"Your Driving Was Extremely Poor"
After wading through hundreds of people and photographers and news crews, George Michael appeared in court today where he admitted he crashed his car while under the influence of pot. The judge took away his drivers license for six months and scheduled sentencing for September 14th. The judge said George might face jail when he returns for sentencing but I seriously doubt it. The judge already gave himself some wiggle room because he wants a report on the effect a medication George was taking at the time would have on his driving. That sounds like the kind of excuses Pete Doherty always manages to find. That and he probably sold himself to some of the judges when he was doing that kind of thing for a living.
Anyway, my favorite part of the judge's speech was this, "It is a serious matter. Your driving was extremely poor and there was an accident." Well, yes, if you crash into a store window, I would say your driving was poor. It is kind of like saying if you had just driven better and were caught, at least we would have something to work with to avoid jail, but in this case your driving was extremely poor.
I love how the British can take something like this but keep it classy and reserved.
He's rich he will get off and for the next couple of months hire a driver to take him to all the gay restrooms so he can get his man on!
ReplyDeleteSince GM has admittedly turned his life over to drugs, I don't understand why he just doesn't have a full-time driver on staff. He certainly can afford it.
ReplyDeleteGM really pisses me off. He is such a great artist, and he's just pissing it all away.
Listen Without Prejudice is one of my most fav albums ever. And I am proud fan of Wham!
Really hoping George gets it together.
Susan: I too am a proud Wham! fan. He is so talented, but I've been waiting for years for him to pull himself together.
ReplyDeleteClub Tropicana, drinks are free......
I am a huge GM fan myself but I have always been curious why someone becomes self destructive all of a sudden? He was not like this before. I think as with Amy Winehouse ALLEGEDLY, I think GM discovered he is positive and just doesn't give a f*ck. I know his first lover died from AIDS, so that could explain the change in behavior.
ReplyDeleteMontana, I thought he refused to get tested because he doesn't want to know.
ReplyDeletePerhaps the courts will actually start treating him like any of us would be treated when he finally kills someone. Fuck you, George.
ReplyDeleteWow I had no clue but surely even if he refused to be tested he would know if he had symptoms, thus confirming his worst fear, I would think @sunnyside
ReplyDeleteI loved Wham & GM too....I wish he'd get his shit together.
ReplyDeleteI remember the blind about the famous singer with AIDS but I don't remember the reveal. Many had assumed it was Whitney, but Amy makes lots of sense.
ReplyDeleteWatched a friend of mine destroy himself with spiraling lifestyle after he found out he was HIV+
It's a shame.
Oh yeah - but I don't really think that's what GM is doing, I think he's just having a good time.
Agree Susan - just pay someone already! The Faith album - just awesome.
ReplyDeleteAs someone raised in Britain but with a different culture, the reserved side of them always make me smile, particularly apologising when you're not at fault such as someone barging past you. I do it too, so funny.
ReplyDeleteRe GM, until something really bad occurs, he'll keep going.

ReplyDelete*WHY* doesn't he just get a chauffeur? It would surely cost less than all of the fallout from his "incidents".
ReplyDeleteDoes he definitely have a lot of money?
ReplyDeletesaw him twice, once in 1988 and once in 2008. both times AMAZING.
ReplyDeletehe has shit together,he just needs a driver and something to do during the day. dude is bored.
*Sigh*. I, too, love GM. However, I agree with everyone who says the man needs a full time driver. He seriously gives potheads a bad name. Quite a few of us function very well, tyvm, and don't appreciate having high profile incidents for people to point to as reasons that pot should stay illegal. And, yeah, I can definitely see him killing someone if he doesn't stop driving : (
