Lily Allen Would Rather Eat Crap Than Sit Next To Simon Cowell
Apparently Lily Allen watches X Factor in the UK. The show that is coming to the US this year has been in the news a lot this weekend. On Saturday night after the show ended, Lily turned to her Twitter and said, "X Factor FAIL. Too set up/scripted in my humble opinion... it's s**t. FACT! It's everything that I detest about modern western culture. Cowell is the only one who really benefits. I don't know how Simon Cowell has managed to get away with essentially copywriting the talent contest. It's beyond me, really."
"I've better things to do with my time than feed the nation with the notion that doing cover versions will sort your life out. I'd rather actually eat my own crap than sit next to any of those goons. Except Cheryl, obvs."
Wow, say how you really feel. The thing is she is right in a sense. All this show and its numerous other copycats have done is take that high school talent contest and turned it into television. Plus, Simon is the one who benefits. He owns the show and makes millions of dollars for televising a talent contest.
The other big controversy that has come to light is that X Factor executives have admitted they alter the voices of contestants. Yep. They use an Auto-Tune and admit they try and make good voices better while using it to make bad singers sound worse. It sounds to me then like they can manipulate the results. If you want some controversy than make one of the contestants have a bad week by adjusting the Auto-Tune. Of course they would probably just say they use Auto-Tune to make the program better.
