Jennifer Grey decided that before she took on something as arduous as Dancing With The Stars she should have an old injury from a car wreck looked at. So, she went to the doctor and he said that if she is an accident that she could possibly be paralyzed. I know, I know. That sounds serious enough as it is, but at the same appointment the doctor pointed out a lump on Jennifer Grey's neck.
She told Zap2It.com, "The doctor asked, What's that lump in your neck?' I said, 'Oh, it's just a benign nodule that I've been watching for four years.' I didn't want to have surgery for it, but he said, 'That has to go.' They took out half of it, and it turned out to be cancerous. Then they took the second half out on Christmas Eve."
I am glad she is ok, and it sounds like it could have been something that turned out a whole lot worse. I also can't believe she decided to have surgery to remove a cancerous lump on Christmas Eve.
I don't understand the link to DWTS...so she knew at around this time last year that she was going to be on?

ReplyDeleteI guess that they pick their slots, and are talked about from Season to Season, then if they get chosen, they get chosen. Probably had something to do with Swayze's illness and death.

ReplyDeleteWas the old injury from the car accident with Matthew Broderick? He was driving in England on the 'wrong' side of the road and hit another car head on. Killed both those people. I remember Matthew was pretty banged up. I can't remember what injuries Jennifer had.
ReplyDeleteIt was Ireland...and she wasn't hurt as badly as he was, she hung around till he was better...I think she missed the opening of Dirty Dancing..

Nice Jewish girl, whose father is Joel Grey and whose grandfather was Mickey Katz. Look 'em up if you don't know...it's worth it.
ReplyDeleteMatthew Broderick had it bad too. They were all very injured, and those two were lucky to be alive, the older couple died.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Jennifer Grey is Jewish, I don't know why she would want sympathy from us about Christmas Eve. I do know though that some Jewish kids still celebrate Christmas with friends. Tory Spelling said she had a Christmas Tree and made gifts for her friends.
Apart from yes, she's Jewish and "Christmas Eve" was probably faster to say than "last week of December" and glad she's ok... I've been waiting since she was announced for DWTS for someone to remark that she was a trained dancer before Dirty Dancing. She's Joel Grey's daughter for god's sake!

ReplyDeleteWhen we were li'l kids in NYC we had neighbors who were Jewish and they, of course, didn't celebrate Christmas but their little boy Jesse loooooved our Christmas tree so they got one and called it a "Hanukkah Bush" to appease him.
