How Do I Get This Job?

So, did you read about the CEO of Hewlett Packard having to resign this weekend? He did so because a contractor of the company filed a sexual harassment claim against the CEO and he was forced to resign. The couple never had sex, and it is unclear what exactly he did.

As all of you should know by now I really hate people who take advantage of other people and sexual harassers can be some of the worst people in the world. They can be horrible predators taking advantage of people who need a job or the paycheck.

In this case, I understand why the CEO resigned. He did so not only because of the claim but because he also falsified some expense records and possibly paid the woman for a job she may or may not have been supposed to be paid. Don't feel too sorry for him though because he is going to walk away with about $50M.

When I first read the story on Friday, I just thought it was typical sex harassment and that they should fire the guy and if he did something sexually improper, give him some kicks to the balls. As the weekend progressed though I started to think this might be a little bit different. First of all she is represented by Gloria Allred. Second of all she settled her claim with the CEO in about five minutes. Third she used to do soft porn for many years. In fact, one of her movies, Intimate Obsession is a Cinemax classic and has the longest sex scene ever. Just saying.

Her job basically sounds like an advanced version of what Rachel Uchitel used to do. The woman, Jodie Fisher, was paid $5,000 an event to show up and greet people and introduce people around. Really? How can I get in on that? So, basically you have a former soft core porn actress who gets paid to be a greeter.

I was also willing to let all of that slide and still on her side. A past is a past and it should not matter. Then though she started talking to the press and she says she was saddened and surprised that the guy lost his job. Umm, what did she expect? If she was surprised and saddened that he lost his job then just how serious was it? If some man says f**k me or you are fired I think you would be pretty happy if the a-hole lost his job. When you are surprised and saddened he lost his job, what exactly was the sex harassment claim? Did he say he saw one of her movies?

A couple of years ago Jodie, after like a ten year break, returned to acting and was on Age Of Love. Who wants to bet she tries to set up another reality show for herself? I think she thought she would make the claim, get paid a little, get some publicity and that the CEO would keep his job.

  1. How on earth can he still walk away with all that cash..isn't there some kind of a morals clause where you would forfeit the bulk of the cash...this simply isn't right...

  2. I'm with Enty on this one, I know how serious sexual harassment cases can be, but this whole situation is very suspect. I can't stand Gloria Allred, I wish she would stop practicing law, or at least spend the rest of her career doing pro-bono work and helping less fortunate people.

  3. I don't know about sexual harassment but as a small investor in the stock market, the way CEO's get paid really chaps my bottom. I can't believe they're worth it, and their rewards often have little to do with their competence. Let the jerk go collect unemployment like the thousands he probably laid off.

  5. I agree with this post. But I would have loved to have seen it actually written by Enty.

  6. I suspect that she thought it would be a quick payday and didn't really expect him to lose his job.

  7. According to the business press, he was actually a very good CEO who helped turn around a big company with major problems.

So the 310,000 employees of Hewlett-Packard - plus their dependents, plus all the people who have HP stock in their pension funds, plus all the communities that depend on the taxes HP pays - can just eat it, because this washed-up actress wanted a reality show.

I'm sure she'll get one, too. Maybe we could arrange a reality-show grudge match with Michele Talahari.

  8. "Greeter"? If only she was some 15 years younger, she'd be right up George Clooney's villa.

  10. Pul-lease! He was a good CEO?!?!!? Spending company money on hookers and whores and who knows what else. Are you kidding me? These guys are what is dragging this whole country down. Aren't there any honest people left that do an honest days work for an honest days pay? How long can this country survive sending these losers away with a $50m payday?

  11. Lots of companies hire booth babes for trade shows and user group meetings. However, they don't get anything like $5,000 a day. That's very suspicious.

  13. This story is a bit confusing b/c all the pieces don't fit together. First I heard, that nothing happened b/c the company conducted an internal investigation and found nothing. Second, something did happen and the CEO settled. Then word got out about the harassment suit being filed against the CEO and the dude quit. Question: If you settle, isn't that pretty much the end of it? Unless, the lawyers forgot to mention that any information about the suit cannot be mentioned in public or to the public (or whatever terms lawyers use).

  15. my only issue with this story is the implication that if someone has done porn or worked in the sex industry, they have no credibility against sexual harassment. that's really irritating to me on a million levels.

  16. No, he wasn't that good of a CEO. I don't count someone who cuts his employees pay and benefits, but makes $30 mil+ per year a good CEO. Then that isn't enough, but he uses company funds to pay his mistress and fly her all over the world. He has screwed over so many of his employees or former employees over the years, he's finally getting what he deserves. He broke company policy. Since he is the one who makes the policies, he should know what they are and what he was doing was wrong. If any other regular employee had done what he did, they would be fired and they wouldn't get a multi million dollar parting bonus.

  17. If you know an HR manager or a person who know about the resumes, please share the information. I would really appreciate that! I need to found someone who can read my resume and who would be so kind as tosay to me whether it would be ok. If you know such a person, please tell me about him. I really don’t sure if I can found another way. It seems like all those resumesplanet don’t have this opportunity.
