Andy Richter Loves That No One Is Watching Leno
Andy Richter gave an interview to The NY Post to promote Conan which kicks off next week. In the interview Andy was asked about how he feels about the declining ratings over at The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
"I don't want to wish ill will on anybody, but I would be lying to you if I said it didn't feel a little bit fun to hear that -- that there wasn't some kind of feeling of reward in that.
It is kind of vindicating in a way. I think that one of the reasons we ended up leaving was because of their impatience with us. And I think that was a mistake on their part. So I had a hunch about that, and it is nice to have that hunch seemingly proven true."
I am pretty sure that despite what he says about not wishing ill of anyone, that Andy and Conan probably did a little happy dance when they heard the news. I know I did.
Woo hoo! Andy hit the nail right on the head.
ReplyDelete... and you know you're going to be checking out the Coco cam once it's up & running!!
ReplyDeleteIt would be fun except for the fact that anything Andy has been involved in has had lower ratings than Jay!
ReplyDeleteThe new Vanity Fair has an indepth article on the NBC late night debacle/Conan/Leno. It's a great read.
ReplyDeleteTeam Coco.
Of course he should feel happy. Karma in action is a great thing to witness.
ReplyDeletei'm still dancing.
ReplyDeletemy feet are moving as a type this in
ReplyDeleteAah, schadenfreude. Kind of like staying at the party too long.
ReplyDeleteMy husband was flipping through the channels the other night and stopped at Jay- I said "change it!" he was like "really? I thought you liked him?" I told him that as a matter of principal I will NEVER watch him again. He thought I was being a bit dramatic, but whatever. That whole thing left such a bitter taste in my mouth that I can't even look at Jay with any amount of respect. I wasn't "Team Anything" before, but I am Team Coco for damn sure now!
ReplyDelete@ RocketQueen
So yes, watching karma in action is a very nice thing!
Oh, the justice here. Go coco!
ReplyDeleteI'm not team anything either, but vindication feels nice as hell. Good for them cause that wasn't right.
ReplyDeleteI have boycotted Leno since he pushed Letterman out of the gig in the first place. If Leno were funny, I would like him better, I promise. But I think he is a relic of the 90's era----the 'dumbing down' of everything* on network television, because making people think makes them hostile.
ReplyDelete(*Seinfeld fans-- to me that show is practically slapstick, although it was a better example of comedy of the 90's.MOO)
I watch Stewart and Colbert anyway, but I can see myself DVRing Conan.
I don't think there is going to be another "Hugh Grant" moment to put him back on top.
ReplyDeleteHis creepy, selfish, greedy side was exposed. A side many have known for years behind the scenes. To the general public and they are disgusted by him and the ratings will continue to tumble. Good going Jeff Zucker, don't let the door hit you on the ass on the way out.
Couldn't happen to nicer D-bags.
I love it too. Team Coco. I hope the new show is a smash!
ReplyDeleteOh no, I have that feeling I get when someone on Project Runway says something like, "This is right up my alley!" and then they get kicked off.
ReplyDelete7 more days til Conan!!! Who's excited?? I've been keeping up with his team somewhat through their blog. The TBS promo's have been hilarious. CAN'T WAIT!!!
ReplyDeleteHere is one of my favorites (the hopping at :13 gets me every time).
I imagine Conan was probably doing that evil laugh he does when he heard this news. Mwuahahahahaha
