Courteney Cox Says She Is Not Getting Divorced

You know how for the past few weeks we have been reading about how Courteney Cox and David Arquette are getting divorced? You know, how Courteney is getting it on with her Cougar Town co-star and David Arquette is making his way through every woman in Hollywood while he cries tears of pain?

Apparently, all of this is just a separation. No divorce. "I don't know what will happen, but this is not like we're getting divorced. This is a separation and I think that takes a lot of courage . . . Whatever is supposed to happen will be the best thing for us."

Umm, so this is all just like half time during their marriage and whatever happens during halftime does not count? Are they just going to stay separated forever?

  1. it sounds like they were separated long before the official annoucement. Not everyone automatically files for divorce. My ex and I have been separated for well over 6 months and neither of us has plans to file any time soon. We remain friendly for the sake of our kids, just live separate lives. Maybe that's what Courteney & David are doing.

  2. SHUT UP, BOTH OF YOU already.
honestly, i thought she had more sense and class than to be talking to the press like this.

  3. Mac, I dated a guy who was separated for 2 years and still had not signed the papers in his desk. I dumped him. If you can't sign the divorce papers, you don't get to date me. go waste someone else's time.

hope you guys don't fall in the same rut. :o)

  4. lol jax. hopefully not :) In my case it's a matter of money - with the kids and a few other issues, filing for divorce costs far more than either my ex or I can afford right now. We'll get to it eventually. Well likely, *I* will get to it, since my ex wouldn't even know where to BEGIN to file for a divorce. Now that I think about it, my situation is a bit like the Cox-Arquette's. Responsible woman married to a man-child. Now THAT's a scary thought :-)

  5. I think no comment would have been a better option for her.

  6. Just say that you have an open marriage and be done with it. No one really cares.

  8. I'm not actually surprised. I read a couple of years ago that she said, "Divorce is not an option for us", and admitting they were in counseling. On the one hand I find it admirable, on the other hand, seriously? So you're just going to fuck other people, live separately and talk about your shit in public where your daughter can read about it? Do the right thing and move on.

  9. I guess they're 'on a break', and anything goes while they work it out. But, I don't get it. How can you work out your issues by bringing the baggage of other relationships into your marriage? They are a very odd couple. I saw him on Regis and Kelly last week, and all I could think of was: I just don't get what she sees in him, his speech and mannerisms are that of a twelve year old boy.

  13. Aren't you a lawyer, Ent? :-D You're supposed to know what's a trial separation, because that's what been said since the beginning. Not a divorce, a trial separation. At least for now.

  14. Actually I think Court made a comment simply because David's getting so much crap for going on Howard Stern to say that he's not a cheater, that he and CC have been separated for a while, and they agreed that they're allowed to date. Also the second time David went on Howard Stern, he seemed convinced that maybe Courtney really is over him, and was sad about it. I think Court is saying things publicly so that she can hang on to David, despite the separation.

  15. @ MacVixen. I am currently in the exact same situation except I have only been married a year and have no children. Unfortunately I am another responsible woman who married a man child. You know it is bad when your seperated husband asks when you are coming over to pick up his laundry.

In regards to Courteney and David, I was completely unaware that anyone really cared this much about them. Perhaps they should focus on their issues instead of yapping to the press?

  16. Am I missing something? Separation 'takes a lot of courage'? I dunno... I read Lily Allen's latest bout of courage and then I read this and wish CC and DA would go away. It takes more courage to grow old gracefully so maybe you should try that Courteney. Meow! I said it.

  17. I think they're trying to stay a family, even though they aren't romantically involved. I say whatever works for them!

  18. I think a marriage is pretty much over when someone moves out. Don't most separations end in divorce? I personally wouldn't be able to get past my spouse living a separate life, dating and having sex with others, etc and then eventually moving home. Just don't get it. I think the Cox Arquette marriage is a different situation because they don't have a prenup and she has more $$$ than he does, from Friends specifically. Maybe that's why "divorce isn't an option"?

  19. Wasn't there a blind a while back that a couple was going to try seperation just for publicity?

Heck, this sounds like them since they can't shut the F up already.

  20. I don't know why people are on David Arquette for running his mouth. It's not really surprising. The guy wears his heart on his sleeve and is bluntly honest. It's kind of refreshing. And besides, he's an Arquette - and they are definitely a quirky and eccentric family. I don't know - never thought I'd say this, but he sort of looks hot now that he's separated from Courtney (that pic of him at the pumpkin patch with Coco).

  21. The reason they aren't filing is because there is no pre-nup...she's about to LOSE HER ASS on this one.

And I agree...just shut your face and move along. You are both whoring around and now the world knows it.

Poor Coco. PS...another celebrity kid with a ridiculous name :(

  23. Doesn't sound like she is pissed for running his mouth at all. Hmm...

  24. Ummm...If a single person covering this story would have listened to what David said in the first place, this would come as no surprise. He only said separation over and over and OVER again on the Stern Show. So irritating.

  25. If I had been married to David Arquette for all that time and decided to separate even temporarily, I think I'd welcome a chance at a new lover too.
