What Is Sexual Contact?
According to KDKA in Pittsburgh, Ben Roethlisberger admitted to police that he had sexual contact with the woman he is accused of assaulting but never sexual intercourse. So, what exactly is sexual contact? Making out? Oral pleasure? Apparently whatever it was it was so dizzying that Ben says immediately after the act the woman fell and hit her head. Oh, one thing I didn't notice before when I read about this case is that the assault happened in a bar so I'm guessing the sexual contact would have been limited. Didn't Ben or his people deny that he had even talked to this woman.
I wonder how bad people feel now for that woman in Reno who accused Ben of sexual assault when she went to fix his television. Her claims were kind of dismissed because she had other issues going on in her life so didn't seem credible. She seems pretty darn credible now doesn't she?
Unfortunately, he looks like all the guys I had sexual contacts with in college. Quite willingly, I must admit.
ReplyDelete...but thats neither here nor there.
As he plays for the Steelers, I have only one thing to say...
ReplyDeleteGO BROWNS!
Whatever
ReplyDeleteNo, I don't see how this makes the woman in Reno's claims any more credible.
ReplyDeleteI never believe in blaming the victim so that is not what I am basing my opinion on, I just don't see how this claim automatically supports the other one.
She accidentally hit her head after some undisclosed sexual activity?
ReplyDeleteWTF,Ben??
Isn't he a millionaire athlete with football groupies all over him? Why does he have to aggress for sex?
These women were victimized, and we may never know to what degree, but something shady happened...What about the ones who have not talked about it?
Why do these men throw away their careers, disappoint little children? He is a hero everywhere, but in Pittsburgh it is even more so. This is devastating to the city, not to mention the Rooney family, who took him as their own.
This guy needs big help for his problem, and his career is going to suffer.
What a disappointment. Yuck
BTW, being from Pittsburgh myself, and knowing a lot of people who know him...
ReplyDeleteThe consensus among people who deal with and work with him everyday is that he could not have done this, that he is a bit of a lunkhead, and girls take advantage of him a lot.
people around him feel more upset that he and his handlers allowed him to be in situations where women could create a scenario without proof and make an accusation looking to get settlement in a lawsuit...
I, personally, do not know the answer, BUT my personal take is: .Where there is TWICE the smoke...please!!
I have been going over this in my head over and over and I just don't know what to think- He shouldn't put himself in that situation especially after he was accused (warranted or not) of sexual assault. I understand he wants to go out and have a good time but he has to show some restraint- get her number, take her out the next day and then see what happens. It is just a reality of being famous that you have to go through the extra step, whereas the benefit of our lowly status is we can have a 1 night stand understanding the other persons ulterior motives :) I also wanted to give a kudos to her sorority whocalled in nationals and put them on a lockdown- no wearing their greek letters, no facebook, no twitter- so that no one can get to them and ask them questions about the case. Hopefully they all stick together in the radio silence, I think it is a great example of what a sorority should be like, solidarity with its members.
ReplyDeleteI doubt that his intent was malicious. I suspect it was more of a drunken, "I'm a Steeler" sort of thing. I had read elsewhere that it took place in the women's restroom, and if that is that case, that shows some aggression on his part.
ReplyDeleteWhatever it was, he needs to learn how to better handle himself publicly. If one of us gets drunk and makes an ass of ourselves at a bar by groping someone, it's a little embarrassment. For him it's national headlines. Sorry, that may seem unfair, but it goes along with the giant salary and the adulation of the fans.
Sexual contact to me sounds like oral sex and heavy petting (do people even say that anymore). I can't say whether he did it or not, but he should have been a lot smarter about the entire situation. Especially since he has been accused of this kind of behavior before. Hopefully the truth will come out but rarely in cases like this do we get the entire story. You know how the saying goes "There are three sides to every story-Mine, yours, and the truth."
ReplyDeletePlease...I'll bet you anything women throw themselves at the man like he was gold-plated, diamond-encrusted 1000% pure chocolate, especially in a club!
ReplyDeleteI'm partially with Adobe88 above--why do his "handlers" allow this kind of contact to occur in the first place?
I tend to think it's a case of Michael Phelps-type naivete on Ben's part more than anything.
Sucks that someone famous can't have fun out in public without shit happening but they need to be more mindful.
These are athletes here, not intellectuals. Remember idiot Plaxico Burress? Now THAT was a bone-head thing to do in a club...
According to reports I read, the assault took place in the ladies' room at the bar.
ReplyDeleteMost shrinks will say that rape/sexual assault is more about power than sex. Not sure how I feel about that assessment, but looking at this from their point of view, a famous, well-paid athlete knows a thing or two about power and entitlement. I know how this sounds but, in this case, I'm going to assume he's guilty until proven innocent. Especially with a previous accusation. That establishes a pattern...There are way too many dudes like this in the world.
And...if this did occur in the women's bathroom she was just as much a part of it as he was.
ReplyDeleteAs if no one would've seen a 6-foot-8 giant ducking under the door jamb of the ladies' room dragging a girl in with him to have his way with her against her will.
Yeah, if you at first deny even talking to the woman, your credibility suffers. Why even deny it? Be forthright, and you'll probably come off a lot better.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, maybe she hit her head after she swooned at his manhood after swallowing?
I hope to never have Marisa type peep on a jury.
ReplyDeleteLOL @ Rocketqueen
ReplyDeleteya but just because she went in the bathroom with him doesn't mean it's a blanket consent on the act,it could have been for sex and something occurred, she changed her mind and said NO.
ReplyDeleteanything after that is assault.
@Marisa
ReplyDeleteI hope u r never accused of a crime and are assumed to be guilty before any evidence is given.
Right now the whole situation seems like a HE SAID/SHE SAID.
And...if this did occur in the women's bathroom she was just as much a part of it as he was.
