Joe Simpson Ruined American Idol For Jessica Simpson

Jessica Simpson had the American Idol job in the bag. It was hers. She was going to be the judge instead of Jennifer Lopez. She would have had a chance to revitalize her singing career and would have been dead center in front of millions of people each week for five months a year except for one thing. Her dad.

Yes, Jessica you can blame your dad for not getting the American Idol judge slot. When the producers of Idol started to negotiate the deal with Joe Simpson he made so many ridiculous demands and put so many barriers up that the producers said f**k it and moved on to Jennifer Lopez who knew in an instant to say, "Yes. Oh thank you for giving me another chance at being relevant. Thank you, thank you." Joe Simpson is an idiot. He had the chance to actually do something good for his daughter and client and blew it. If he was just a manager and not her dad he should be fired for what he did. You blew a chance for your client to make millions upon millions of dollars and be on the number one rated show on television but blew it.

  1. Long before this, Joe Simpson has done a godawful job of managing Jessica's career. She's a singer! A crappy comedy star! Oh, wait, a country singer! Now, a TV host! We have no idea how to define her beyond being a celebrity.

And to let something like this go, which should have been the ultimate highlight of her career and a huge managerial coup for him? DUMB, DUMB, DUMB.

Time for Jessica to pull an Usher/Leanne Rimes and fire her dad.

Oh, and he's creepy as f*ck to boot. But you all know that.

  2. She should have cut the cord on this relationship a long time ago. Her father did fairly well for her early in her career but she is NOT a hot commodity anymore. Making ridiculous demands for a washed up singer who hasn't done anything of significance in years and is only relevant because she gets her pic snapped by the papparazi who I am sure Papa Joe calls.

  3. Does anyone really want to listen to Jessica Simpson's opinions on ANYTHING week after week? She would have been more painful than the contestants.

AI is dead anyways. The show has always been about Simon and the contestants. I can't wait for X Factor.

  4. I agree Adventurous Kate. Joe should be fired.

  5. I've never been on the AI bandwagon, but it probably would have been good for JS. Honestly, I don't want the musical opinions of Jessica Simpson or J. Lo. But for you to make MORE demands than Jennifer Lopez, says something. Isn't she known to be a crazy demanding prima donna?

I agree the show is DOA without Simon.

  6. That's precisely why people shouldn't have their parents involved in their management.

  7. I think JLo has been humbled by the lack of attention and the criticism of her SNL performance. Of course this will all change once she's back in the limelight.

Jessica is a wonderful singer. It's a shame her father is ruining any chances she could have.

  8. What was he thinking? Run Jessica run.

  9. Sadly, Jessica is worth over 50 million just from her retail sales. I don't think this was about money. I think this was about Jessica being the star of the panel. And didn't want what happend to Ellen and play second fiddle to whoever the new Simon is going to be.

Even Beyonce fired her own dad. Jessica get a clue for once.

  11. Well some people are better at judging than they are at performing. Who knows if Jessica or Jennifer would be the best choice for a judge on A.I. Anyway I wonder if Jessica is afraid to try and fire her dad?

Source? Or did you just make this up?

Wonder what Her Idiot father demanded for his baby.

  14. It would have been a good gig for Jessica IF AI was still in its prime. I think it's a mistake tying oneself to this sinking ship, honestly. I give AI only one more season before it gets the boot. Who's going to want to watch J. Lo's diva antics?

  15. Don't be an asshole, Daria.

Perhaps her dad spared her from showing us all exactly how stupid she really is? Regardless, he's a disgusting moron.

  16. i'd say she's the idiot for letting her dad double as her manager. she's a grown woman. she should know better.

i despise her and even though i don't care about AI, i think it would dumb for her to be a judge. she cannot sing, for one thing. i wouldn't listen to anything she had to say about singing.
jlo has more cred with me than this talentless bimbo.

  17. "jlo has more cred with me than this talentless bimbo."

LOLOLOL! ya,ok....let's see Jlo sing LIVE on AI and then decide.

  18. TIMEBOB - What happened to Ellen?

  19. Well at least we still have her amazingly talented and totally relevant little sis Ashlee.

  20. Jessica Simpson - I hope you are reading this. It's time to give Daddy the boot. He is career poison.

  21. It takes a long time for people to stand up to their loved ones especially if they are a "close knit" family. Even if keeping her father as manager is career suicide, that doesn't mean she'll immediately get rid of him.

  22. Can you ever remember a network completely blowing a cash cow more than Fox with AI? The new judges thrown to the internet for comment have been ridiculous.

I want the show to go away. Maybe REAL music will make a comeback. Music we will be listening to for more than a month.

Jessica Simpson deciding what we will listen to? Jennifer Lopez? Steven Tyler? What qualifies them, beyond their niche in music?

At least Simon had a passion for finding new talent and excluding those (honestly) who had little chance. Why not replace him with a legitimate talent scout?

  23. I like that idea Jim B.!

  24. Jim B, because maybe the next "Simon" will not draw high ratings. I'm betting the producers are just trying to book judges who already have a following. AI no longer cares about talent from the judges or the contestants.

  25. All of what you said, Adventurous Kate. I don't intend to watch AI without Simon regardless, but I would have much preferred Jessica to JHo.

  26. I would have preferred Jessica to JLo too. At least Jessica can be funny.

  27. Nigel Lythgoe, an original AI producer, and creator/Exec. Producer of So You Think You Can Dance has taken back over production of AI. This is why the major judge shakeup has occurred. He is all about tinkering with the format, as fellow fans of SYTYCD will attest. He is trying to revive the dying AI franchise any way he can.

  28. Dear Joe Simpson,

THANK YOU!!!! Please tell me how I can get this fruit basket to you. My way of saying *thanks* for making me not have to watch Jessica speak about anything.
