Chloe Sevigny Trashes Big Love - Takes Cast Members With Her
If as an actor or actress you don't like the character on your show, then I think you should discuss that with the producers, director and writers. That's it. Sure, you might share with your fellow cast members your frustrations, but whatever you do you don't want to become known as the person who is a pain in the ass and complaining to the press.
Unfortunately Chloe Sevigny never got the memo. In an interview with The Onion AV Club, Chloe became Katherine Heigl II, with her blasting of Big Love.
"It was awful this season, as far as I’m concerned. I’m not allowed to say that! [Gasps.] It was very telenovela. I feel like it kind of got away from itself. The whole political campaign seemed to me very farfetched. I mean, I love the show, I love my character, I love the writing, but I felt like they were really pushing it this last season."
I think the season was not as good as the past, but it wasn't horrible and still better then most other television. The thing is, Chloe was not content in just going down in flames on her own. Nope. She had to take other cast members with her.
"Me and the girls [Jeanne Tripplehorn and Ginnifer Goodwin] definitely were not very happy with where it was going—or more kind of, “We really hope it’s going to work. It seems like they’re really pushing it.”
I haven't heard the "girls" say anything about it. They probably know the best way to accomplish something and not have your character die in a freak accident is to talk to the people who can do something about it. If your job sucks, you don't go telling the world, you tell the people who can do something about it. All Chloe is doing is setting it up so no one will hire her. When there are a million people who want a job acting, why are you going to hire the one that might go stab you in your back. You won't.
Tacky.
ReplyDeleteI adore Chloe S, and was really surprised to see her trash BL. I think we'll see her apology/taken out of context press release by the beginning of next week.
ReplyDeleteWhile it is no secret that Chloe can be difficult at times. Just look at how she acted at the Golden Globes. She was going to rip the stair escort a new ass hole on stage for stepping/ripping her dress.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, everthing she said is true. The season was convoluted. The senator story really was the worst and highly unlikely. It seems they tried to punch up the season with using guest stars. While it was nice to see Carrie er, I mean Sissy Spacek. Seemed like a waste of time.
I think the biggest point Chloe brought up is that it was only 9 episodes for a lot of story. I hope next season HBO throws them a bone and gives them 10 or 11. I miss the days of 13 episodes. Cheap fuckers.
I would say she has a point.
ReplyDeleteNOW IF SHE WAS WRONG IT WOULD BE ANOTHER STORY...
ReplyDeleteI always like it when actors are more honest about their feelings toward their shows--it's better than cookie cutter false praise. Maybe she could have been more politic in her wording, but it's always nice to glimpse behind the curtain.
ReplyDeleteI think we were all thinking "they're really pushing it." I know I was anyway. Like shazzzba says she's not wrong and she says she loves the show and her character so this is a mole hill. I think the writers/creators even admitted they need to refocus. ReplyDeleteI wasn't happy with this season either. It felt rushed and bordered on parody at times. Such a shame. It has a stellar cast. Still loads better that a lot of what passes for TV programming these days. Maybe the showrunners and HBO will start listening and bring Big Love back to awesome next season.
ReplyDeleteOh my god, I think I'm starting to like her- she's right with this comment, but I guess the writes won't be happy
ReplyDeleteLALALA DON'T TELL ME!! I just finished Season 3 on DVD from Netflix.
ReplyDeleteI love Love LOVE Big Love! And Chloe's character is a big part of the reason. I actually don't care how farfetched it gets, I'll still love it.
She's right! Maybe they all tried talking some sense into the writers/producers to no avail and this is out of frustration? Katherine Heigl seemed to talk shit about everything just cuz she wanted her tv/movie characters to come off bigger/better. Chloe seems to care about being in something good and cutting edge.

ReplyDeleteWell, she's kind of right. It was not the best season. I am a big fan of this show but...yeah. She could have refrained from discussing it with a reporter though.
ReplyDeleteWell she's right Season 4 SUCKED BIG TIME but she said it in the wrong venue.
ReplyDeleteDidn't another actress also kind of trash Big Love? Not one of the stars, someone young who was going off to do something else. I thought it was weird.
ReplyDeleteSPOILER!!!
ReplyDeleteAmen, Chloe. this season DID suck! that crap with the 4th wife, the Mexico raid, the election? and killing off ROMAN??? wtf?
i applaud her for saying what we all thought and please, you know damn well they aren't getting rid of Nicki anytime soon. Her and Alby make that show.
I stopped watching it last season because the story lines were stressin' me out! I basically kept up with it through Gawker and it all sounded so ridiculous. I miss the first season where there was a lot of sex, ha ha
ReplyDeleteI guess I'm in the minority. Love the show. Loved Season 4.
ReplyDeleteDear Chloe
ReplyDeleteDon't deficate where you eat or criticize your writers or your character will end up horribly disfigured mute girl.
Now she apologized for the comments, saying she was provoced by the journalist... that sound strange, but I guess she was forced to say SOMETHING to try to cover it up..
ReplyDeleteAnd, I agree with all of you. This season left me and the SO saying "whaaaaat?" at the end of each episode.
Say what you want about her, but she is god awful ugly.
ReplyDeleteI liked this past season...it did get a little weird, so I see what y'all are saying. I HATE Chloe's character on the show but she def. makes for good story lines. I'm sure her co-workers are thrilled with this statement.
