Fox Laughed And Laughed When Jennifer Lopez Wanted A Guaranteed Movie
So, Jennifer Lopez is going to be a new judge on American Idol. I think we saw that one coming for a long time. It also turned out that Jennifer had absolutely no bargaining power at all. She kept trying to get things from Fox and they just kept saying no. In the end, apparently Jennifer needed the job way more than Fox needed her so Fox got their way.
According to Deadline, Jennifer wanted a guaranteed "go" picture. Fox, reminding her that her movie career is even worse than Jennifer Aniston said no. So, then Jennifer said she wanted a bunch of pilots for television guaranteed to get made. Fox just laughed and laughed and said no. Jennifer then asked for $15M a year to judge and Fox said no. Jennifer finally settled for $12M. A lot of money, but it is so nice to see her get turned down on everything she wanted.
The problem is that being on American Idol will probably get her some of those things she wanted and after several years of her having no career it has been nice not having to see her all the time. Oh, the one concession she did get was the announcement is going to be made at the same time her new single is released. You know, so that way she can show all the contestants on Idol that you can just use an AutoTune and a bunch of production to get a record made and don't really need any talent whatsoever.
Isn't she supposed to be the answer to the blind about using someone elses voice for her recordings?
ReplyDeleteHELLO MV!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteBeing on AmIdol is a two-edged sword. Yeah, if JLo is great and the show is great then she's going to get some action. But if she sux and the show bombs worse than last year then she's going to be known as the one who killed AmIdol. And I'm betting on the latter more than the former.
ReplyDelete$12 million is a lot for someone no one wants to pay to see.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it will lead to movie deals... it will take away any mystery that still exists (none does).
Regarding TV... if a miracle occurs and she comes off as interesting and likeable, she could get a development deal. Big IF.
There's something they're not telling us. I just know Marc Antony's got a guaranteed placement on Fox somewhere in that contract.
ReplyDelete12 Million....that's settling...settle with me...
ReplyDeleteshe's not worth that much money, and won't be on the show for years. Do you really think the show has years left in it ?
Can you just imagine Jennifer Lopez on a sitcom?? She is not funny, has no comic timing and we'd probably get treated to something abysmal like JLo playing a spunky diner waitress living in a shabby/chic studio apartment trying to make it big as a singer. Maybe with guest appearances! P-Diddy playing someone whose limo breaks down in the wrong part of town and slums it at the diner for a meal ("Waitress? What's...meatloaf?"); Marc Anthony as a big-time record producer who offers Jenny a deal...if she'll go out with him, and of course she has morals and values and refuses his overtures. No casting couch for our Jenny from the Block! She'll make it by sheer hard work and talent! Oh, PUKE!
ReplyDeleteOh Mango...too funny. "What's meatloaf?"
ReplyDeleteI would happily have Fox executives laugh at me for $12 million a year.
ReplyDelete@Mango - watch out or you'll get a development deal from NBC.
ReplyDeletelooserdude: At first I thought AmIdol was some sort of Fox-issued meds Jlo was high on....lol.
ReplyDeleteI think she got $11,999,500 too much.
ReplyDeleteI already felt that Simon leaving would guarantee AI ending after this next season, but JLo puts that final nail in the coffin. I can't stand her & hope that she will be largely blamed for the downfall so I can be spared from her showing up in front of a camera ever again. She's getting $12m so I can't feel too sorry for her. Dumb call, producers.
ReplyDeleteI still always think MV is someone we THINK can really sing, not someone we already KNOW can't sing!
ReplyDeleteThey should have told her "you will get 3 million to do it and you will like it!" - she probably would have done it.
ReplyDeleteIn other news, I won't be watching so I wouldn't care if they got JLo or Bozo the clown. Although I might watch if it were Bozo.
we should place bets on how long it will take fox to regret that decision...i soooooo don't like her...she's a jerk and i don't like her, but she does have a great work ethic--good b/c it makes up for lack of actual chops...and props to her bronx rough and tumble tenacious haggle attitude. as for her judging ability...well, it's sad...the real talent there is marc...but it's not like he wants or needs fox...dude is an a-lister in latin market, currently on a massive sold out tour. good for him. now lay down the pipe.
ReplyDeleteIt does my heart good to hear this.
ReplyDelete@Pookie: "Lay down the pipe" in what sense?
@Mango: Are you sure you never worked in Hollywood?
@looserdude - fingers crossed! (As if that tired formula hadn't been done a dozen times before but that's the LaLaLand way.)
ReplyDelete@Robert - no, but I could in a California minute! I have a few connections (C-List, lol) but I get to hear some juicy gossip sometimes, especially from my gay actor BFF there. He keeps telling me I should move out to LA and become an agent or manager. Sounds intoxicating but I would be gossiping/blogging about all the crapola and would get driven out of town by villagers with torches.
OK, now Mango, you have got to send Enty the good stuff.
ReplyDeleteMarc Anthony has alent and can sing. But he is so coked out, that you can't get to it, like Whitney Houston. But Marc has talent.
ReplyDeleteJ Lo? Meh, nothing.

I dont like her. Her true colors have come out once too many.
ReplyDelete12 Million?? How much was Kara DioGuardi-whatever getting paid??
ReplyDeleteJennifer Lopez is FUNNY! hahahaha
WAIT A MINUTE. Isn't that, like, $10 million more than Paula Abdul was making when she asked for a raise and they pissed all over her? Gross.
ReplyDeleteIs the $12M worth it to Fox because of all the people who'll tune in just to watch JLo demonstrate she's only worth $3M at best?
ReplyDeleteWill they at least give her a cameo on "The Simpsons"?
