Mark your calendars for September 28th because for one night only The Buggles will be reuniting. The band broke up in 1980. 30 years apart and they were not even together when their song became the first video ever played on MTV. They need to make a new song called Reality Killed The Video Star.
The Buggles are reuniting for a charity gig in London which will actually be the first time they have ever played a full show. Even when they were together I think they only played a few songs during each show. The founder of the band Geoff Downes said, "Trevor Horn and ZTT Records is proud to announce the return of The Buggles, live on stage for their first ever full live gig... a mere 30 years after their international #1 hit single Video Killed The Radio Star kick-started a generation of electronic pop... No tour is planned, no DVD or live CD will be released... The Buggles - along with some very special guest artists - will perform live on stage for one night only on 28 September 2010 at at a special and intimate West London venue."
Should be a great show. Two videos of the song below.
1st time to do an actual full show? oh gee, no pressure...i must admit, tho...when i first read this, i confused them w/ 'the wiggles'...*obviously need coffee*
ReplyDeletei'd rather see the Mini Pops reunite and do it like they did in 80's.
ReplyDeleteGeoff Downes and Trevor Horn! Amazing!
ReplyDeleteWhen I first read this, I thought it said Bangles. Imagine my surprise when I played the video.

ReplyDeleteYeah, I didn't realize who they were either until I saw the song. Did they have any other hits...???
ReplyDeleteI swear I was JUST talking to someone the other day about reality TV & said the same thing, Enty!
I thought he meant the Rutles, the group Eric Idle put together to paradoy the Beatles.
ReplyDeleteGosh, MTV is nearly 30! I, was just shy of my 11th birthday when MTV aired. Wow.
