For the past three days I have been telling everyone I know to look at this video and somehow I forgot to post it here. A few years ago the band OK Go had their famous treadmill video. As cool as that video was and the live performance of it on MTV, this video goes miles and miles beyond that video.
I have watched this video about 30 times now and I love how they make it all seem like one continuous action. The making of for this video would totally be worth watching. Weeks I'm guessing although it does look they have a very large crew to help and it also looks like State Farm may have let them use one of their facilities. You have to watch.
Now this is a video. A feast for the eyes (and ears).
ReplyDeleteWatch and learn, Beyonce.
OMG. This is the best music video I have ever seen. Even better than Peter Gabriel's Sledgehammer. And the uplifting message in the music just makes it that much better. thanks Enty - I really needed that today. :)
ReplyDeleteImma really happy for you and Imma let you finish, Beyonce, but OK GO just made the best video of all time.
ReplyDeleteLoved it!!!
ReplyDeleteI loved so much about this video I don't know where to begin. Beautiful, fascinating, funny.
ReplyDeleteRespect!
Best bit: At 2:50, the guy in the blue splashed overalls crashing into the boxes. Fun times!
ReplyDeleteI don't get it. I mean, I get it conceptually but I don't get the hoopla and love.
ReplyDeletei am now officially smiling from ear to ear...that was delicious
ReplyDeleteThe video is very Rube Goldberg. Or reminiscent of the Mousetrap board game.
ReplyDeleteOk Go has the coolest videos and (BONUS!) the lead singer, Damian Kulash, is SO CUTE!
WTF, the previous release from this album, is also very cool:

Okay, fun over for me. Back to work!
Totally from the Mousetrap game! One of my favs. Thanks for posting!
ReplyDeleteWow! That was really cool!!
ReplyDeleteI would never have the patience or creativeness to do it...
Whoever Ok Go is.. Kudos to you!
What's the name nothing pulled up on my screen
ReplyDeletethe original video for this song is also pretty cool! they had the notre dame marching band help them out...

Same song, different video, also all one shot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJKythlXAIY&feature=channel
ReplyDeleteAnd here's the background on the rube goldberg version: http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2010/03/ok-go-rube-goldberg/
@shanna leigh! OMG you're right - I had seen that version too and thought I recognized the tune. They're both great!
ReplyDeleteKind of like Weezer's Island in the Sun videos...although their second one was much better.
Amazing! I'm having trouble getting my five year old away from the screen now - he's fascinated with anything remotely Mousetrap-like (though he's never played the game).

ReplyDeleteI first saw OkGo when they opened for Panic! At the Disco in 2006 or 07. For their final number they did a live version of their video for A Million Ways (sorry about the link, I guess I can't do it right, but please take a look.):

And they did it while the video played on a large screen next to them. They were WONDERFUL. After their show and after Panic! you could find them stationed around the venue (one by the bar, one by two of the exits and one in the parking lot) just waiting to say hi and thank you for coming. The NICEST, most genuine and sincerely thankful guys I may have ever met. Needless to say, I went home and got anything of theirs that I could. Showed their creative and fun videos to anyone that would stand near my ipod long enough. Most people were just as enchanted by them as I was. I love to see a band like this, so honestly talented and creative and just happy to do it, and I LOVE that Enty is sharing the love for them.
Thanks, Enty!
If ever there were proof that Enty is a man. A straight man.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant!
ReplyDeleteAren't these guys actually known for doing the one-shot video? I don't think this is edited, Enty...
ReplyDeleteVery fun.
Awesome! So, so clever.
ReplyDeleteI have absolutely no idea who these guys are, but that was great. As a kid I always loved Rube Goldberg.
ReplyDeleteOK Go has also posted "Making of TTSP" videos on YouTube. There are 4 in the series that show interviews, planning, and some set-up. It's interesting, but I thought too short. I want MORE!
ReplyDeleteIt's times like this that I hope the family of Rube Goldberg get some kind of residuals.
ReplyDeleteYes Audrey! Mousetrap! That is the first thing I thought of. I loved that game.
ReplyDeleteGood clip but this was done better in 2003 in an ad for Honda.

To Mango and everyone else who said it: When watching the video, the only thing I could think was that it was the most elaborate setup of Mousetrap I'd ever seen.
ReplyDeleteOK Go is just a fun band.
