Will Arnett Signs Petition To Save His Own Show
Thew new show Running Wilde on Fox which stars, Will Arnett and Keri Russell has been a ratings disaster. Fox ordered 13 episodes but it might never make it that far. But, the good news for fans who like the show is there is a petition to try and save it and Will Arnett has signed it. Over the past week he has really been Tweeting almost non stop about the show including how he wants the show to run forever or at least long enough for him to get Two And A Half Men $$.
This morning though, he seems frustrated about the results.
Thanks to everyone who signed the petition..f**king ratings sucked...I guess America hates jokes?
I think the problem is that unless you watch Fox regularly there has not been a lot of press about the show. No making the rounds or making sure people can find the show through all of the new offerings. It is a funny show and Will is Will, but I don't think it will make it.
It is funny not Arrested Development funny, but close.
ReplyDeleteI think this show would of done better on FX. Snarky, smart, sarcastic shows just don't play on network TV anymore. Basic cable would be a better home for it and they could get a litte more edgier.
Sadly, dumb shows like 2.5 men and Mike & Molly only work on network TV now.
I actually love this show and must be one of the few that watch it. It's witty & different...which means of course it won't last. Yet Two & a Half Men - a show I've never liked - continues to be a ratings darling.
ReplyDeleteThe f**king problem I have with his f**king tweeting is that, like every other f**king person using the f**king thing, he can't complete a f**king sentence without using the f**king word "f**k." I mean, what the f**k?
ReplyDeleteI enjoy that show - the last episode was a little over the top for me, but I think it has the same kind of humor Will Arnett brought to Arrested Development. It will be sad to see it go!
ReplyDeleteI hate Fox. They never learn. I'm still pissed about AD and really annoyed with their canceling of Lone Star.
ReplyDeleteNever heard about the show until this post. That's a problem.
ReplyDeleteI watched the first episode and had quite a few laughs....but then I kind of forgot about it. Like you said, there wasn't a whole lot of promotion surrounding the show and you never see trailers for upcoming episodes.
ReplyDeleteI loved AD and gave this show the old college try, but it just isn't good. Sorry, Will. I wanted to like it so much, I just don't.
ReplyDeleteI just don't care for Will Arnett's humour. Guess I just don't care for the snarky look on his face or something, I don't know.
ReplyDeleteBut I've noticed that shows are not getting the chance like they used to. Think of Seinfeld (which I actually didn't like either) which was given several years to get on it's feet. Networks are too quick to the trigger lately.
I like the show that comes on before it, "Raising Hope", but I do not like "Running Wilde" at all. I gave it a couple of episodes, but the only likeable character on the show is the daughter. This isn't a funny show, and that's what the ratings reflect. However, I also agree that "Mike and Molly" and "Sh#t My Dad Says" are also not very funny, and they are pulling in good numbers so I guess ratings aren't the best indicator. "Mike and Molly" has potential, but they need to stop with the fat jokes, tone the sister's character down considerably, and concentrate on the romance between Mike and Molly, who are likeable characters and have good chemistry with each other.
ReplyDeleteI tried watching this show once because I think Will Arnett is funny but found it unwatchable. Sorry Will!
ReplyDeleteFox needs to learn how to better promote its shows. I forgot this one even existed. And I'm not happy they cancelled Lonestar so quickly. I think it had potential. If I had my own show, I would not want it to be on Fox. They don't seem to care about keeping shows going or even giving them a chance!
I agree with Little Miss Smoke and Mirrors.
ReplyDeleteI've watched this show every week because it comes on after Raising Hope (which I love) but I can't say I would be sorry if it was canceled. It's just too odd and unfunny.
ReplyDeleteI vaguely remember him doing press about this show & then forgot to DVR it. I just added it to my DVR...it conflicts with Dancing With the Stars. Maybe that is part of the problem!? I deleted DWTS (guess I can watch it online??)..I'll give it a shot. I love him.
ReplyDeleteI'm also giving Mike & Molly a chance. Mostly b/c i love Melissa McCarthy. I'm also giving that "Better With You" show a chance b/c i like Joanna Garcia. Both are kind of meh.
I'd just like to go on record saying I'd rather watch 30 minutes of Will Arnett sitting on a couch saying NOTHING than watch 3 seconds of Two & A Half Men.
I'm torn over this show. The little girl who plays Puddle is adorable, and I think the over-the-topness of the last episode was exactly what it needed. It's comedy, but it's stiff comedy. I wanted to like it so much (and I have to admit I was just tickled by David Cross' Blue Man Group joke) . . . but it just isn't there.
ReplyDeleteExcept for the scenes with his swarthy actor friend (I think he's an actor), the show is really not funny. This week's episode with Andy Richter was probably the best so far and it did make me laugh a few times.
ReplyDeleteBut I do LOVE "Raising Hope" and hope this doesn't bring that one down and with only one channel (and FOX at that!), I will probably keep watching it.
I adore Will Arnett and had no idea this show existed. I feel badly for him, I really think he's talented, but his tv shows always get cancelled (and yes, I think being up agains DWTS hurts) and his movies are lackluster. Which sucks because he and Amy Poehler are my fave celeb couple BY FAR.
