Your Turn

If you can only pick one of these things to be, which would you choose?

Wealthy, smart, or good looking.

  1. Hmmm. Wealthy. I can then afford to make myself good looking and smart.

  2. i would pick smart...so i can amass the wealth and be secure w/self (and if not buy plastic surgery) :0)

  3. Wealthy, then I would buy and island where being smart and good looking don't matter.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Not on the list, but I would take health. If you're not healthy (i.e. have a disease or chronic illness), non of the other 3 would matter.

  5. Wealthy. Contrary to what LuAnn de Lesseps thinks, Money CAN buy you class.

    ReplyDelete
  6. fuck it, wealth. you can afford an education and a plastic surgeon.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Wealth, of course. If your loaded, no one cares if your smart or good looking. Look how many girls flock to Brandon Davis. LOL!

  8. Wealth. I'm already smart and good looking. ;)

  9. looserdude beat me to it!

  10. I am very blessed to have been born with two of them -- the smarts and the looks.

If I had another life to live with only getting one, however...it would be the smarts without question.

  11. good looking...as a woman, being drop-dead gorgeous means you can marry into the money and you don't have to be smart.

    ReplyDelete
  12. lol @ looserdude.
I was gonna say the same. :)-
Wealth. I can afford to pay for an education and IF I feel the need plastic surgery.

    ReplyDelete
  13. There's no way i would trade in my smarts.

    ReplyDelete
  14. wealthy. I already am good looking and smart.....poverty sucks. :)

  15. Smart. Wealthy people are always worrying about becoming even wealthier, and good looking people worry about losing their looks.

And as Patty says, if it were an option I'd definitely pick health over all three.

  16. Damn, looserdude. You took my answer, too!

Oh valerie. Your answer makes me so sad. I'm not going to lie: looks are very important in my family. My dad married my mom so he could have good looking kids. That's not a joke, either. Everyone on his side has gotten plastic surgery done and he has botox readily available for himself in his own freezer. Despite my father's obsession with vanity, he always nurtured my intelligence and told me to make that my number one priority (kinda been slacking on that, but that just be out of rebellion). Regardless, intelligence is much more important than looks or wealth in my book. And I'm so happy I had a father who told me I should find a man who wants me for my brain over my looks. No matter how good my momma's genes are.

  17. Hahaha, yes, what looserdude said :)

  18. Wealthy so I can get all the sex I can handle.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Smart, so I could figure out a way to be wealthy and pay for the plastic surgery to be good looking.

  20. Seen a lot of wealthy dumb people go broke,

And looks are fading...(seen a lot of ladies marry the money only to get replaced for the newer model eventually, and its not ofter they have the better lawyer)

    I'll go with the brains.

However, I have to really think about it if talent was on the list.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Why doesn't this think have an edit tool? Maybe I should ask for better grammar (or typing skills).

    ReplyDelete
  22. Talent should be on the list. I wish I could sing.

  23. My sister (who died tragically) was drop dead beautiful. I was the smart daughter/sister. My darling sister seemed to attract a lot of grief and unwanted attention because of her looks. I'll keep my smarts and average looks, thanks, but I think I would trade a few IQ points for some extra cash, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Realized as I hit the post button that my message might seem that my sister died because she was so gorgeous. She did NOT attract some stalker/slasher. Sorry if my message seemed to imply that.

  25. Smrts! Brain's! I have it already now, but I didn't use it right the first 30 years of my life. That's what I'd like to re-do.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Wealthy. I know for a fact that being smart and being good looking is useless if you can't pay the bills.

    ReplyDelete
  27. ^^^^ EXACTLY!!!

Wealth, any day of the week =)

    ReplyDelete
  28. i too would go for Wealth. smarts and good looks can only get you so far when your poor as sh!t! lol

    ReplyDelete
  29. If you choose one, are you totally devoid of the other two, or are you average? I would like to be average in all three (I don't care too much about smart, though. I am not smart and I managed to earn a graduate degree), but, man, I would give up just about anything to get my health back.

    ReplyDelete
  30. SMART = Great Education = $$$ = Great Doctors!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I take smarts over the other two anyday. Wealth may get you plastic surgery and buy you a spouse but wealthy fools don't stay wealthy or...even healthy for long. Looks fade and botox is just too scary.

Without smarts how would I figure out if someone loved me for my looks or my wealth?

    ReplyDelete
  32. I would most ask for something missing from that list - motivation. I've been told I'm smart, but I also know that I am not where so many believed I would be at this point in my life. Lack of motivation/discipline in my life. So yeah, smarts over wealth, because wealth can be taken from the stupid, but what good is it to be smart without action?

