D'Angelo's Publicist Cracks Me Up
I want to make sure you understand going in that this is about the singer D'Angelo and not Beverly D'Angelo. If it was Beverly the story would be way more interesting, and as a bonus would be someone everyone knows. Beverly is the very popular and talented actress while D'Angelo had a fairly successful record called Voodoo ten years ago and has done little to nothing else since except find new and more creative ways to get arrested. All in all, Beverly gossip is always better, especially when she and Al Pacino are fighting over the kids, but today it is D'Angelo.
Anyway, over the weekend D'Angelo was arrested for soliciting a prostitute. A female one. See, again, kind of tame. It was the middle of the night and he offered $40. He got arrested. The police found $12,000 in cash in his car. Maybe if he had decided to spend more than $40 he might not have got arrested. Just saying.
Today his manager released a statement saying D'Angelo was innocent and blah blah blah. The part that cracked me up was his manager said D'Angelo was in good health. Huh? Who asked if he was healthy? He also managed to make sure to let all D'Angelo fans know that a new album is on the way. Whatever. When is the new Vacation movie?
Beverley D'angelo was just on Cougartown, HILARIOUS as ever.
ReplyDeleteBTW they claim D'angelo was strolling trannie roll here in NYC so perhaps he was looking for a chick with a d*ck

ReplyDeleteThere is going to be a new vacation movie? Nice.
ReplyDeleteDamn. All I can remember of this guy is how SICK (in a really good way) his body was in that one video. Nope, can't remember the name of the song or anything, but DAYUM, he was cut.
ReplyDeleteI'm still a huge fan of D'Angelo....and that song was "How does it feel?" And I second that DAYYYUUMMMM.
ReplyDelete...and the video

crack is whack, people.
ReplyDeletehe was beautiful in "How Does it Feel?" Love that song.
Thanks Angie. Yum.
ReplyDeleteIn defense of the publicist... d'angelo was in really really bad shape, one of those sad stories about someone with lots of promise who kind of went nuts, had an addiction (apparently alcohol in his case) and is still trying to work it all out.
ReplyDeletethere was an article in spin about him that made me sort of want to cry. http://www.spin.com/articles/dangelo-what-hell-happened
and i really only know the one song/video/body, too.
What kind of prostitute can you even get for $40?
ReplyDeleteBetsy- my friend in the music biz told me it is straight up crack cocaine...
ReplyDeleteI love Cougar Town lol.
ReplyDeletecocaine is a helluva drug.
ReplyDeleteHis body in Brown Sugar is still in the fantasy rotation. I hope he gets off the wrong track ( pun intended ) and cleans up..he is a stunning creature.
Gotta love how some folks fail to do research on someone - especially a Black artist - before posting misinformation re: 'D'Angelo had a fairly successful record called Voodoo ten years ago', as opposed to celebrating a white actress who hasn't been relevant since 1989.
ReplyDeleteOk so it seems that even TopLevelExecutives can be morons.
ReplyDeleteAs opposed to anonymous dingleberries named Cindy who are confirmed morons?
ReplyDeleteUm, but TopLevelExecutive...what the hell are you talking about? What does this have to do with black vs. white? Seriously.
ReplyDeleteI'll be a black gay guy for George Clooney and a tranny for D'Angelo. He is stunning. He is incredible in concert and a WONDERFUL musician. He plays most of the instruments on his albums. Oh, yeah, and I third the "DAYYYYUMMM" from how does it feel.
ReplyDeleteUm...damn. I just watched that video without sound and caught myself saying "Oh my god" out loud three times and squirming in my seat. That man is beautiful in that video.
ReplyDeleteTo learn he is also talented re: playing most of his instruments makes me incredibly hopeful he'll make a comeback :)
D'Angelo is, as others have written, not only exceptionally handsome but a true talent. Besides other songs mentioned, I love his cover of "Cruisin'." If he's suffering from addiction, I really hope he gets successful treatment and resurrects his career to better than it was in the late '90s.
