Today was Dennis Hopper's day to file declarations in his ongoing divorce battle with current wife Victoria Duffy. Hopper filed for divorce on January 14. Duffy was described in the court papers as "insane and out of her mind." Hopper said in his papers that he now weighs just 120 pounds and doesn't think he will make it to next Christmas.
Hopper's son Henry said that "Victoria has made my father's life a living hell over at least the last six months." Victoria had previously accused Dennis of abusing her and threatening her with a gun. She also said that Dennis cannot manage his own affairs which was contradicted by two doctors.
Meanwhile, Dennis wants to spend more time with his 6 year old daughter who he claims he rarely sees.

it sounds like she was trying to name him legally incompetent and become his conservator and the kids nipped that in the bud.

ReplyDeletethat's a nice way to live out the end of your life. I can't think that he is all saintly and not caring about the money at all though--he wouldn't have married a money grubber like that if he didn't have something in common with her.
ReplyDeleteWhy do these old rich and famous men marry women who are 20,30,40 years younger and think that they really love them??? boggles the mind. I dont see too many poor grandpas around where I live with a wife that is 30 years younger.
ReplyDeleteYou know I hate to say this but cancer patients can be very mean and petty when they're dying. They don't mellow out and some of them do not make an effort to put closure to their relationships.
ReplyDeleteThat being said it is a possibility that some of the wife's accusations are actually true.
Of course this is just an opinion as I have no idea what goes on in the Hopper household.

I can remember seeing many pictures of the "happy couple" on red carpets. Then he gets cancer and it's all about the money??

I love Hopper's work and am very sorry that he is ailing, but I think they're both whack-jobs.

ReplyDeleteThat old coot is as sharp as a whip! Believe me, Ive done business with plenty of old shrewd misers like him! She was a waitress! He set his sights on her like the rest of the self observed DIRTY OLD MEN and swooped down. People like him are like sociopaths who have this sick sense of entitlement. They know how to impress these girls that never dreamed of the life he introduced her to. His friends AND family know the deal. They allowed it but NOW the claws come out and she will get screwed! The So Called doctor is just doing what his client (and probably) friend (the courts should look at the length of their relationship). I bet Nothing is as it seems here.
ReplyDeleteskeeball my boyfriend is 28 years older than me and he is not wealthy. Actually I make more money than he does. I love him. We were friends before we got together and we have a good relationship. It does happen.
ReplyDeleteI can't make a judgment on this story. I have heard that hopper can be a real ass and it is also possible that she is just after his money. The fact that it is hopper's children who are making the statements for their father makes it even cloudier. I also don't place much stock in what the doctors are saying bc you can easily shop around for one that will see things your way. I just don't know about this one.
@Alice D Millionaire~that is fantastic! I think it just seems that so many of these older, very wealthy actors marry these way younger women and then act all shocked when it doesn't work out.
