Neil Patrick Harris Confirmed For Harold & Kumar 3
I have been asking myself what kind of Christmas movie would go well with Christmas Vacation, It's A Wonderful Life & Christmas Story. Oh, and Bad Santa. Now I don't have to wonder anymore. Neil Patrick Harris has signed on to play Neil Patrick Harris in the third installment of the gloriousness that is Harold & Kumar. A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas. When Neil Patrick Harris died in the second installment I knew it didn't matter. Who cares? This is Harold & Kumar. Neil could get killed and come back to life every five minutes and it would still be believable because the movies are more like cartoons than any kind of possible real life events. Are they dumb? Absolutely. But the thing is they don't pretend to not be dumb. They do not pretend to be something they are not. They are not pretentious.
I also think that Neil Patrick Harris owes the revitalization of his career to Harold & Kumar. The only reason he got his job on How I Met Your Mother was because of his performance in Harold & Kumar. He knows it and that is why he will be back for #3. Unlike some actors in Hollywood he has loyalty. Another reason to love him.
Love NPH! And I agree, he is very classy.
ReplyDeleteHe was so funny in Harold & Kumar.
ReplyDeleteI love Neil Patrick Harris AKA Doogie Howser M.D. ;) tho I hated Harold & Kumar's Escape from Guantanamo Bay, I look forward to the third installment!!! I like a little variety in my holiday movies & I can't name a 420 infused Holiday Movie...
ReplyDeleteThis has to be the best news of the day.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if he'll ride in on his magical unicorn and be their spiritual advisor.
ReplyDeleteI didn't like the 2nd movie that much, but if NPH is back, I'm back! And if the script is good enough for Kal Penn to leave the White House, then I am excited.
ReplyDeleteNeil definitely owes his career revival to H&K, but now that we know he's the opposite of a womanizing cokehead car theif it's funny in an entirely different way.
I just realized that NPH is a great example of a child actor who DIDN'T implode.
ReplyDeleteHe really killed Doogie forever with H&K. It was very smart of him.
Best news of the YEAR!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, and Enty, you need to start staying through the credits - NPH popped back up at the end.
ReplyDeleteAnother movie I will have to add to my Netflix subscription, Enty, you are killing me here, lol
ReplyDeleteHey, Enty - they can always go for the "it was only a dream" storyline OR he can play his own evil twin.
ReplyDeleteIf you haven't seen "How I Met Your Mother" or The Big Bang Theory" on CBS, please watch. So much better than Two and a Half Men.
Mooshki, I've never watched it through the credits and didn't know that. LOL.
ReplyDeleteI thought the guy who plays Kumar is working for the Obama administration and isn't doing movies for a few years. Is he going back to acting now?
Totally TOTALLY agree that NPH's resurgence came after his first appearance in Harold & Kumar. I remember squealing with delight when I recognized him. Love these movies so, a Christmas one? SOLD.
ReplyDeleteNPH is my secret boyfriend.
ReplyDeleteI don't care if he's gay! I am madly in love with him and everything he does.
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletelovelovelove nph! didn't get to see the 2nd installment, but i'll def check out the third. nph is classy all the way, and gets a ton of points for not biting the hands that (helped) feed him
ReplyDelete@mmgdess...you are so right about HIMYM and BBT. Soooooooooooo much better than 2 1/2 men.
ReplyDeleteI put NPH in a class with Sandra Bullock and Betty White of celebrities who are funny and talented but don't take themselves too seriously. They make fun of themselves and are all the more popular for it.
ReplyDeleteI'll definitely see this!
Gretchen, I was just about to write a comparison of NPH & Betty White. You cannot help but love them. They really need to do something together.
ReplyDeleteBrandi, he's taking a leave from his government job to film it. Thank god. :)
ReplyDeletethey should make it that NPH/dougie saved himself from the gunshots..lol.
ReplyDeleteI love that NPH was a SERIAL KILLER in Harold and Kumar! That is so damn much fun! What respect he gives to comedy. Love him and his sexy bad boy ways!
ReplyDeleteHere's the post-credit scene for those of you who missed it:

There are a lot of hot gay guys women fantasize about, because they are the ideal fake boyfriends for some of us. And, you know, we have as much chance at the straight HW hunks as we do with the gay ones. ZILCH.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, I just adore NPH. He's so freakin' suave and put together. And he was great in the 'Harold and Kumar' movies (guilty pleasure).
And as for gay men, I also adore Jakey. And Austin - I'm hoping the two come out as a couple soon. They would truly be the hottest couple in Hollywood. In the meantime, I can fantasize about being the meat in an Austin/Jake sandwich. I'm so kidding. Sort of... Yeah, I know. Vulgar.
I saw Austin and his beard on some show last night talking about the BP spill and damn he is hot! I'll stop babbling now. I blame the menopause. (And the booze.)
I remember her name now. Sophia Merkin...I mean Bush. The beard - though I don't want to disparage her because she is a cool gal and does a lot for charity. And the gays. Besides being a beard for Austin, that is.
ReplyDeleteWell, I've pissed of RF by calling everyone who picks on the younger HW set 'hags', but I actually wasn't singling her out or anyone else out, for that matter. Dear god, I'm making as much sense as Courtney Love today. It has to be the booze. And the menopause. Topped with a dollop of 'crazy'. :(
So basically, RF, if you happen to see this, well, I'm sorry. And I'm also sorry if I offended you or anyone else with my 'hags' comment some weeks ago. I just have an issue with older women picking on younger girls, no matter how messed up they might be. I see it as 'eating our young'. If you take a closer look, you'll see that most of the young people are absolutely amazing, with only a few notable exceptions.
ReplyDeleteMiley is a cute enough tweener, and isn't harming anyone, and of course, I really like that Kristen Stewart gal - and the poor thing gets so much hate. Yes, she sucked in 'Twilight', but she truly is an amazing actress. She just tried to underplay the 'Bella' role in that particular installment.
I also admit that at this point, I really want to give Lindsay Lohan a slap, especially after her stupid 'late for the Bravo photo shoot excuse', so I'm one of the 'hags'.
I do love this blog more than all the other gossip blogs, including 'D-Listed', so I certainly don't want to alienate the commenters here. They are the best!
MadLyb, I have a similar fantasy but with Victor Garber and Bradley Cooper. (You just know they must've hooked up on 'Alias!')
ReplyDeleteThanks for the explanation, MadLyb, and no worries. I'd like to join you in a drink sometime :)
ReplyDeleteLOL@ MadLyb. Glad to know i'm not the only one that reads this while occasionally hitting the booze. :)
ReplyDeleteI totally agree Enty! Good for him for NOT being a pretentious ass like most actors/actresses. I don't think a lot of people would be willing to do a 3rd installment but that is why NPH is awesome.
@MadLyb, et. al.: I had to chime in and agree: this website blows all others away. Enty is one-of-a-kind, for sure, but the commenters are what makes the site what it is--the best. Group hug! (Add booze, it becomes a Grope Hug!)
