Rihanna Beating Photos For Sale

At some point this weekend I would expect some tabloid will cough up the money and purchase 5 never before seen photos of Rihanna after hear beating by Chris Brown. According to Radar, who saw the pictures, the photos are way more graphic than the one previously released. The photos taken in the hospital show a bloody and bruised Rihanna. One of the pictures also shows Chris Brown who has a small cut on his lip. Rihanna's show cuts and bruises and blood in her mouth where she was punched and also has bite marks on her arms.

Although I am sure the pictures will be disturbing I am all for their release. I think it will focus the world's attention again on domestic violence and cause Chris Brown to suffer more humiliation which is always a good thing.

  1. How should it bring more attention on domestic violence if the moron who had to endure those things makes a mockery of the seriousness of it by singing lines as: Just gonna stand there
    And watch me burn
    But that's alright
    Because I like
    The way it hurts
    Just gonna stand there
    And hear me cry
    But that's alright
    Because I love
    The way you lie
I love the way you lie

and thus glamorizing the act of getting beat up or violated by another person and also bringing a sexual connotation to it as if it's some kind of rough foreplay.

I don't have any empathy for her at all. She could have handled all of this much better. She's just as bad as Chris Brown.

  4. Obviously domestic violence is always wrong but hitting Rihanna would like punching a Rembrandt. She's a living work of art. Yup, I got a big crush on RiRi.

  5. Offside to release those without her approval. Period.

  6. @Mina - I think the point of "Love the Way You Lie" is not that punching your lover is sexy. I think the point is to expose the kind of messed up thinking that goes into perpetuating that kind of bad situation.

I don't think that song is making a mockery of domestic violence, but rather, trying to express the emotions involved while in a cycle of violence.

I am a domestic violence attorney. And myself, volunteers, and even our survivors really like the song because it captures what they experienced.

  8. Those pictures SHOULD NOT BE RELEASED PERIOD! It was bad enough when they were released the first time. Releasing it again is like her getting beat all over again. Both her and Chris Brown are trying to move past this situation and people need to let them. She has forgiven him and moved on with her life, and he is doing what he has been ordered to do by the court so continually bringing this up is pathetic and sad on the part on the media. If I was here I would press charges against WHOEVER sold the pictures and also WHOEVER posts them. Talk about being victimized all over again.
How would you feel if you were beaten and then YOUR BRUISED and BLOODY face was plastered ALL OVER the internet and newspapers. There is a reason why victims of abuse are not public record.
As a lawyer you should know this. I know you don't like Chris Brown and you are entitled to your opinion on him but saying you want to see the victim plastered all over is ridiculous.

  9. I don't want to see them, just like I don't want to see celebrity pap smears.

  10. @ Sue Ellen Mishkey
I agree, but I feel like I might as well see Paris and Britney's pap smears because I've seen everything else they have.

  11. Oh and no pictures should be released without Rhianna's consent.

  12. After reading this, my biggest concern is 'who took these photos?'. I will always support shining a light on domestic violence, but not if it comes at the expense of someone's healthcare privacy. If these photos were taken by healthcare staff or the police department to document domestic abuse, should the pics not remain in a sealed healthcare record? Unless, if they are supenaed by the courts.

My big question, is how were these pics obtained, and who should be charged with leaking private healthcare info?

  14. @Girly - thanks for saying that about the song - I wanted to say the same thing, but am not as eloquent :)

Whether or not Rihanna has forgiven Chris Brown is not the issue. The issue is that thousands of young girls and women continue to support the piece of shit that is Chris Brown, considering his incredible violence and subsequent lack of remorse to be a no-big-deal act.

Maybe seeing these pictures will help some of them reconsider.

The pictures should not be released without Rihanna's consent. But I do hope she gives her consent.

Chris Brown is a piece of shit. I used to be a big fan. Now, whenever one of his songs come on the radio, I say, "Eat shit, motherfucker," and change the channel.

That's my point. There are some things no one needs to see, yet we still see them. Where is the line? Pap smears? Beating pics? Aborted fetuses in jars?

I dunno. This is just striking me as too much right now, though I can see how it *could* be a good thing for other people to see them...

I'm ranting. Sorry. It wasn't directed at you.

  17. release them! she's a role model to lots of teens girls and she did a SHITTY job of handling this situation and you can be DAMN SURE she'd still be with him if her PR people didn't step in.

you can't make money off the song and not have consequences, doesn't work that way.

  18. I think the song is a total mockery especially because it involves Eminem who's known for being so outspoken against hate and violence (smell the sarcasm). Also, instead of cashing in the money by releasing a song she should have just given a decent interview speaking to girls and women about what has happened and not those luke-warm attempts she made. That woman died for me when she said in a radio interview that she feels bad for people's boyfriends if they don't send them naked pictures. She's really messed up and just sends the wrong message.
Maybe people who were already victims of domestic abuse can appreciate the song but I think that to others -especially young girls- it gives the impression that it's so hot and the guy must be so much in love with you if he hits you. I know so many young girls who think that getting punched by your boyfriend is a sign of true love.

  19. The pap smear talk totally gave me a chuckle or two.

Who owns these photos? If they are the property of police or the hospital or some other authority (which I always hear in my head as authori-tai courtesy of Eric Cartman) then there's no way in hell that the photos should be released or sold. WTF? Domestic violence incidents are supposed to have some level of privacy. And who would be making money on this?

