Did Tyra Banks Kidnap A 15 Year Old Girl?
If this is true, and I emphasize the word if, Tyra Banks could be in for a lot of trouble. A woman in Georgia has sued Tyra Banks after the woman's 15 year old daughter was on Tyra's show without the permission of the mother. It does not sound so horrible until you also realize that the girl was flown to New York, put up in a hotel room for the night and was on a show about sex addicts. The mom called police and filled out a missing persons report when her daughter did not show up after school and also says that he daughter is not a sex addict and that Tyra paid the daughter despite not getting permission from the labor commissioner to do so.
This happened in 2009 and the woman is suing for $3M. WTF Tyra? She needs to explain this or defend herself because you can't just go around parents just to fill up a few minutes of your television show.
[head thrown back in laughter]
ReplyDeleteWhat the what-what?
If this is true why did the mother wait an entire YEAR before filing charges against Tyra. I am not a Tyra fan but sounds like the mother is looking for $$$$.
ReplyDeleteNot to defend Tyra, but you know damn well that is the responsibility of the show's producers. They are the ones that come up with topics and line up guests.
ReplyDeleteSex Addict? 15? That screams legal issues all over it!
ReplyDeletethe writing of this post seems off.
ReplyDeleteI'm rolling my eyes at this story. Really, she's suing when the show has gone off the air.
ReplyDeleteSounds like someone is an uninvolved parent, and now the world knows.
Aren't there releases and other legal paperwork involved?
ReplyDeleteEspecially given the child is a minor - someone (the mother) is trying to run a scam.
I can't wait to see how this plays out.
Yeah, something is off about this story. I find it hard to believe the producers wouldn't cover their asses on something like this - it's not like none of them have ever done this before.
ReplyDeleteI'm with RocketQueen, I can't believe everyone involved with that show messed up simultaneously. Something is definitely fishy.
ReplyDeleteUm, a 15 y.o. girl who apparently looks 18 showed up with a fake I.D. Gee, that's never happened before.
ReplyDeleteWhy did the mother wait until now to pursue this?
Assuming you're right and that's what happened, weezy, Tyra has nothing to worry about.
ReplyDeleteI'm no Tyra fan but this story stinks. I smell a money hungry parent with their palms out for the $$$$.
ReplyDeleteSEx Addicts are a dime a dozen these days. No show has to go to stupid lengths to find one.
I am with the people calling this fishy.
ReplyDeleteMaybe she was in talks with them but it broke down and now she has gone to civil court to get an action done.
ReplyDeleteBesides....I've forged my parents signature before so that is a possibilty and if this is true the girl probably said she doesn't live with her family anymore or doesn't know where they are.
We don't know what happened....let's just hope that someone was smart enough to dot their i's and cross their t's.
I didn't realize Tyra's show was still on the air..?
ReplyDeleteGood luck w/ that lawsuit, GA lady. I'm sure Tyra will find a way around it, if it is true. $3 million sounds like an awful lot of money for this. The mother is probably just pissed/mortified.
Gawker says the girl forged her mom's name on the permission papers, but even so, the show didn't blink an eye about her travelling to the taping and staying alone at the hotel. Given they were dealing with a minor, you'd think it would be good CYA to insist ta parent accompany the minor, just to make sure it's all okay.
ReplyDeleteWorse yet, the girl was raped at nine and apparently has been sexually acting out with adult men. That's not a sex addict, that's a minor victim who has been repeatedly abused by adults. NOT an appropriate subject for a show about sex addicts.
i actually need to see this episode. i think my friend Andrea said she knew someone on it.
ReplyDeletesomething about going to AC blablabla idk i'm not sure.
OK, the mom may have been after Banks/WB for a couple of years now and was either ignored or brushed off -- hence the suit. I'll give her that.
ReplyDeleteKind of dumb of the show's staff to let a girl --*even* if she's over 18 -- with her history travel and stay in a hotel alone. So they just wanted a scandalous guest and didn't do a risk assessment on this booking?
