Burt & Loni To Do A TV Show?
According to The National Enquirer, Burt Reynolds and Loni Anderson are going to film a new sitcom together. When I read this I was shocked because I thought they still could not stand each other. The Enquirer says Loni is doing it to help Burt revive his career. The show will be about two seniors who live in a senior home and argue all the time. Hmmm. The good news is that it will be written by Norman Lear so it has a chance to be good. Then you realize that it is Burt Reynolds we are talking about here. He has only ever had one character he plays, but it might be nice to see him on television again since most people under the age of 30 probably have no idea who he is or that he used to be the biggest star in the world back in the day. He and Loni kept the tabloids in business all by themselves for about a year.
Just so long as he doesn't walk around naked and covered in vaseline again!
ReplyDeleteI loved his last TV Show, Evening Shade. That was pretty funny.
ReplyDeleteI didn't think Norman Lear was still around.
I loved him on My Name Is Earl.
ReplyDeleteI used to always wonder what happened between these two? For a while they were hot and heavy, they finally get married adopt a son and divorced quickly thereafter, without any explanation at all. If they stayed married a week it was long. Enty if you know any juicy gossip on these two, spill it, lol
I don't think he always plays the same character. He played very different characters in his early career and certainly in Boogie Nights.
ReplyDeleteThis could be fun or it could be a major disaster.
ReplyDeleteHuh? Loni is doing it to help Burt revive his career?? I'd say her career needs a lot more reviving!
ReplyDeletei don't think that's entirely fair. burt was never offered serious roles because his persona was what people wanted to see.
ReplyDeletethere's one notable exception, however. he was brilliant in 'deliverance.' if anyone thinks he's always burt reynolds, they should watch him play lewis in that movie. he was great.
"it's time for burt reynold's mustache! it's time for burt reynold's mustache!"
ReplyDeletethat's about all i know about him. and im under 30.
I think he's a pretty good actor. Yes, he may have gone to the "Smokey and the Bandit" well too often, but he's been really good in lots of other movies. I also loved "Evening Shade". For those of you in the under-30 set, see if they have old episodes on Hulu. They're nice. I think this has potential, especially if Norman Lear is involved. Again, I'd rather watch old, but real, stars on tv and read about them in the tabloids than have all these so-called personalities that Bravo, MTV, TLC, and E! are shoving down our throats. Give me Loni and Burt anyday over those icky Kardashians or that trash giving Jersy a bad name.
ReplyDeleteBurt Reynolds was great in Deliverance and Boogie Nights. I think he is a pretty good actor, but liked the money. I will always remember him for breaking Sally Field's heart. He was all she would talk about for a while.
ReplyDeleteMonatanaMarriott: Burt was screwing around on Loni with some one from Florida. He met her through his theater he had there and was messing around with her pretty much the whole time he was with Loni. Their divorce was very bitter. The tabloids were full of it for weeks.
ReplyDeleteI loved him in White Lightning, a great movie from the 70's. it is dated and violent but it was a great drive in movie. I also loved the Longest Yard and Semi Tough. He was also in a cop show on ABC in the very early 70's(only got two stations back then!) called Dan August. It was all kinds of awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteI had forgotten hhe was in Deliverance. That was one scary movie.
ReplyDeleteDeliverance, and Sharky's Machine, were two of my faves, but Longest Yard was excellent, and Boogie Nights is enthralling, just enthralling to me. I loved it, and every character in it.
ReplyDeleteI'll watch.
On a semi-related note (it's thin, but bear with me), I just read they might be re-doing "Dallas". I would be SO INTO THAT. Imagine? They're throwing Josh Holloway's name around. Awesome.
ReplyDeleteBurt was one bad ass mo-fo in Deliverance. (I love telling people who've never seen that movie all about it... hilarious the way their eyes bug out, LOL.)
ReplyDeleteBurt was on Burn Notice last season and was curiously waxen, like a caricature of himself and he's known here in FL for being a class-A jerk, but if he can pull in the ratings and has a good writer his show might be a success.
Whoa skeeball, I can't believe you referenced White Lightning!! They had Burt Reynolds week on a movie channel I have and White Lightning was one of the movies they played. Its classic 70s Burt.
ReplyDeleteI thought the Enquirer had him on Death Watch (I hate that term) or something though, after that fall he had a few mos ago.