Sorry if I brought the room down. It's Friday, there must be happy hour somewhere... :)

    ReplyDelete
  33. FS, I'd like motivation, too.

  34. Off topic. We have ALL been given at least one gift, and at least two or more talents. Talents go beyond entertainment too.

Someone may be gifted in math, while others are simply talented. One's no better than the other. The only thing that matters is that you use them.

Discover your gifts and talents. Here's a hint. What you are passionate about usually leads one to their gift.

    HAPPY FRIDAY!

  35. I wish I wanted to say smart, but I don't. I'd want to be wealthy. I think I am smart, and I've spent too many years trying to make ends meet. Money would relieve some stress, that's for sure!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Hmmmmmmmmmm. No blind today?

    ReplyDelete
  37. Wealth ... So I could afford a
    smart good looking boy-toy. (lol)

Actually I would have said smart until recently but $$$ can buy both an education and looks (and a new roof). I'm taking the money, honey.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Smart. Good looking people eventually age, and there's no guarantee that one can keep their wealth.

    ReplyDelete
  39. The Los Angeles answer is - GOOD LOOKING because you can gain wealth with your looks.

The honest answer is - WEALTH because sometimes being SMART is actually a hindrance in life, especially if you are emotional and have a strong conscience. Often the least smart people are the ones who are happiest because they aren't smart enough to know better. (Does that even make sense!?)

  40. Most of the people I have met who are rich and happy live their lives in a way that isn't much different than those who live with less money and are happy. Attitude is more of a deciding factor than wealth, it seems. Beauty can open doors, but it is a short-lived trait. Aging stars who try to cling to such a fleeting trait become jokes if they have nothing else to offer.
I guess that leaves intelligence, but rather than simple book knowledge, I would rather have street smarts.
That, paired with good manners and social prowess, can take a person much farther than any of those other three traits.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I'll go with smart.

If you're smart, you can make yourself wealthy. If you're wealthy, you can make yourself good-looking.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Since I'm already two out of three, I'll go with wealthy.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I'm average in looks, brains and money. That,a strong character and a good education are the only things you really need.
I know rich people who are miserable because they didn't accomplish anything in life; beautiful people who didn't bother to study because they lived in a bubble and now they're unemployed and their looks fading; and two of my best friends are gifted (MENSA and all that) but extremely depressed.
I'll take average anytime, or just smart (but not too much)

    ReplyDelete
  44. id say smart but i really already am [and add to my natural intelligence, i have a strong sense of curiosity about things around me and a huge thirst for acquiring knowledge]

so, i think i will go with almost everyone else and say wealth... i dont care much for looks bc i am and always have been pretty self-confident

but money, ah, that is something anyone could ALWAYS use a litte more of! :)

  46. Wealth because it brings you power - from which you can have "smart" (the hired experts) and a life surrounded by "beauty" (arts, travels and beautiful objects.)

    ReplyDelete
  47. I like what @rebellious, contrary and nice said!

I would choose to be wealthy. I saw this on a sign in a gift shop once:
Money can't buy you happiness...but it sure can buy you everything else!

    ReplyDelete
  48. In my twenties I would have said good looking.

In my Thirties I would have said smart.

Now .. wealthy. Losing your beloved house and filing bankruptcy have a tendency to really make you realize everything but money is worthless.

However, I do agree with the poster who mentioned health. For .. it is because of my lack of that that I have no money .. could care less about being good looking and at time think I am too smart for my own good. If I was dumb .. my life turning into a disaster likely wouldn't bother me.

  49. smart. everything else is attainable. plastic surgury can make you beautiful, but there is no surgery to make you smarter.

    ReplyDelete
  50. besides agreeing with wil (hang in there, honey. all we can do is our best),
i would have to pick wealth. i'm pretty smart, considering i've only got a back-woods HS diploma, and i'm not ugly, just fat-- and the cushing's meds are already working on that.
besides, mr. buns is brilliant, and none of that mensa crap, brilliant for real. so i've got that covered.
wealth would get us out of this hellhole called palmdale. i could hire someone to do the jobs (house work, painting, etc) i can't do. i could have a house where the buns had their very own room, with a window ramp to the outside, covered with dense wire, and then enough extra room to take in foster buns.
furniture that fits my body. daughter in full time school until she gets it right.
not millions and millions. just enough not to worry about it every day, and still be able to donate to my favorite charities and have enough left for a very cozy retirement with full medical benefits

OR just enough to pay the house, 2nd and cars off.
    mostly the house.
