Ryan Gosling Was Depressed During Mickey Mouse Club Days
You always hear stories from Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears about how great their time was on The Mickey Mouse Club. Well, one person who did not have a great time was Ryan Gosling. Because the other three were on it and so good, Ryan says that he was often cut out or would just show up at the beginning and end of the show. If you think about the number of people that have "made it" from that version of The Mickey Mouse Club it is remarkable.
In an interview in Interview Magazine done by Steve Carell, Ryan talks all about it.
"It was kind of depressing because when I got there, they realized that I wasn’t really up to snuff in comparison with what some of the other kids were able to do. I remember one time they put four of us in a dance routine, but I was so off. I was on the end, so they just pushed the shot in closer on the other three guys to frame me out. I would just come in at the beginning of the show and then come back at the end, and occasionally I’d have a sketch here or there, but I didn’t end up working that much, which was disheartening."
Ahh, but not having anything to do all day allowed Ryan time to meet all the Disney World characters and he would join some of them after work.
"I remember there was one guy who I became friends with. He played a genie and was this great dancer. He took us to a place called Pleasure Island, which was for adults to go after the kids had their days. It was geared toward an older crowd. It was completely inappropriate, now that I’m thinking about it, but he would sneak us in and we would go to a club there called 8 Trax and dance with the secretaries, who were grinding on us . . . Now, that sounds completely inappropriate. I can’t imagine how it was possible."
Yes, so if you were a secretary at Disney World or in Orlando back in the day it is just possible you may have grinded on an underage teenager who would later star in Young Hercules.
excuse me!!
ReplyDeleteyou forgot Breaker High.
I loved Breaker High. DO NOT JUDGE!! Him and Jimmy were one of the highlights of that show.
ReplyDeleteAh, but look at you now, Ryan. Look at you now. <3
ReplyDeleteHe dated Sandra Bullock too didn't he?
ReplyDeleteWho has the better career now Ryan? If you're feeling blue about it now, just go IMDB yourself.
oh yeah....Ryan don't fret, you're fine...very fine.
ReplyDeleteyou can find Jimmy stumbling around a few bars here on saturday nights.
ReplyDeleteAh, but look at you now, Ryan. Look at you now
ReplyDeleteOh so true - so true and as Misch says - so fine - so fine !!!!
Do you ever drunkenly yell Jimmy! Where's Sean?! Heh. I would.
ReplyDeletehe is a great actor. Suck it Timberlake.
ReplyDeleteIt's the quiet ones that are overlooked that eventually become the hottest Mother F*ckers. That guy just oozes sex appeal, and the thing is, it's real and probably something he can't control. Love him!
ReplyDeleteI agree with MadLyb.
ReplyDelete@sunnyside - AGREE!!!
ReplyDeleteI giggled imagining him bungling the dance moves. :) He has the best career out of all of them (ACTING wise) so I think it's all good.
I really don't remember him at all. I don't remember Britney, Christina or Justin. I DO remember The Party...."Tune in, Groove On, Bust Out."
I've loved him since Breaker High. He is definitely doing better than any of the other MMC kids now!
ReplyDeleteC'mere Ryan...you aren't underage anymore!;-)
