Today's Blind Items

I guess this comic actor is A list. Primarily movies now. When I say he is A list, he is by definition in the sense he is top billed in movies, but I never think of him as more than a B or C. He has always come across as a guy's guy, but when he was in Europe a few weeks ago doing publicity for an old project, he made everyone call him by his female name and stayed at his hotel for four nights as a woman.

  1. What? I can't wait to hear the thoughts on this one.

My first thought was Andy Dick, but he isn't in movies. I would think that it would have to be someone way out there though, because if they weren't word would have spread more quickly.

Chevy Chase popped into my mind for some reason.

  3. I'M TOTALLY LOST ON THIS ONE....

  4. @Krystal, I think you're right, Jim Carrey may have gotten very into his role for his new movie

  5. Does Will Ferral have anything out in the UK now?

Sounds like this is 1/2 a joke and 1/2 a real cross dresser.

  6. sounds like Jim Carrey to me

  7. jim carrey was first in my mind (not that that means anything)

  8. although chevy is in the random pics today.

  9. Jim Carrey wore in public Jenny McCarthy's one-piece swimsuit about a year ago and has had some rather kinky humor/gags/jokes all through the years (something about using a dildo on himself, for example, in Me Myself and Irene that seemed more improv and left in than scripted). And yeah he's also totally a guy's guy (Dumb and Dumber, for example, total gross-out Guy Film)

  10. Edie Murphy, Chevina Chase, Jamie Carrey? (I have no idea)

  13. Jack Black? No clue.

  14. Eddie Murphy was my first guess....

  15. what about paul bart mall cop guy....he was in the king of queens and now he is doing movies. kevin something.

  16. Tim Allen. Tool Time, anyone?

Totally "guy's guy" territory. Also, A list (can open and has opened movies on his own), but in 'star power' terms, really B list. I say it's him. Plus, he has a FREAKY past and even I don't think cross dressing on its own is that freaky, to be such a public person and do it in the way described, is a little odd.

  17. Well if it's not Carrie, then what about Ben Stiller?

    ReplyDelete
  18. I agree TinselSass. I consider Jim Carrey A list.

My first thought was Dane Cook, but I don't think he has ever been top billed in movies...

I need to think on this some more!

  19. mmm I'm liking the Adam Sandler guess. He was very popular with great movies, but then they just kind of went to crap!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Wasn't Steve Carell (sp?) just in Europe with Tina Fey promoting their date movie?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Vince Vaughan?

And who was the guy Enty kept posting pictures of in Europe on a press tour?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Martin Lawrence?

    ReplyDelete
  23. what about dane cook? He was a stand up, but i believe he does mostly movies now. Maybe i'm wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  24. No idea, but I'm guessing it's someone who's single, otherwise Enty would have mentioned "married". That would eliminate Black, Stiller and Ferrell, right?

    ReplyDelete
  25. I thought Sandler first, though the phrase "primarily movies" says to me there was more than one TV gig in his past (and Sandler's only real TV was SNL, no?).
Tim Allen is also an interesting guess...

    ReplyDelete
  26. E, I think Tim Allen is a great guess!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Princess Shyness had it way back I'm sure. Mike Myers I'm thinking...

    ReplyDelete
  28. Kellsey Grammer
    LA CAGE

  29. doesn't this have to be tyler perry from aka madea?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Mooshki, I cracked up thinking about hairy Robin Williams in a bra, lmao!

    ReplyDelete
  31. The first person that I thought of was Kevin James. He might be promoting Paul Blart: Mall Cop in Europe. He got his start in King of Queens, but he's just movies now. He did that one with Adam Sandler a few years ago, and wasn't he in Hitch, too? I think he probably is technically A list now, because of the huge (and inexplicable) success of Paul Blart, but I think of him as a B at the most, too. I bet he made one ugly woman, but I can see him doing it.

  32. Jon Cusack? His sister is in the random photos.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I agree with the Mike Myers guess.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Mike Meyers used to do the Linda Richman character in Coffee Talk on SNL ("made everyone call him by his female name...") and Robin Williams was Mrs. Doubtfire; I don't know about other cross-dressing performances, but of this bunch, Tim Allen would make the ugliest woman by far!

  35. this is just a joke, he wasn't being serious..he's a COMEDIAN!

    ReplyDelete
  36. i don't really think of jim carrey as a man's man.

    tim allen is good guess.

    ReplyDelete
  37. At first reading, I thought Adam Sandler.

I don't think of Robin Williams or Jim Carrey as a guy's guy. Sandler is totally one of the guys.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Love the Kevin James guess, as he does star in movies now (sign of apocalypse) and used to do TV.

    ReplyDelete
  39. In addition to SNL, Adam Sandler was the thug cousin who came in thru the basement window on MTV's Remote Control gameshow.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Could be Eddie Murphy - he likes the trannies

    ReplyDelete
  41. Jim Carrey.
Comic actor, started in film, moved to TV and made a name, then moved to pretty much exclusively movies.
Recent breakup with LTR McCarthy, when all figured they were in it for the long haul, no specific reason cited.
What's getting me is the reference to "publicity for an old project" - albeit he's not put out anything recently, he does have a new film coming out soon, in which he plays a gay man, co-starring Ewan McGregor as his love interest.
Easiest way to figure this one out would be to see who's in Europe doing publicity for an old project.

