There is a story making the rounds today that Johnny Depp fended off a would be mugger and saved his friend outside a Los Angeles recording studio. The Sun is reporting that a man confronted one of Depp's friends with a broken bottle in his hand. The mugger asked for money and then Captain Jack showed up and the mugger said "I ain't stealing from Captain Jack." The guy then put down the bottle and Johnny gave the guy a few bucks and told him to straighten up his life.
Really? This all sounds like crap. I would love to have someone ask Johnny about this when he does press for The Tourist or some other project. The mugger was supposedly out of his mind, yet somehow he managed to recognize Captain Jack and suddenly didn't want any part of it. What do you think? True or not?

ReplyDeleteI say it's made up - since Johnny has been in Venice filming the Tourist with Angelina. I suppose he could have been in LA for the weekend, but was there anything going on in LA where he would have flown in only for a day or two?

ReplyDeleteJohnny's a pretty cool character, and he does give money to a lot of people. This could have happened months back, and the story leaked to give publicity for the album.
I'm thinking it's unlikely, as JD usually has security with him and they would have handled this.
I call bullshit, too. Blech! I don't really like him since the Roman Polanski thing. Sorry, I'm sure there will be JD defenders, but that really did ruin it for me.

First, isn't Johnny is Venice filming that movie? But since they didn't specify a date, maybe it was before they left... even though he lives in France. But would Johnny be walking around dressed as Captain Jack?! I would be saying something like "oh my god/gosh! it's Johnny Depp!", and not really mention Capt Jack... but that's just me.
