Steven Tyler Says He Is New American Idol Judge
Although all the contract details have not been completed, Steven Tyler made an announcement after a Las Vegas concert Saturday night that he is going to be a judge on American Idol next season. He said that his future plans include making a new album and that he will also be a judge on American Idol.
I actually think it is a great hire for Idol. It will bring some attention and the guy knows a thing or two about making it in the music industry. Plus he is 62 years old and keeps getting injured on stage so this will be a chance for him to take a break while still staying in the public eye. Despite the low ratings over the past few years, Idol is still watched by a ton of people, many of whom probably do not know a great deal about Aerosmith or Steven Tyler so this will be a chance for him to expose himself to a bunch of new people and to pump up his own album sales while making a few bucks at a very easy job.
Does anyone care about AI anymore?
ReplyDeleteI haven't cared about AI in years, but I would watch for Steven Tyler and the hope that singers/song selections will have more rock and blues rather than MOR crap.
ReplyDeleteI'm still undecided about this. However, I hope he makes JLo look foolish when she tries to critique the performances on musical merit.
ReplyDeleteoohh this will truly turn out to be a hot mess season!
ReplyDeleteI may have to watch again! LOL
Steven T could be amusing but the JLo hire is too lame to support... the show will be all about her trying to make it all about her when no one is watching for her.
ReplyDeleteI have never watched an episode in my entire life, only seen clips on the Soup, but I would probably try to watch Steven Tyler!
ReplyDeleteAs long as Ryan Seacrest is on the show I don't care who is judging--I can't watch this show. Yes to me he is really that annoying.
ReplyDeleteI've said it before: I love American Idol (it's one of the only tv shows I watch) and it makes me sick to see its creators mishandling it. It's like watching someone drive your beloved sports car 100 miles per hour toward a brick wall. Aerosmith sucks. I don't know anybody outside of Long Island who likes them. Steven Tyler is a joke. Jennifer Lopez is a star-fucking talentless wannabe. The X Factor doesn't debut until after Idol finishes next season ... why do they feel the need to stunt cast already? A better choice for judge would be Tommy Mottola. Hell, even famous producers like Nile Rodgers, Mutt Lange (as if), Rick Rubin would be more qualified and much, much better.
ReplyDeleteAs for those who ask who care about Idol anymore, ME. I do. I love the show and I'm obviously not the only one as it still won its time slot for nearly the entire season.
Fox announced no deals have been made with anyone.
ReplyDeleteI do think Jennifer Lopez is a lock for the whole season. But Steven Tyler might of put the cart before the horse.
I don't think he will be the 3rd Judge. Maybe for a guest judge week but not the entire season.
glad i'm not the only one who thinks aerosmith sucks
ReplyDeleteYeah, I read "probably" a judge.
ReplyDeleteI also hate Aerosmith. Everything they put out in the 90s and 00s is just awful. Unless you're a stripper or looking for a wedding first dance song (or both), there's no need for Aerosmith to exist.
ReplyDeleteHe's such a joke. All that plastic surgery to look like a rough, older version of Julia Roberts.
I hate AI and can't understand why anyone watches it but I definitly wouldn't watch it with him. JLo maybe because she's beautiful so I'd want to see what she's wearing.
I agree with Chopchop's suggestion of judges.
Shayna punim!
ReplyDeleteIf Steven is an idol judge, I will watch this season, even though I didn't think I would. I don't live on Long Island (any more) but I love Aerosmith. I'm not alone, they fill stadiums all over the world. And, I don't find Seacrest annoying--I think he's an excellent MC.
ReplyDeleteAwesomeness. I might just finally break down and watch it.
ReplyDeleteDamn! All the Aerosmith hate! I love them. To each his own.
ReplyDeleteSidenote: Am not a stripper. :-)
I love Steven Tyler. I'm not sure about this decision but HEY, why not. Can't be any worse than last season?
