Edison Pena is one of the Chilean miners who was trapped underground for 69 days. During that time underground he spent a lot of time running which is one of the reasons he is running The New York City Marathon. While in New York he also stopped by Letterman and did a little Elvis impersonation. If you are having a bad day, this clip will completely turn your day around.
I'm more in awe that he ran 6 miles a day underground. I use a business trip as an excuse not to run, yet this guy was trapped in a mine and still ran (turning his mining shoes into running shoes). He's my new training inspiration!
ReplyDeleteThat was great. Thanks Enty!
ReplyDeleteI love this story. So many elements about it appeal to me. Good for them for having the gumption to not give up and wait to be rescued. They are some serious inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI saw Letterman last night, and Pena was an excellent guest even though he had to use an interpreter. He was informative and entertaining. The interpreter was funny too.
ReplyDeleteThe Elvis impersonation was a surprise and very good!
Letterman seemed to enjoy the interview, and he asked to give Pena a hug at the end.
I hope he and everyone in his family never have to go into a mine ever, ever again!
ReplyDeleteHow horrible did he stink after running 6 miles every day being stuck in a cave?
ReplyDeleteICK NAST.

ReplyDeleteHe's very personable and a really great interview, better than a lot of Dave's other guests! Salud!
