Kirsten Dunst Purse Thief Gets 4 Years In Prison

There are now two men sitting in jail in New York for the theft of a $2,000 purse belonging to Kirsten Dunst. One of the men also had two trials before finally being sentenced to 4 years in jail. I would guess the State Of New York spent about $40,000 to try the guy twice. They will also spend another $160,000 on him while he is in jail. His partner in crime will also have $160,000 spent on him by the taxpayers of New York.

$360,000 is a lot of money to spend on two guys who stole one purse in a non-violent crime. Now, in this particular case I think the guys in jail are not some innocent victims. The first guy convicted is also probably a drug dealer and the second guy who had to be tried twice seems a little dangerous. I still am not sure whether the pair were invited or not invited into Kirsten Dunst's hotel room and if Kirsten did commit perjury when discussing her drug use she may be looking at some jail time too. It does blow my mind that if these two guys had been drunk off their ass and slammed into a car and done more than $2,000 damage but no injuries occurred that they probably would have received no jail time, but because they walked out of a hotel room with a purse they each get 4 years in jail.

  1. That seems a little steep to me, but perhaps they have been in trouble for this sort of stuff before.

  4. Considering the latest round of LiLo/Paris shenannigans, this does seem a little steep. And pricey.

  5. Why is she carrying such a cheap purse?

  6. At our local precinct community council meeting the captain explained that the judge and parole staff will calculate sentencing based on the level of the crime (this was grand larceny, I think) combined with the defendant's criminal record. The money spent on the trial and incarceration may be a good investment for the city of NY -- these guys probably pled down from more severe charges (including other pending cases not mentioned in the press) and will be off the street for an extended period.

So does this mean that Parasite will get jail time like they did since she has a record and for the crime she committed?

  8. Only if the DA has enough evidence to force a plea deal or support the expense of a trial. She and her peeps probably pulled a Lizzie Grubman and bought off/cleaned away most or all evidence before NYPD thought to focus on her.
