Janelle And Meri Were In-Laws Before Becoming Sister Wives
This Sister Wives stuff just keeps getting more strange by the week. In a report in Star this week, it turns out that prior to Janelle and Meri becoming sister wives, Janelle was legally married to Meri's brother. Yep. Janelle and Meri's brother Adam were married for 2 years before calling it quits. Meri was really hurt by the actions of Janelle who she blamed on the demise of the marriage. Then three years later Meri is having to share Janelle with her husband Kody.
Janelle seems like the only one that doesn't have any jealousy or issues with the other wives - I've seen the other 3 cry about it but not her. She also said she'd rather go to work than be at home with the kids so this lifestyle suits her - someone else there to watch the kids, cook, clean etc. And she only has to deal with that dufus Cody 1 night out of the week!My ? is - why do the wives drive beat up crappy cars when Cody has a Lexus and a new SUV?!?!
ReplyDeleteI can barely wrap my head around all this, yet I can't spot watching. It's like Amish Jersey Shore.
ReplyDelete*Mormon. Je m'excuse.
ReplyDeletedid anyone see Kody dance during the wedding cake tasting? Oh.My.God.
ReplyDeleteEvery time I see them all I can think of is when they were discussing bringing Robin into the group, Janelle was all cool and said "He deserves a cute one" and Meri was like "I'm cute! *pout*".
ReplyDeleteDoes she not own a mirror?
which one is Meri? i've never watched the show, i just can't quite bring myself to do it. to me it just seems so...wrong! i don't even know how else to put it! it would be so hard to not be jealous 24/7. i wonder how much underlying anger there is between Meri and Janelle because of their previous dealings...craziness.
ReplyDelete@chrissy: meri is the one on his right, our left. janelle is the other one. im surprised at how much divorce is in this family!
ReplyDeleteso Janelle is the 'plump' one, then. wow, yeah, Meri isn't exactly what i would call cute, poor thing! hahaha!
ReplyDeleteI had no idea about Janelle being married to Meri's sister. I am almost embarrassed to admit that I have seen all the episodes of the show *hanging head in shame*. But yes, Mandy, I wondered too about why he drives this Lexus sports car that looks so spiffy, and then they show Janelle getting into her car where the drivers side window is taped on. Jesus. And with all those kids, not practical either.
ReplyDeletelol@Jessica
ReplyDeleteThese people are super ugly and it scares me that they breed.
ReplyDeleteI saw that taped up window - how sad! Most of those poor kids look just like Kody. My daughter calls it the Real Housewives of Utah. As with all Real Housewife shows, we're going to see some divorces before this train wreck is done.
ReplyDeleteLike the Mormon Jersey Shore!
ReplyDeleteHA!!!!
Awesome
ITA about the cars. THe beggining opened with him sleazing it up in his tiny sports car and I was like how many kids do you have motha f--ker?!
ReplyDeleteLovely.
He is in sales, so he probably has nice cars to shmooze clients - the Lexus may be a Co. car. Nothing else they have seems ostentatious. Also, Janelle may be the plump one, but she's actually the prettiest and the most cool by far. The other one, Christine is high strung like a Chihuahua, but well suited to their life-style. Meri seems the least suited, but seems to be the one that scopes out and brings in all the new wives...so you never know. I'm not caring for the newest one and see that they might have some problems down the road with her. Yeah, I watch it. I wanted to see what a real-life Big Love was like. I think they are surprisingly "normal" and I don't see anything wrong with how they live if all "marriages" are between consensual adults. Particularly since they are not pushing their choices or their religion on their kids. They seem very open to whatever they want to do and whatever they want to believe as long as they're happy. Some days I'd like to have a 2nd wife to pass my mom/housewife responsibilities on to - in some ways it's got to be nice to have that fallback. The whole sharing my man thing, I don't know if I'd be keen on.
ReplyDeleteI've watched this train wreck since the beginning even tho Kody makes me want to hurl. I tell myself its because I want to understand how this idiot can not only marry an intelligent, (and yes, I think Meri is attractive) beautiful woman but then convince her to help him find other women to spend his time with. Have them all get along and like it. This guy is living every mans dream. Four women, three work, one stays home and takes care of the kids and house. Sex in a different bed every night. I'm willing to bet he never touches a dish.
ReplyDeleteI decided its because he looks them in the eye screws up his face in concentration and listens to what they are saying. He lets them finish without interrupting or getting defensive, and acknowledges even if he doesn't agree. During the few minutes he spends with each woman alone, he hugs them tightly, looks them in the eyes and tells them how important they are to him. If he could bottle that, or teach it or something, the divorce rate in this country would tank.
@Melissa, i know what you mean about splitting wifely responsibilities! it would also be kind of nice to have a friend to chit chat with when the hubby wasn't there...but i think the sharing HIM part would be the hard part! hhhmmm, maybe i should get a maid instead of encouraging my husband to get another wife! hahaha!
ReplyDeleteWhatever.
ReplyDeleteThe show is somehow really boring.
ReplyDelete@Anotheramy you're right! That's exactly it. He is completely present and available with each of them. Now that I think about it, even though my husband is fantastic, he's rarely THAT completely focused on
ReplyDeleteME. Kody does it times FOUR - he seems to spread himself around with the kids, too. He looks completely douchy, but I guess there's something there. He's got it down.
@Chrissy - when I had a part-time nanny (I had triplets) I LOVED being able to discuss the topic on Oprah with her as we folded laundry and having the ability to run out and do errands while she stayed with my babies and CLEANED. The best part was knowing that she loved my babies almost as much as I did and we could share that, too. It was like having a sister-wife that wasn't sleeping with my husband. She was family. I grieved when she moved away! That's probably where my fascination stems from.
I watched this show and found it very interesting. So what if they were married previously, etc. What matters now is that they get along and seem to have a great relationships amongst each other.
ReplyDeleteThe next reality show should be an Intervention that deals with inbreeding and it's consequences. Pulling out children from those dysfunctional environments and reprogramming them to be healthy productive humans that don't victimize children. I could probably be the poster child for the dental episode!
ReplyDeleteTo the poster above me, do you know the definition of "inbreeding"? This is NOT inbreeding. The parents on this show are NOT genetically related. Sheesh.
ReplyDeleteAdditionally, you meant "its" and not "it's."
@Melissa, i wanted a nanny SSSOOOO bad when my twins were born because i already had 2 other small children, and i was so lonely and overwhelmed! if anyone had asked me about sister wives during that time, i probably would have said "yes please!!!" hahaha!