It's items like this that make me wonder about the state of our world. Jesus.

And I agree with previous posts that I'm sure Rihanna is trying to move on with her life.

I think the song is very truthful about domestic violence, BTW.

  20. What looserdude & girly said--it's not a glorification of domestic violence, but a from-the-inside description of the kind of thinking that goes on in a mentally/physically violent relationship. (If anyone should know & be able to write about one, it's definitely Eminem, considering the fucked-up mutually destructive relationship he & Kim had for so long. For a number of years, I found myself wondering if it was all going to end as a murder-suicide, and which one would pull the trigger; my guess was 60/40 odds that it would have been Kim.)

And yes, if the photos came from a health care facility, that would be a definitely HIPAA violation. Not sure that I really want to see the pictures, but perhaps if they do shake some sense into some silly kids...

I understand what you mean. And I by no means think that people should "forget" what Chris Brown did, he is forever tied to the situation but I think releasing the photos is a bad idea.

I also wonder about the timing of these picture release. Considering the fact that Rhianna has a new album coming out. Could this be a stunt by her PR people to get people interested? They pulled the same stuff last year when she didn't talk about the situation until her album was released.

  22. Sue Ellen, the pap smear comment is killer!

    ReplyDelete
  23. "and you can be DAMN SURE she'd still be with him if her PR people didn't step in."

And how is this different from many victims of dv caught up in the cycle. She's an entertainer, but human none the less.

    And thank God she listened!

  24. Oh, please, Jessica. She earns good money with what has happened to her. As Lady J said she didn't say anything until her album was due. I'm wondering how much of the money Rihanna makes with the song is going to charity? So far only Megan Fox has given her paycheck to charity. She supports the Sojourn House. A place for abused women.

Also, who of us knows what really happened between the two. Maybe it wasn't only her who had to experience abuse in that relationship?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Mina - Rihanna has the right to discuss (or not) her abuse in any way she wants. As a former abused girlfriend myself, I went back for a while, too. It's not as easy as you think. Hopefully you'll never have to find out. I'm with Jessica.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Mina,

Most abused persons are women and children. Biology is a willing participate too. For most men are physically dominate to women/kids.

So your last statement is ridiculous.

  27. You are truly the dumbest bitch I have seen in a long time.
"As Lady J said she didn't say anything until her album was due"
So you think the hospital took the photos and handed them to Rhianna so she could sell them secretly at a point in time to get attention?

Get your lazy ass over to the original article and see that they say there is a hospital worker with a latex glove holding a ruler up to her injuries in the pictures. This isn't some iPhone sh*t she took while she was hanging out waiting for a doctor to look at her.
    You need mental help. Seriously.

  28. Since Chris Brown has been slowly climbing back up the fame ladder. I gotta say release them. He has no business getting back what he once had.

Though it might be humilating to Rihanna. The bigger picture is it will send a clear message to women in abusive situations to get out becuase violence just escalates.

    ReplyDelete
  29. People always try to sweep domestic violence under the rug. Maybe the new pictures will make a few more people stop listening to Chris Brown's music. (And I wouldn't still be supporting a boycott if he had made any attempt at a sincere apology.)

    ReplyDelete
  30. And you sound like anti-social scum having a fit.

What the hell are you even talking about? I wasn't talking about the picture, I meant that she refused to talk about the incident until her album came out.

@rebellious: I wasn't talking about victims of abuse in general, I was talking about the relationship of Rihanna and Chris Brown.
I'm not at all saying that what Chris Brown did was right but sometimes there are two sides of the story. Although he is obviously stronger than her it could have been the case that she knew exactly how to push his buttons and might have swung a punch at him too sometimes. Of course, that doesn't excuse his actions and he should have walked away instead of hitting her but just like people say that it was hard for her to leave him the same could be said for Chris Brown too. You can be violent and abusive to someone without attacking them physically.

@Rocket Queen: I don't agree with what you wrote. I would have agreed if you had said that she has the right to talk about it or not but since she decided to talk about it and use it to promote her career she has the responsibility to make it clear how serious this matter is and for me she failed to do this.
This is my opinion and I'm entitled to it.

Btw, who said that I didn't suffer from domestic abuse, too? It doesn't always have to involve a boyfriend.

Whatever you think about the song's content....her voice sounds so beautiful singing that.

  32. I think she was pressured into not talking about the beating by her record company and Jay-Z. I believe that's why she started getting all the ink, she can't say and think what she wants, so the ink speaks as long as she says nothing. It's all about business.

I think the photos were taken by a trained person at the hospital, many times a victim won't allow the police to photograph them and if they try the victim won't even consent to a rape kit. There are trained people on each shift to work with victims of violence. I believe that person has the copies of the photos. She didn't defy her record company before so she won't defy them again, making it pointless to put her through the shame and humiliation a second or third time.

Chris Brown needs his ass beat but not at her expense.

  33. we're overlooking the obvious. the pix could be:
    1. stolen
    2. from public record, since both parties were identified at the time if the assault.
    3. taken by a pap who smuggled himself in.
    4. taken by a friend.

2-4 means they are privately owned and the owner has the right to sell them.
if stolen, if there are no proof of ownership, then i guess finders keepers.

and i think they SHOULD be published. when old friends get together and somebody pulls out old, horrific photos, we're reminded why we never did THAT thing again.
if she absolutely refuses, then she should have her wish. but you know they will show up online.
