Keith Bennett Memorial Service 45 Years After His Death

Many of you probably don't know who Keith Bennett is, but for true Smiths fans you know exactly who he is. One of the best songs ever written by The Smiths was Suffer Little Children. The song was based on the murder of Keith Bennett and other children who were murdered during a several year period in the 1960's. The murderers confessed about 25 years ago and led police to all the bodies but Keith has never been found. Today, Keith's mother at least finally had her memorial service for her son. She said at the service is that her only wish in life is to find the body of her son before she dies. I can't even imagine the pain she has gone through all of these years.

  1. I hope she finally gets her wish and that it gives her some peace.

People I know who've lost a child tell me that the pain just never, ever goes away. Look at her face--it has me in tears too.

  2. This gave me the sads in a big way. I watched the whole thing and am wondering if Hindley/Brady never told them where little Keith's body was?

  3. The mother has the same haunted look of a woman in my neighborhood growing up who lost her son in Vietnam. Even as a child I could sense the pain in her vacant eyes.

  4. I really just don't understand what would drive these two people to murder these children. Really sad.

  6. I wish they would just tell her where her son is so she can have that one question answered. But they are evil and probably won't. They don't care. It's horrendous.

  8. Bless his poor mother. I wish that his body could be found so his mum will find peace.
How big must the hole in her heart be to know what those beasts (they don't deserve to be called human.) did to her little boy and that his body might never be found. I wish her a miracle.

  10. myra hindley is dead, i think. ian brady is totally unrepentant. serial killers/rapists who target children are the lowest of the low. such a sad and awful story. love the smiths, though! thanks for sharing this, enty.

  11. Myra Hindley died in 2002. Apparently very few came to her funeral, family included, because their anonymity is so important given the severity of the crimes and how the citizens of Manchester generally hold anyone associated to them. It's probably very haunting for her to not be able to uncover the mystery of the murder. Hopefully she isn't plagued by some sort of guilt for her efforts.
