What happens when Salma Hayek is being interviewed by Extra and a snake slithers on the set? Watch. She gets a little freaked out to say the least and spends some quality time in Maya Rudolph's lap.
Her classy lady leg pose was shot to hell when the snake appeared. Maya was calm, cool, collected even whenSalma was climbing into her lap. To be fair, if I were Salma I would have jump into that body of water behind them. LOL
In other clips of this, they talk to the ladies and they descibe the snake as having the body of a large python and what looked to them like the head of a cobra flared out ready to pounce. I can't say I balme her for being scared. She sounded terrorfied. My mother has a phobia about snakes (I forget the name for it)and she'd have done much worse than Salma. She'd have tried to find a gun and would have started frieing into the crowd to try to hit it.
my 6 foot-plus uber macho acting neighbor used to act pretty much the same way when he'd spot a gopher snake in his yard (heh, or a sun spider!)! more than once he'd yell to to kids to " GO GET BUNNY!!" i'd go catch the poor thing while he'd hide, and go let it loose on the hill. was one of the funniest things i ever saw... wanted to be a herpetologist when i was a kid. :)
I don't think they were trying to get her out of there first because she's the star but because she obviously has a phobia with snakes. If it weren't for the other actresses holding her she would have jumped in the water.
@Mooshki,QoB, et. al: One reason Salma Hayek agreed to take the role in FDTD was that Robert Rodriguez told her Madonna was slated for it, otherwise; she needed a couple of months of therapy just to be able to shoot the scenes with the snake, terrified the whole time.
@Mooshki: She was also on Xanax (I think, some sort of tranquilizer) during that snake scene. I also read she had to go though hypnosis just to get through it.
I don't blame her. I have some pretty weird (and inexplicable) phobias myself.
lol @ Salma
ReplyDeletePoor Maya. Instead of worrying about getting bit by a snake she had to worry about getting stabbed by shoes.
ReplyDeleteWell there go a million guys' 'From Dusk Till Dawn' fantasies.

ReplyDeletelmao!!!
ReplyDeleteSalma Hayek afraid of snakes??
ReplyDeleteThe same Salma Hayek who danced semi-naked with a fully grown python wrapped around her??!
Ha, this is so funny.
ReplyDeleteWhat's with all the youtube vids lately? Ent never used to post this many. He would put up maybe one a week.
So what kind of snake was it?

ReplyDeleteI would've reacted the same but I love the hierarchy of saving the actresses. GET SALMA OUT FIRST, SHE'S THE STAR!!!!
ReplyDeleteSo that is what insecure neurotic actress are like when they drop their masks.
ReplyDeleteSorry but I thought Salma completly over reacted.
I can't stop watching this, it's the best thing to happen to the internet since that kid that was high after going to the dentist.
ReplyDeleteBut, realistically, I'd react the same way. "DOOOOO SOMETHIIIING!!!!"
OMG I thought I was the only who noticed the hierchy of celebrity, get Salma taken care of first she is the bigger star, ROFL lol
ReplyDeleteDead @ Maya Rudolph's "hellooooo" at the beginning of the video. That's that.
ReplyDeleteIs that Maria Bello in the front/right?
ReplyDeleteLOL, she was adorable. Obviously scared as well, but also laughing at the ridiculousness.
I think I acted the same way the other night when there was a huge scorpion in my kitchen, so I can't hate on Salma.
ReplyDeleteCan't believe some people are hating on her because she got scared. This is new. I guess you have to be a lady even when scared.
ReplyDeletei don't if it was "get selma out first" any more than "selma is freaking the f-ck out,get her out of here"
ReplyDeleteI think they got her out of there first because she was three breaths away from a heart attack
ReplyDeleteI don't see anyone hating on anyone?!

I would have freaked out too. But damn she was climbing all over Maya in those high heels! LOL!
ReplyDeleteOphidiophobia = fear of snakes
ReplyDeleteVideo has been removed; damn.

ReplyDelete"@omebody do something!" lol
ReplyDeleteI would have thought it was a publicity stunt but Salma Hayek was out of the shot at one point and had had her back to the camera at another.
Didn't that snake know who her husband is? lol

ReplyDeleteThanks for the info, Robert. It sure didn't show!
