Johnny Depp Helps 9 Year Old With Her Mutiny

In one of the best stories I have read in a few weeks, Johnny Depp showed up at a school in Greenwich, England today in response to a letter from a 9 year old girl. The girl wrote Johnny that she needed his help because she wanted to organize a mutiny against her teachers.Well, with just ten minutes notice to the school, Johnny showed up in full Pirates Of The Caribbean costume along with other cast members from the movie.

Johnny spent 15 minutes performing for the students and dancing with fellow cast members. "He said the pirates were going to take over the school and only eat candy and our teeth would turn black and fall out," added the 9 year old girl. "But he said we shouldn't mutiny against the teachers because there were police outside and we might get into trouble."

I am really happy for this little girl. The only thing I ever got when I wrote to celebrities when I was a kid was a big mailbox full of nothing so yay for Beatrice. (Thanks Aimee)

  2. How charming.

For his next act, let's hear Johnny Depp explain why he sighed that "Set Roman Polanski Free" petition when we all know damned well that he wouldn't let that Polish perv within 50 feet of Depp's own daughter unsupervised.

  3. "In one of the best stories I have read in a few weeks ..."

Gee, Enty, does that mean your hatred for Johnny Depp is a thing of the past?

  4. Sorry, meant SIGNED not SIGHED. Those hypocritical Hollywood assholes get me a bit wired.

  5. Normally, I'd say something snarky and cutting...but when it comes to Johnny Depp, I only have nothing but the upmost respect for him.

When he does stuff like this, I only gain more respect for him.

Now if Allison Mack would only answer my letter about coming over and singing jazz songs to me....

  6. This is what we love about Johnny Depp. He has also visited children's hospitals as Capt. Jack Sparrow.

  7. This is why I love him....now if I'd only known that all I had to do was write him a letter and that he'd come play pirate games with me, I would have done it long ago!

  10. This story brought a smile to my face and a tear to my eye. (Damn you, pregnancy hormones!)

  11. I'm with Mango. The whole "signing the petition in defense of Polanski" just really doesn't fit in with all the other stuff I love about him. I wish his agent or SOMEONE would address it. Maybe Polanski rescued him from drowning when he was a teenager? Then I'd let it go.

  12. Or maybe he just has his own opinion on the matter.

  13. I loved this too! He is talking directly to the girl too.

  14. Well he did more than sign the petition. He was in Polanski's Ninth Gate awhile back.

I want to be angry with Depp, but he was super nice to a friend of mine who worked on one of his movie crews (PoC 2-3). I'm torn.

I love him. He's special. He's not like all the other actors.

  20. if i disliked everyone because of their opinions i'd have no friends.

i don't think he needs to come out and say anything,it's his politics not mine. he's an actor not a politician, he owes me nothing.

    IMO lol.

  21. This story made me all warm and fuzzy inside.

  22. To all the people who said he signed the petition - please link to a legitimate website that says his name was on it. What I recall is that the only position he's ever taken is in that interview at a film festival where he stated he didn't know why they were going after Polanski after all these years.

@Shegundala - Thanks. Apparently most of the people on this site are in favor of free speech until someone says something they don't like.

  23. I'm with Jax and the others who allow people to have their own opinions.

As for THIS -- what an absolutely cool thing to do.

This is the cooliest! My 8 year old loves Captain Jack...but I don't think he would think of writing a letter like this. The world needs more of this kind of thing. Happiest thing I've read all week.

  25. Aww, man! I love him for this!

  26. Lucky girl - they're filming at an old Naval College down the road from this school.

WHat I find endearing about JD is that he always comes to the defense of people everybody else is dumping on. Perhaps the reason for his lack of judgement in the RP affair. He looked drunk or stoned in the vid from Serbia, as well.
