Teen Mom Salaries

Life & Style finally uncovered how much exactly each of the participants are being paid for their appearances on the show. Each person is paid between $60,000 to $65,000 for the season. Considering they are not very long seasons that is some really good money. In their story, they quote a source who says that Gary and Amber would love to stop filming the show (uh huh), but that the money is just too good to pass up. Combine that money with the money some of the moms make at promotional appearances and they are doing very well for themselves without actually having to do any work. I sure hope they are saving it. The article does not say if any money is being paid to the babies on the show, but I certainly hope they are getting something because I doubt any of these people are saving very much.

I also have noticed that no one is really asking for a raise. Unlike Jersey Shore I think it would be pretty easy to replace these people especially with a new season of 16 & Pregnant on the air.

  1. I hope someone's parents have some sense and put that money in a trust. Honestly, the only one I have any real hope for is Maci. Even if what she named her child is questionable.

  2. I don't believe thats accurate.

I've been reading comments over on Jezebel for the Catelynn/Tyler college fund, and the # that keeps coming up is 5 grand per season (some say episode).

Teen Mom is an MTV Docu Show...yeah there's good ratings, but MTV Docs doesn't have a large budget to pay each Teen Mom that much per season/episode.

Look at the series, it's about Teen Moms, and how their struggles, give them 65 grand a year, they aren't going to be struggling that much anymore.

Yeah there's the appearances, but when was the last time any of them spoke to a magazine personally, not just their "best friend".

I alway read somewhere that for 16 and Pregnant, the girls were paid with money that was put into a trust fund for their & their children's college, etc.

  3. I keep reading $5,000-8,000 and with 10 episodes and a reunion that is within the range of $60,000-65,000.

I agree it changes their struggles but with the amount of money MTV makes it wouldn't be fair not to pay them. It's "reality" and not a documentary.

  4. it breaks down to about $5G per episode. there is no way the'd be doing it for less.

I disagree Enty, no way can they replace them. We've invested time in these 4 couples and their kids. The new teens on the this season just seem like brats looking for a tv show. It's now like a Hills with kids.No way could I watch Joe for a few seasons.

  5. Inside info: It's $5,000 per episode and you are contracted for a certain number of episodes. I know one of the future moms who is filming right now. Her mother was offered money to appear, but she declined and will only be heard occasionally.

  6. (I'm having a really shallow-feeling day here so 'scuse me for saying this, but)

Look at the sheer SIZE of the head on that one on the right! OMG that is a huge head. What's her baby look like?

  8. if the kids apear on tv then don't they automatically have to put their portion in trust? or is that only for "working kids" not on reality tv? how did that work for Kate+8?

  9. MTV has always paid better than other series, even though I think they might be in the same family of networks.
Jersey Shore people get more than the housewives.

  10. After taxes, it's barely a fucking penny. if they have kids, it makes no difference.

  11. welp... still twice what i make in a year, and i'm fully educated and have no children and i struggle to make it. pisses me off knowing if i would've made some bad decisions in high school and then got a tv show celebrating it, i could be well-off, for a teenager at least.

and yes, i watch the show. i love it.

  12. @jax, no on the money going automatically into trust funds. The states have different laws on this. The Gosselin kids didn't have any money put aside until quite recently. TLC considered the show a documentary so they got around most of the Pennsylvania child labor laws. Kate can also dip into the new trust funds to pay for the kids education (and they're in private school), health expenses, etc. They won't have much of anything by the time they turn 18.

California has much stricter laws. I don't know where these teen mommy shows live/film.

Despicable, and more than likely they'll end up pregnant again!

  14. So, do they do a reunion show like the Housewives at the season end??
