Three Days Of The Idol. Oh, And Some Scientology

I can't believe I am actually going to talk about American Idol for three consecutive days. The only way I would have ever thought that possible is if Randy, Paula, Simon and Ryan all took turns with each other and it was caught on tape.

So, when the week began you had Randy, Kara and Ellen. Now, on Friday, Ellen is gone which I did not see coming at all and Kara was fired, so at least I got one right. So, that would leave Randy as the sole judge. That would be fine but you could guess what he was going to say. First singer would be dawg and awright. The second singer would be pitchy. Third singer would be dawg and awright and so on. Every once in awhile he would stand up or say he just wasn't feelin' it, but it would definitely grow repetitive.

I think I would prefer one judge to what it looks like it is shaping up to be. It looks like for sure that one of the judges is Jennifer Lopez. It makes sense because she has no career, and like Paula can't sing worth a crap so she might as well judge people on their singing. The only difference is that Paula was sweet and friendly and a dingbat and Jennifer is cold and calculating and everyone will be given a complimentary stress test backstage while Marc Anthony haunts the hallways smoking cigarettes and looking for his next "singing partner."

One report says that Steven Tyler will be joining the judging panel. That would be a good fit, but I am telling you Nigel Lythgoe has a huge ego and loves seeing himself on television. Until I see Steven on that panel, I think Nigel will be the third.

  1. Too bad this show is such a cash cow for Fox. Honestly put a fork in it it's over without Simon.

And did Enty just throw a hint on a Blind Item about Marc?

  3. I think this is a travesty, especially since JLo is one of the leading guesses for the MV blind!

  4. Cold, calculating, can't sing --

Sounds pretty MVish to me. ;-)

  5. I wouldn't be surprised if this had been set up by COS to recruit future celebrities.

  6. I couldn't thi k of a worse pick. As much as I dislike Jessica Simpson, I would rather see her on the show.

  7. I think Ellen was fired. I think they agreed to let her say she quit so her talk show ratings wouldn't suffer.

  8. i could give a shit about a show i no longer watch...and i don't think anyone cares anymore...that's why they are scrambling to come up with "fresh ideas!"

  9. JLo at least has a personality. She can be talkative and funny. And goofy. And she is obviously MV. Until ENTY gives us written denial, she is MV. We all know she is MV. She has to be MV. My whole life depends on her being MV. The future of the universe depends on her being MV. Does anyone else think she is MV?

  10. I gave up on American Idol, figured I'd never watch it after the first auditions. But if Steven Tyler is on the show, I will give it another season, because I adore him.

  11. They should replace all the judges with those three guys from Spinal Tap. Now I'd watch that.

  12. I can't believe Steven Tyler would do this show. Are they sure they haven't been interviewing Janice Dickenson? She'll do anything.

Once x-factor starts I can't imagine AI will last very long.

  13. I love the show and I am saddened by how its creators are ruining it. Stunt casting is not creative and it doesn't work. Might as well hire the Fonz to waterski over a shark for the first episode because hiring big name people who won't offer a thing to the show is just as bad as that iconic Happy Days scene.

  14. Wow, there's a lot of you putting JLo up for MV, I don't know... maybe I guess.

I think she would make a great personality on the show. Steven Tyler would be a pisser, I'd love to see that!

But I agree with Enty and I think it will be Nigel.

  15. There are definitely hints in ENTY's description. Could she be the b**ch we affectionately call MV? And the comment about her husband does seem like a reference to another blind.

I think this is a bad mistake. I don't like her. I find her to be phoney .. and I'm from the Bronx.

  16. omg am I the only one on the planet that LIKED Kara? I thought she a) knew what she was talking about. b) had the creds to back her up c) was the most intelligent one of the bunch (sorry Ellen, it was close!) I'm sorry to see her go. I'm really curious as to what people did not like about her?

  17. LOL, Aly! I also think she is MV.

  18. I liked her, Chris. I will admit that I didn't straightaway though, because I'm like most Americans and I don't like change. But she was the only useful judge last season. She did hang all over Simon but that aside, I thought she was good.

  19. MV judging singers. I love irony.

  20. I refuse to have anything to do with AI if JLo joins as a judge. I'm not a regular watcher to begin with, but this will seal the deal. Not only was she completely manufactured "artist", she's an incredibly miserable and selfish person.

  21. i'm a huge fan of ellen, but i think the show jumped the shark the moment they had non-music celebrities, judging singers. i agree that jlo is absolutely MV, without a doubt, but she is at least affiliated with the music industry. idk. the show's done. she'll make it through 2 shows, everyone will see she's a no-talent assclown and the show will be cancelled, i mean "retire".

  22. JHo, I mean JLo, actually did a pretty good job as guest judge last season. And she has the credentials to do it.

That said, I still can't stand this choice. She's a nasty, no-talent b-i-t-c-h whose ego will suck all the oxygen from the room. I have zero desire to see her fail at another career (because seriously...she made awful movies after Selena, she made awful albums that only did well b/c of autotune and possibly a MV helper).

    Idol, you're dead to me.

  23. JHo...still yet another reason not to watch.

  24. Actually, I think Bret Michaels is the answer for the show. People watch him no matter what he puts up. I wish he'd do a Rock of Love 4.

  25. What is the MV moniker for>?

  26. Jamie's Girl,
    MV= Milli Vanilli (scandal)

    ReplyDelete
  27. @Jamie's Girl - lol - no, it's actually a reference to one of Enty's longer and most frustrating Blind Items about someone who was HUGE a few years back who actually didn't sing a word on her albums. The most popular guesses are Britney Spears and JLo.

    ReplyDelete
  28. @Jamie's Girl - I agree, I'd *love* to see Bret Michaels. There's something really genuineand charming about him.

And MV is both the blind and stands for Milli Vanilli. That's why he called the blind subject MV.

  30. looserdude, I'm with you. I've never watched one episode of this show, but I'd watch it with the Spinal Tap guys.

  31. JLO has always been my #1 choice for MV and like Aly I refuse to believe it isn't her.

    @Aly you are too funny.

I do think she is an interesting choice for AI because now she might have to share the spotlight. We'll have to see how she handles it.

  32. Paula Abdrool was no worse than JBlow. Paula could not sing a lick either. None of this matters, because without Simon, AI is doomed.

  33. @ Jamie's Girl--I used to have no respect for Brett Michaels. This past May my 14 year old son came down with Type 1 Diabetes--same as Brett Michaels. Now I look at Brett totally different. I would love to see him on the show. After what this man has gone through he deserves it way more than MV, I mean JLO.
