Obligatory Bachelorette Post - Spoilers Too In Case You Watch

So, I knew I was going to have to write this post because I feel an obligation to at least make a pretense of caring about The Bachelor and Bachelorette. Unlike other competitive reality shows which I love like Survivor or Amazing Race or Top Chef or Project Runway, it seems that celebrity status seems to only come to Bachelor contestants. Sometimes the Project Runway winner or someone really unique from one of the other shows will get 15 minutes, but for some reason we are always stuck with a Bachelor or Bachelorette for a very long time.

Anyway, I watched the show last night. I had not watched all season but I have been keeping up so at least I would know what I was talking about today. I have to admit that I actually liked the final show last night. To me it looked real. To me it looked like Ali and Roberto were in love. I liked how she didn't leave Chris on the hook and make him look or feel even worse. Do I think Ali and Roberto will be together forever? See, that gets you into trouble because none of these things ever work out, BUT the one that has been the most successful was a Bachelorette so there is hope. I think though that Ali loves being the center of attention and is loving this being famous thing and having paps take her picture and if she goes off to a corner somewhere and gets married that it will all go away.

Can she give that up? Fame is tough to walk away from when you get a taste of it. What do you think? Is it going to last?

  1. I have to admit, I liked it too. I totally agree with you though ET - Ali will most likely need too much attention from elsewhere for this relationship to last. In my opinion, he is way too nice for her. She was a snot in Jake's season.

  2. Reality Steve has been writing that Ali didn't pick anyone and was now single, so I was shocked last night when Ali and Roberto got engaged.

I liked this season okay, but the contrived drama (Rated R? Frank?) gets old.

I read that they have already moved to San Diego, (America's Finest City), which is a great place to live. I doubt Ali and Roberto go the distance, but hell, who does? They're a cute couple and I hope they have fun while they can.

  3. I watch the show because of Reality Steve, plus it's a great show to make fun of. However, last night's episode was actually touching and appeared more "real" than what I've seen on that show for a long time. I really haven't witnessed that since Trista & Ryan, and those two are together to this day so maybe Ali & Roberto do have a chance.

However, I will say that Ali has some growing up to do or this thing will not last past a couple of months. She is too self absorbed & once Roberto is living with her that will be much more obvious than it has been. I also hear that they may both sign on to do DWTS. If they do that, they are DONE. If they immediately go into a competitive environment where you know Roberto will do much better, she will pout, fuss & make his life miserable. She will not be the supportive, proud, soon-to-be wife in this scenario UNLESS she makes some big changes ASAP.

  4. Oh Lord no, not DWTS! Roberto works insurance and Ali does whatever it is she does...

Please go now kids and be happy and stop trying to extend your 15 minutes...

  5. Can they really not choose someone at the end? Has that ever happened?

  6. she's on a show about herself, how is she supposed to be not self absorbed?

Self absorbed would have left Chris hanging and made a fool of him at the last show. She already knew it wasd Roberts and did the right thing.

I didn't watch all season but i actually did like her and Roberta together. I think it will last...and honestly, Enty, it's been the men who have trouble going back to normalcy. jake, Bob, Jason, Andrew...all had issues after. Jen,Meredith, Jill and Trista are all doing ok out of the limelight.

  8. Sunnyside, yep, there was a bachelor who did the "I choose me" speech, and the producers were pissed and will never let that happen again.

  9. I think Ali is well on her way to fame addiciton and Roberto hmmm not so much.

I still think Alie & Jake will reconnect for some new fame whoring shenanigans in the future.

  10. I don't watch the show.. but do remember the "I pick Me" thing LOL

I saw them on Kimmel last night and thought they made a cute couple. Other than that.. I am clueless.

  11. I was also shocked because I expected the Reality Steve predicted ending. I'm secretly kind of glad he was wrong b/c dude was getting a huge ego from all the blog attention. Obnoxious.

I thought Ali seemed to spark with Roberto from the very beginning & they are a cute couple. I liked the ending too (for once!) & I thought the fact that they'd already gotten an apartment together was a good sign....

I hope they fade away from obscurity but live happily ever after.

  12. *Pardon - Fade away INTO not FROM.

  13. Totally irrelevant to my life. I know people like reality shows and that's their right, but honestly, I wouldn't know her if I walked right into her.

  14. I'm kinda shocked so many of us agree Ali and Roberto might actually make it. If you watched from the beginning you'd believe it even more.

Normally I watch the show to make fun of it with my friends and snark along with Reality Steve, but there's something different about those two. Roberto is the best man they've ever had on the show, hands down (and I don't mean his looks, but visually he's not bad either.)

She kept a journal to show her guy at the end so he'd know everything she felt about him along the way and what she did or said because the producers asked her to, to direct attention elsewhere.
