Trashing Your Kids Doesn't Work - Kate Gosselin's Book Bombs

Have you read Kate Gosselin's new book? Don't worry, I suffered through 20 minutes of it for you and I will say that you are not missing much. Well, unless that is of course you enjoy seeing a mother write nasty things about each of her kids in print. Her book is supposedly excerpts from her journal. She must have a poison pen because she manages to find something bad to say about each child and how they need to change it. And these are not like brush your teeth or you need to put the seat down. These were some mean things.

Apparently there are very few people who want to read her thoughts either because the book has bombed. It currently ranks at almost #1,000 on Amazon. Although her last book sold over half a million copies, this book will be lucky to sell 50,000 copies. To date it has sold barely over 10,000 and most of those were advance orders from churches.

Bye bye Kate. Don't let the fame door hit you on the ass.

  3. "Bye bye Kate. Don't let the fame door hit you on the ass."

Wishful thinking. Look how long that POS Paris has managed to stay in the spotlight.

  4. She trashed her BABIES?! For real??? WTF?

  5. And I struggle to have kids at all. She's evil.

  6. I would NEVER read this shit. Ugh. It's offensive to people who are real writers. Who is this woman again? And why am I supposed to buy into her garbage?

  7. What makes her think anyone gives a crap what she has to say in the first place?

  8. What were some of the things she said about her kids?

  9. Instead of wasting money on her book someone needs to buy each of her children a copy of "Children of the Self-Absorbed" by Nina Brown. It gives coping skills for those with a narcissistic parent.

  10. I would never consider reading one of her books - I will, however, pay full price to read all the books her children will be writing in the future. I can hardly wait to read what those children have to say about both parents.

  11. I am in with the local mommy crowd here and no one is talking about Kate or her book.

  12. I have nothing nice to say about this woman. As a mom myself, it is grievous to see how these children are being raised.

  13. I have watched a few episodes of the J & K + 8 reality show, and one thing that shocked me was the opening, when you can hear Kate's voice introducing her children one by one:

Each child is characterised by two traits, and not necessarily positive ones!
One of the boys was even called "sneaky".

In the episodes that I watched, she also discussed what she thought what careers her kids would grow up to have.

One she was sure would be a zoologist, another she thought she would be a "mother" because she was caring, another one was bossy, etc...

This is a very irresponsible behaviour on thde part of the parents AND the producers of the show, who thought it a good idea to define young children in such a reductive and simplistic way because they wanted to create characters that would be easy to differentiate.

Nobody - child or adult - likes to be so stupidly assessed by someone else.

Moreover, when these "opinions" are voiced, they become a self-fulfilling prophecy: they influence both the way the children are perceived and treated by others, and they will often act in ways to live up to the traits that have been attributed to them.

This is idiotic and shameful behaviour, for a parent to so publicly summarise their children as being this or that, when they have not even had the opportunity to fully grow and develop their personalities, much less stand up to their mother and say: don't say that about me, because I am not like that.

  14. What exactly did she say about her kids? I can't believe she threw them under the bus because everything she does, she "does for her kids"

  15. why would she wanna trash her kids? not cool... -In 10 years I want to read a book written by one of those kids.

  16. Yes, to what shmooey said...and not just publicly labelling her kids, but in front of television cameras, robbing them of privacy. When these kids go out, everyone will know which one is the "bossy" one or the "sneaky" one.

  17. Oh god, I can't wait till these kids start writing autobiographies.

  18. You know the cranky one out of the 8 is gonna blow first and seeing as she's most like her mother, the garbage & over-sharing will spew!

Church folk pre-ordering her books must be dumber than a sack of nails.

  19. Enty can you paraphrase some of the stuff she said?

  20. What the point of writing a book if she was going to be unkind about those children? I saw her in an interview where she said she wrote the book because she wanted her children to know how much they were loved when they grew up. Epic fail.

  21. I can totally see her nipples thru that hideous top.

  22. http://gosselindivorce.blogspot.com/2010/04/exclusive-sneak-peak-at-kates-book-i.html

interesting post from a blogger that has the book and went to book signing. gives a detailed synopsis.

What a nasty woman Kate is. She berates her children so we will see how hard she has it.

  23. I think this qualifies as a form of child abuse. Sick and sad.

  24. @ Taylor, those excerpts are heart breaking. I can't imagine how hard it is on the twins. They're old enough to read this stuff or hear about it in school.

We look back and are horrified that the Dionne Quints were put on public display like zoo animals, but I don't see the big difference with kids on reality shows except that more people can view them.

  25. The worst I ever said about my oldest daughter--and she's a real pip--is she's a diva princess.

Tell me again why this woman even bothered with fertility treatments? Dumb bitch. PLEASE go away!

  26. Reading it more closely, she should have never had boys. I know someone like that. Her son--my nephew--is the only boy of three kids, and his icy cunticle twat of a mother said stuff to him that was very close to what Kate wrote in those letters to the boys.

And I ask again, why were these people allowed to become parents? Does God have a sick sense of humor?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Wait...Enty....the juicy gossip seems to be in the excerpts from the book...so where are they?

  28. she's making it just about impossible to defend nowadays and her woe is me shtick is exhausting!

if being a mother is so difficult, why'd you do it? spend a little less time keeping up appearances and it just might get a little easier for you!

  29. It warmed my heart to see her mouthing "I love You!" (presumably to the kids) at the beginning of each DWTS episode. What a good Mom! I heard that after arriving back home in PA, she dropped the kids off at home, hit the tanning salon, then got a manicure/pedicure. What a good Mom! All the while thinking about what she was going to be making for dinner that night, I'm sure.

  30. on the one hand, i am all for moms working outside the home if they want to, and they should not be made to feel horrible for it and they can still be the best moms!

on the other, writing that stuff to your children is just... horrible. i mean, its not like you can ever take its back - this is something she thought about and published in a book!

  31. @linnea ITA! but if this women thinks that she represents the average working mom, she is sorely mistaken. I also don't think that in order to be a good mom you have to be all daisies and cookies and only say good things about your kids--but not to their faces and not in writing. I mean, I bitch about my kids, but it is about things they do, or how they were acting etc...not THEM, not their character!!! I mean shit, if the kids got character flaws and they are only toddlers, I would examine myself! But she is way to self absorbed for that. I know I am not in the majority here, but this is a prime example of what happens when people play God.

  32. Never thought I'd say this..... but I miss her old dead rabid possum hair.

This shit looks more plastic Barbie hair than Paris' does!
