Pigeons Are Not Fans Of Kings Of Leon Music

I will have to go through the Kings Of Leon music catalog to see where they are saying bad things about pigeons. On Friday night, during a concert in St. Louis, the pigeons at Verizon Amphitheatre took out their revenge the best way they know how. Crapping all over the band.

Unlike the two opening acts, Kings Of Leon decided to bail on their fans and pack in. They could not handle the pigeon excrement. They used the excuse that it was annoying and toxic. True and true. However, they had been warned of the pigeon problem well in advance of their show, had watched the opening acts get pummeled, but did nothing about it. Raincoats? Umbrella stands? There are about 20 things I can think of that would have allowed them to continue the show but which they chose not to do. Instead they lasted just three songs and disappointed thousands and thousands of fans. I'm sure Live Nation is also not thrilled either at having to refund money.

The fans were not getting hit at all. The poop is apparently strictly for the performers.

  5. it sucked they left after only 3 songs..but really? how hard is it to put up that wire that stops birds from landing wherever they are above the stage?

sorry, i would not stand under birds knowingly shitting on me for any job, why should they?

dude got it in his mouth!

  6. what losers! plenty of artists go thru that venue and suck it up. i mean, granted, it's not like they could sell out sprint center in neighboring kansas city, mo, so i get it their venue choices are limited...but ugh...team pigeon on this one.

  7. My friend was at the show and said he's full of shit (har har). She said one of the guys in one of the opening bands got hit and they made a joke about it, he moved a few steps away and went on. They weren't covered in anything. She said when the guy in KOL got hit, it was near his face, not in his mouth and they all just left the stage without any explanation. That's not very rock n roll.

I agree, Pookie. They could have taken a 20 minute break. They're men for crying out loud. Score one for the losers.

  9. What is it with that particular stage that makes it so welcoming to pigeons? I just don't understand, if it's a well known problem why can't the stage be covered or something?

If I had been warned I probably would have brought a raincoat and an umbrella on stage with me. Make an event of it, you know? *L*

all pigeon-shit aside....I just don't like this band. I realize its hip to like them, and I've tried, but I just DON'T. I think they sound awful.

  12. I do like them BUT I had to laugh at this story. I wouldn't want to be pooped on either but seems like they could have found some kind of solution to continue playing.

  13. Concerts have been going on there all year. I guess the pigeons just don't like KOL because no body else has had a problem. Toby Keith was there last week, and Sugarland played last night. The Warped Tour was here 2 weeks ago. Concerts have been going on since April and this is the first time someone walked off stage.

  14. Jesus, how many pigeons must roost there for it to be a hazard? The venue needs to suck up the loss and get rid of their vermin problem.

And from what I've heard, KOL like to play tough and cool but now that they made it big all they are good for is fucking supermodels. And dodging pigeon shit.

  15. i've been told that good ol' wd-40 keeps pigeons away. unfortunately i can't get to the top of the column on my front patio to spray up there. they hate the smell.
venue probably has plastic owls hanging around, but that's an old wive's tale. folks hang them on their masts, they don't seem to scare away anything. except maybe other owls.
maybe it wasn't on my list, pretty sure i'd remember pigeon shit complaints in any of the venues i used to deal with.... but then parrot heads are known for their hats!

  17. A poster on another site who works at the venue said that there were only 8000 people in a venue that can seat 20000. It was extremely hot that night.

KOL were required by contract to play 3 songs, and they did and then left.

As other posters have said, bunches of acts play that venue every summer, and this is the first time I've ever heard of this happening.

  18. Charles: Obviously, it was a medical issue, then. Poorticketsaleitis. And it was sweltering that night, a still, humid torpor that living near the Mississippi River allows you enjoy in the summer.

Tom Petty was here the week before, and his basist almost assed out from the heat.

They revived him, 20 minutes later he was back out on stage. They gave him a chair to sit in and he kicked it away and finished the show.. Those Pepaws are like in their 60's, no?
    KOL=girly men.