ReplyDeleteAs if no one would've seen a 6-foot-8 giant ducking under the door jamb of the ladies' room dragging a girl in with him to have his way with her against her will.
@ selenakyle, I agree with you. ...still not credible.
I have been following the case closely and saw a post on tmz that seemed very credible. The person says they are a friend and what happened was that they were hanging out that night and went into the private restroom in the vip area (neither male nor female really-not a bunch of stalls, just one room) and they went in there to do some coke. I guess he got frisky with her in there and grabbed her and put her hand down her pants, took it out and licked it-several times. She says the entire thing was completely non-consual and she was humiliated by him and completely grossed out. Apparently, she had a head injury, so at some point, she hit her head when trying to get out of his clutches. The reason for the dna test is that his saliva would be found in her vagina. Note that he keeps saying he did not have intercourse with her.
ReplyDeletesorry...typo...he put HIS hand down HER pants...using his finger...sorry for the graphic detail
ReplyDelete@Marisa, I don't know if you've had some bad experiences in your life, or if you're in america, or anything about you. BUT! The american way is to prove guilt, not the other way around. The burden of proof is on the prosecutor/district attorneys office.
ReplyDeleteI've actually been molested/raped, and yeah, I wished that MY credibility weren't in question blablabla, but I understand the judicial system. And come to think of it, on the contrary, I was under the same scrutiny only on the other side of the coin.
So he banged this chick's head against the bathroom stall door while she was giving him a BJ? Is that what I'm to make of his confession? Didn't he say "Is your head ok, honey"?
ReplyDeleteWhat a DOCHEBAG!

ReplyDeleteSorry for the delted posts. It posted 3 times.
ReplyDeleteI didn't read the other poster's credible report of what Ben did to the girl, by sticking his hand down her pants, and licking his fingers several times. Yeah, that is pretty violating and definitely sexual assault.
Hey, can I request that the phrase "oral pleasure" not be used as a euphemism for oral-genital contact? It's just too darned whimsical and fluffy a word, and it makes me picture people with bunny ears giggling naughtily while they nibble on each other. I'm just saying.
ReplyDeleteMore on topic, isn't penetration of any kind with any object, fingers or whatever, about the worst category of rape, in terms of the way that the laws are written? More than a douchebag, he deserves to be prosecuted fully with the strongest provisions of the law. I might joke about a lot of things, but rape isn't funny.
ReplyDeleteI read on one of the ESPN or CbSSports boards that there was an allegation in college too. Roger Goodell really need to do an investigation this time.
ReplyDeleteJw12-if that is correct, then there is definitely a pattern emerging. I was raped about 25 years ago and it was deemed "not credible." I know it happened because I was there, but the prosectuors who turned down the case told me they did believe me and warned him that they would keep the case open and go after him if another allegation came their way and they would prosecute both, as they would stand up together better in court that way.
ReplyDeleteI never heard anything after that, so I assume he has either not offended again, moved away or died. I hope the latter.
Barton, you are correct...but I am sure that Ben is banking on no intercourse/no crime. He was also probably banking on no DNA, but probably didn't realize saliva contains DNA. I am sure his lawyer has schooled him now, becuase they are resisting allowing him to speak with authorities and I bet they will fight the DNA too.
ReplyDeletei think when people hear accusations like this, they're quick to yell 'liar' at the woman. in some cases, they're right.
ReplyDeletebut i have a creepy feeling about ol' ben. i think this just might be a dangerous guy.
@Julie, @LadyJ, @, well of couple others - I hope I never have to be on a jury either! Especially in a sexual assault case. Maybe I'll try the Liz Lemon dressed like Princess Leia move.
ReplyDeleteI did have a terrible experience when I was younger, hence the skewed POV. But, that is neither here nor there. Oh, also, I'm in the States, NYC to be exact. With any other situation/crime I'm entirely logical and would agree, but with this one, not so much. At least I admit it, right?
@Marisa, I wasn't trying to belittle you at all. I kinda almost had stockholm syndrome (maybe not exactly) or somehow related with my attacker. It was over years, and he was a close family friend.
ReplyDeleteI somewhat see where you're coming from, I just think that the media doesn't help peoples thought processes on this type of incident.
@Julie- No offense taken, my love. Let's just all agree that if this guy did do it, he gets punished appropriately.
ReplyDeletei do agree. and i miss nyc. i used to live in bkln. <3 can't believe its been 7 years since I've been in hell, errm PA lol
ReplyDeleteHahahaha on that shirt.
ReplyDeleteIn the state of Oregon, sexual contact can mean grabbing someone's butt or boobs.
ReplyDeleteI have people, as young as 10 (that's right - TEN) who are charged with sex offenses for grabbing a girl's butt.
I don't know what the true story is, but if she was drunk, falling and hitting her head could be completely independent of any groping on his part.
No matter what, the guy is an idiot for putting himself in a situation after being accused once before. If the first allegation was false- why the heck chance a second one? On the other hand, if this was IN A BAR and IN PUBLIC - where the heck are the witnesses?
Wow Kara, Oregon seems pretty fucked up...but I'm from Florida so who am I to judge? Shit like that is why I am a paranoid freak that does not trust anyone. Apparently nowadays you can't even breathe without becoming some kind of criminal (gotta keep that prison-industrial complex strong as it's now the ONLY industry we've got!) And people wonder why others are so unfriendly, standoffish and isolated...UMM DUH!
ReplyDeleteAs for this guy (not gonna try and spell his name because I don't care) I don't know whether he did it or not, but I DO know that if I was famous, I'd be even more insanely paranoid and isolated than usual. I'm just a regular person, but this guy is a huge fucking target to people who want to make a quick buck. You'd think they'd know it and act accordingly, but apparently not. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what comes out....
