Oprah's Dad Wants Maury

This would be the ultimate Maury show. He could make it a pay per view special and then call it a career. He and Connie could just sail off to the sunset. The National Enquirer has revealed that Norh Robinson is Oprah's biological father. He doesn't want any of her money. He doesn't want anything from her except to have her submit to a DNA test and then to have one father and daughter conversation with her before he dies. The guy is 84 years old and says he has tried to get Oprah to take a DNA test before. He has also sent her letters with items from his past.

Oprah has always called her mom's long term boyfriend her father. The NY Post managed to get an interview with Norh. You can read it here.

  2. It must be true, look at that resemblance. Same face shape, same nose.

  3. My family has lots of oddities, one of them is my mom was adopted and another is my BFF found out in her teens that her father was not her biological father. Unless you know someone who has been raised by non-biological parents, you won't understand all the complexities and issues that go with it. My mom had no desire to meet her biological family, but I did. And she considers the family that raised her the only family she has.

My BFF is totally opposite. She wants to find her father but her mother will not tell her any information. It has caused a riff in the family. but her mother would rather have an estranged daughter than tell the truth.

It is difficult to understand, and everyone responds differently. Oprah has her own reasons for not wanting to know. Maybe it is money, but she earned every penny and should guard it. And she has said before that being sent to live with Vernon Winfrey turned her life from wild to calm.

  5. i'm sure she has her reasons. i know i wouldn't like people poking around in my family matters and writing books about them----so i feel sorry for ope on this one. we don't know anything about this.

  6. Clearly, Oprah made her choice not to respond to him, so he should just leave it alone.

  7. Yes, she really does look like him.

But if he did nothing to take care of her as a child, I can see why she'd want nothing to do with him.

  8. I hear you Terri. I was legally adopted by my grandparents and the identity of my biological father is unknown to me. They were great parents and I have no desire discover him or his family.

If he's not looking for money he should just let secrets be secrets.

  9. I don't see any resemblance at all beyond skin colour.

  10. Let this man be at peace. While he may not want any financial gain from this, you know that there are some gold diggin' looking for a check and revalency nuts in the Oprah/Robinson possible family tree.

  11. This is a tough one in my opinion. I had a strained relationship with my father since I was a little girl, but when I received the news that he was critically ill (damn cancer) I flew out with my kids and we spent 5 days with him. He'd never met my boys before and unfortunately was bedridden and completely unable to interact with them.

We spoke a lot, and he apologized for being a shitty father as I apologized for being a shitty adult daughter (I had a lot of resent). He passed away a few days after I flew back home. I know that our meeting helped us both; he died in peace and I was and still am at peace after that reunion. I traveled back home and attended his funeral and met a lot of people who told me amazing stories about my father, a man I never got to really know.

I feel that eventually Oprah will regret not meeting with her father. I really I wish she did.

  12. I don't see any resemblance. Also Oprah has enough embarrassment and craziness in her family. If she brings in this Robinson clan it just adds to the drama because of her fame and wealth. Even if HE doesn't want anything from her I'm sure the rest of his family will.

Sounds like a job for publications that pay sources: Get a sample of Oprah's DNA (drinking glass, dinner napkin, loose strand of hair?)

  14. @Lila - I agree w/ you. She might really end up regretting it. I know others who have had similar situations as you. Its not easy.

This makes me sad for him but b/c he is an old man. At least call the man. You don't have to have a relationship with him. I don't think she has to do the DNA thing but I would sure as hell want to know....

  15. And just because he doesn't want her money, doesn't mean any of his children (her half siblings) won't be sniffing around. Money makes people crazy.
