Cher's Pronouns Are "F**ked"
I love Cher. Can't help it. I always will and she is so funny in her interview with Vanity Fair coming out in their next issue. In the interview she talks about Chaz and his gender reassignment surgery and Cher is so supportive of it but also shows that it can be a difficult adjustment for Cher and also what it would be like if she suddenly woke up in a man's body.
"If I woke up tomorrow in a guy's body, I would just kick and scream and cry and f------ rob a bank, because I cannot see myself as anything but who I am -- a girl. I would not take it as well as Chaz has. I couldn't imagine it."
Cher went on to say, "She's a very smart girl--boy! This is where I get into trouble. My pronouns are f-----. I still don't remember to call her 'him.'"
It is a great interview and you really should read it. Cher is not shy about anything and talks about her kids are still dealing with past issues that Cher gave them and how they are working to overcome them all. It is rare for anyone to admit their faults, let alone a celebrity, but Cher is willing and I like her even more for it.
Love her too. Always have. Always wil. What a life she's had so far. I miss her interviews with Barbara Walters and even when she'd walk out unannounced on the Tonight Show.
ReplyDeleteLove her honesty. Most parents with more than one child get their proper names mixed up.
ReplyDeleteMy inlaws are Armenian. the pronoun confusion is normal coming from some other languages that don't have distinct pronouns for him/her.
ReplyDeleteVery funny when my mother in law refers to my brother in law as she-he.

__-__=__ ; "shut up you crazy bitch, you're just trying to get in my house!"
ReplyDeleteI love Cher. LOVE.
She belongs in Vegas, forever! Cher is very real. The only celeb that ever admitted to making mistakes with their kids.
ReplyDeleteI have always loved Cher....she is the best...
ReplyDeleteI remember her talking about her first boob job. She said I didn't make them bigger, I just put them back where they belong.
ReplyDeletecher ffffing rocks. i remember way back when she was in some interview and was getting cross-examined about her plastic surgery and she said "if i want to put tits on my back, it's nobody's business but my own"
ReplyDeleteit's also really great how supportive she's been about chaz. glad to see this becoming more of a natural topic and less of a loathsome taboo issue.
brava cher!!!
Cher, the way you would feel if you woke in a man's body is the way Chaz probably felt for many years of his life pre-transition hence the substance abuse and medicating with food. Chaz was unable to adjust to a female body and had to live his truth. Not that hard to adjust to for the person dealing with it Cher!
ReplyDeleteLOVE Cher.
ReplyDeleteDoes the magazine name the models strutting with her? That blond, far right screen, is WOW.
Not the far, far right one in the back but the one to Cher's left (screen right). Details!
ReplyDeleteI remember sitting on the den floor religiously watching the Sonny and Cher show, and one time my Mom said she read in a magazine that Cher's bustline measurement was 29". 29"!!!
ReplyDeleteAlso recall how she always licked her top lip all the time but did it so she wouldn't muss that high gloss. The dresses so sequined they must've weighed 15 lbs. And that hair!
It was all very WOW to a 1970's 4th/5th grader with exactly three TV channels, lemme tell ya.
And that is exactly the boob job I might get one of these days, sunnyside! No addition, just reconfiguring!
ReplyDeleteCher is a GODDESS.
ReplyDeleteLove her!!
I loved her acting, I'm glad she's getting back to it!