  42. What about Eddie Izzard, folks?

    ReplyDelete
  43. I'm on the Kevin James train. He recently hosted the Nickelodeon Kid's Choice Awards, and in one of the promos he was dressed up in drag, and I remember thinking that (even though they do a lot of madcap stuff in their promos) the drag stint seemed rather random and out of left field.

    ReplyDelete
  44. My first thought was Jim Carrey, then Dane Cook. I'm going with Carrey.

    ReplyDelete
  45. some really stupid guesses here. chevy chase as an a-list movie actor? andy dick? eddie izzard as a man's man? it sounds like eddie murphy to me, who is always top billed but in low performing movies, making him a shaky A-list. and that red leather outfit from eddie murphy raw makes him a man's man

    ReplyDelete
  46. Totally Carrey. He was in Europe promoting I love You Phillip Morris (old work) a few weeks ago. No wonder JM booted him.

Though my first thought was Robin Williams.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Eddie Murphy....not sure it was done for a gag. If it was as a joke, I could see it being Sasha Baron Cohen. He REALLY gets into his roles.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Not Jim Carrey. EL wouldn't think of him as just B or C. Carrey was A all the way during the '90s and early '00s. Remember The Cable Guy or Bruce Almighty: he was at one time the best paid actor in all Hollywood.
Mike Meyers and Eddie Murphy have been the objects of gay rumors for years.

Let's focus a little on the "Primarily movies now", which means his movie career was second to his TV or stand-up career until two or three years ago. That's definitely a serious clue.

BTW, Couple Retreat was just released in France but Vince Vaughn definitely didn't bother to go here to make some promo. It was mostly a technical release (they have to play the movie in a couple of theaters to get some tax deductions when it's broadcast on TV).

  49. ok, i'm done. i can't read your site because the ads are too annoying and freeze up my computer and there are more everyday. it's no fun anymore.

    headin back over to perez.

thanks for the laughs and the goss enty. best of luck to you.

    **steps down from soapbox.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Enty would never consider Dane Cook A-list.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Has Tyler Perry ever been considered a man's man?

    ReplyDelete
  52. Dane Cook & Seth Rogen seem the best fits to me.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Can Tim Allen travel overseas? Years ago on the Johnny Carson show, Tim Allen said he couldn't get a passport because he had committed a serious felony when in his 20s.

    ReplyDelete
  54. eddie izzard is ALWAYS eddie izzard, and he's a "male tomboy" to quote himself. he's a transvestite, not gay.
i can see tim allen doing it as a joke, but not for real.

    who's "method" these days?

dustin hoffman? no, that doesn't work.

    i'm going w/ tyler perry.

    ReplyDelete
  55. How is everyone missing this?!

    Its Mike Myers.

He's trying to revive Austin Powers (yeah baby).

He is very out in TO, wearing women's caftans.

I think he only married Robyn to use Linda Richman (her mother) personality.

He is B/C to me. He was on SNL but known more for movies and Austin Powers was a man's man (for the man who trying too hard to pretend he isn't for the men)

  57. this screams Will Smith!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Ohhhh, Mike Myers is a great guess. I wouldn't think of him as A either, but since there was reluctance to call him that in the blind, it could really fit!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Brainy and Selock, I'm with y'alls on this one. Although I can't imagine him being female-identified; the gossip was all that he was just plain old gay a while back, wasn't it.

Dane Cook. What a horrible thought -- I want him to remain as a permanent occupant of the heterosexual universe forever. Gay people have enough trouble, without being burdened with unfunny comedians.

    ReplyDelete
  60. How is it that only two people have guessed Tyler Perry? This SCREAMS Tyler.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I don't think it's Mike Meyers. I've never seen him out and proud in Toronto, and I live in the gaybourhood. If you're going to flounce, this is the place.

    ReplyDelete
  62. And if it were Meyers, wouldn't Enty say "foreign-born"?

    ReplyDelete
  63. TOO MANY ANNOYING ADS ON YOUR PAGE!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  64. This has got to be Jim Carrey. "I Love You Phillip Morris" is out in London now, and he's probably trying to drum up publicity in other European markets. Something went screwy with the company doing the distribution or something. (if you're interested: http://www.deadline.com/?s=phillip+morris). It was at Sundance in 2009 and is the one with Ewan McGregor. And Carrey's just nuts enough to insist on everyone calling him by his female name.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Jim C is definitely A List. I like the Mike Meyers guess.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I was thinking Sascha Baron Cohen. He's always top billed, but not really an A lister in my mind. He already has a female first name, so....?

    ReplyDelete
  67. My BF sort of knows Kevin James. Absolutely NOT him.
