Two Things From SNL Worth Watching

Was it the best musical performance ever on SNL? I don't know if it was the best, but I am having a tough time thinking of a better performance than Kanye West gave on Saturday night. Another great thing I saw was a character that could actually be funny. Wait until you see this Miley Cyrus impression.

  2. Loved Bryan Cranston on SNL this week...wish there was a Breaking Bad/meth parody, though!

"I sent a bottle of sparkling apple juice to your house...did you get it?" X-D So dumb, but so funny after the fact...

Jax, did you write this post? I have never read on here that ENT is a fan of rap. I know that you are.

  6. I watched the show. I didn't watch kanye because I can't stand him or rap for that matter. Everything else was pretty funny. The jury is still out on the basketball practice skit.

  8. Funny, but never in a million years would they make fun of Taylor Swift without the world lashing out at SNL for making fun of someone under 21.

  9. Sorry Kanye, I wasn't feeling it.

  10. Kanye was pretty good. The beginning of the first song was cool.

The Miley and Johnny Depp impressions were really good.

  11. I can't stand Kanye and I didn't think his performance was that hot. As for making fun of Taylor Swift, she was on SNL and made fun of herself.

  12. GoodGrief, I thought the basketball practice skit was like most SNL skits these days, it started off funny enough, but it went on too long and then got stupid and gross.

  13. I loved the Miley Cyrus skit. That actress's imitation of her was perfect.

  14. Sorry, but Kanye sucked. Having 50 models on the stage doesn't change that.

  15. Also, what ea17 said - Enty wrote this? Wasn't aware that he was a big Kanye fan musically.
And I can think of so many that have been better on SNL, hard to believe Enty can't think of one. I mean, come on, Pearl Jam?

  16. i don't think anyone (including enty) has to be a "fan" to enjoy a performance...esp one so out of the ordinary for snl..just sayin'. and the miley skit was fantastic...so glad it was posted :0)

  17. I thought the Kanye performances were good too, but I think it had more to do with the set and having all of the dancers on the stage. The Miley Cyrus skit was the best I've seen in a while, the new cast member has her down to a "T". I loved it, but maybe it's because I hate Miley Cyrus so much!

  18. Sorry I missed this week's SNL. Even sorrier I don't have sound at work!

  19. I thought the performance was great. I loved it. The whole idea was great, congrats to whoever choreographed the whole thing. And I like both songs.

  20. I'll give Kanye an A for effort. Most musical performances on SNL are sooo boring, at least this stands out. That being said, I don't care for him, this song, or his enormous ego.

  22. I'm a Kanye fan. I don't like his enormous ego, but I love his music and think he's very talented.

Some of you question Enty being a rap/Kanye fan. I've read this site for years and Enty writes about all types of music.

  23. The best SNL musical performance ever? No, sorry. It was good though.

The performances by U2, Pearl Jam, Elvis Costello, and the Beastie Boys are the ones off the top of my head that I consider better.

  24. I love Kanye and the performance was great, but not the best SNL musicla performance.

Who's the hot guy playing Johnny Depp? Good job.

  25. As crap, are we starting with accusations of who Enty is again?

Loved the Miley skit. I like Kanye West's music sometimes. I think he sounds crappy live, though.

  26. Also, I could say I hate country, but there are actually some country music songs and artists I like. Anyone who says they hate an entire music genre is just small-minded.

  28. SNL allowed Kanye to revamp the stage to his Liking, so it wasn’t the BEST performance in the ENTIRE WORLD but it WAS damn good. If you don’t like Kanye or HIP-Hop and can’t see that is was special fine that’s cool just don’t comment on music that is outside of your musical realm! I CAN comment on Country I listen to Country, I CAN Comment on “Shoegaze” because, I listen to “Shoegaze”, I CAN comment on Rock-Alternative because I listen to that and a lot of other genres. I don’t like SKA so, I don’t have feeling or emotion for SKA artist! I get why some folks don’t like Kanye but If you know nothing of Hip-Hop or production just stfu and stfd…. #THATISALL

  29. When did Mr. T rob Burger King?

  30. Don't like Kanye and I don't like his 'music'. Care even less for people who think they know everything about 'whatever' and don't hesitate to tell others to stfu.

Also, I respect the people who come to this blog too much to tell them where to get off if they don't agree with me.

  31. I think that the reason that they can make fun of Miley is that all they've mocked is that she's a teenager, who says OMG, thinks things are pretty cool. When there are a lot of other things they probably could have mocked about Miley (the underage partying, boyfriends who are over 18)... this wasn't so bad at all. Besides, Miley probably thought it was "pretty cool, y'all."

But it was a great skit. And kudos to the guy who was Depp- that was a great impression.

  32. They used to do a Dakota Fanning skit where she was a talk show host. I didn't hear anyone say anything about that.

  33. uh, tenley, that makes no sense. taylor's done snl...and she did great...had fun poking fun at herself.

re kanye...the video's symbolism is distrubing enough...hated him copying it on snl.

lol @ the miley spoof...but it lagged a little for me...the new girl is funny tho.

  34. Miley skit was funny, but IMHO the actress playing Miley is too pretty to play her. The writing was funny, esp the part where Depp said something about taking dark roles and Miley cut him off with a Yeah, me, too. If they can keep the writing up on this skit, it would be good recurring.

  35. Not a huge fan of the song but the stage/choreography was cool. I think Kanye is extremely talented, but just needs to learn to check his ego.

The Miley skit was HILARIOUS. That girl is spot on especially with the sound of her voice!! LOVED the "Goodbye, Jeff" trailer!! Who was the guy playing Johnny Depp?
