The Joy Of Victory & Agony Of Defeat - Hollywood Style

For those of you old enough to remember a show called Wide World Of Sports which featured various moments of joy in sports and the agony of defeat was a guy who fell off the end of a ski jump in a dizzying crash sure to have broken bones. Every week that athlete got to revisit his nightmare thanks to that intro to the show. Well, yesterday's Super Bowl had a celebrity attached to each team. For Indianapolis it was Hank Baskett who is the husband of former Playboy Playmate Kendra Wilkinson and now reality stars of their own show. For The New Orleans Saints there is Kim Kardashian who is the girlfriend of Reggie Bush.

At the start of the second half, Hank had a chance to recover an onside kick. It was in his hands and then it wasn't. Apparently Kendra ran to where the television cameras could not see her, Hank didn't talk to the media after the game and Kendra was spotted in tears at the end of the game. Kim on the other hand was all smiles.

  1. thank goodness Reggie didn't propose to Kim after she weaseled her way into the post game interview on NFL network...I was cringing the whole time and you could tell she was waiting for it!! Famewh*re!!

  2. She's had a lot of work done, no?

  3. UGH. Can't stand the Kardashian family, and am pretty upset that they'll be milking this for all it's worth.

The only thing that makes me feel better is knowing that a win for NO might help the city some.

  4. Underneath all her fame-whoredom, Kendra is more "real" than Kim. I have to admit that I felt bad for Kendra when I saw these photos.

  5. So annoyed Reggie Bush was on the podium he did is not/was not an impact player. Even Shockey was on the ground which, as much as I loathe him, I can admit he made a difference by getting in the endzone. I will say again Reggie Bush is as draft bust! He is famous for his college years and dating someone who manages to get herself into any magazine/newspaper/blog while promoting her vapid lifestyle.

REALLY Sorry for the rant-- Drew Brees with his son- so cute and I am sure that everyone has seen this but this is what makes me happy about the Saints winning

  7. Blech. This is the downside of the Saints winning.

  8. Now it will be fun to watch Reggie Bush not propose to Kim after she said they would get engaged if he won a superbowl.

  9. LOL @Serena! I forgot about that! I bet he cried himself to sleep that night and NOT because he won!

  10. Why is it when someone's team loses, the game sucked, and the officiating was bad? I guess it was a bad call when Manning threw that pick 6 in the fourth quarter. It was a competitive game, the refs did NOT impact the outcome. I love Jim Caldwell, and I respect the Colts organization. If they had played any other team, I would have been rooting for them.

  11. It was the "thrill" of victory and the agony of defeat.
I think the ski-jumper was foreign (European), so fortunately probably did not have to re-live the moment every week.
    Yup, here he is:

i was pulling hard for the saints - i do feel for kendra though, tears give me the sads. someone probably reminded her, wayyyy too soon, about the onside kick bouncing off of hank.

  14. I don't understand the crying Kendra. She didn't play in the game. Did Hank snap at her for ttrying to talk to him too soon after the game? And why would she bring an infant to the game?

  15. It's just a game, Kendra. He won't be hauled out back and shot afterwards.

  16. WAAAAAAA my rich man didn't win the game. HOW will I spin this on my reality show. WAAAAAAAA. Please bitch, you're still rich and dumb as a box of rocks.

  17. What Serena said. I saw some picture of Kim kissing Reggie after the game and it didn't look good. At all.

  18. All I think about this post is, I'm glad my last name isn't Baskett.

  19. I will be really surprised if Hank Basket is playing professional football next year. The guy choked big time. Poor bastard.

  20. aw, i can't believe i'm saying this, but i feel genuinely bad for kendra. i don't think it's that weird to be upset for her husband (knowing he'll be disappointed in himself, etc) & his team. *totally* agree with your rant, hilary! reggie bush's stats do not make him an 'x factor' for the Saints. he's had some good moves to put on a highlight reel, but he's not consistently good at all. ugh, i'm happy for the Saints & the city of NO, but i'm with everyone else that hates that it brings any satisfaction to the kardashians!!!

  21. Looked for a Skybox shot of Kim watching her reluctant fiance but never saw her. Thank you CBS for denying me.
Hate the Kardashian show. Hate it.
    Hate it.
    Love Chelsea Lately on E!
Hate how she kisses up to those gals.

  22. Ooooh, I agree with others that I really feel bad for Kendra! She looks genuinely very sad. I can imagine how terrible she'd feel for her husband.

  23. I HATE Kris Jenner more than I hate those vapid stupid whore daughters.

  24. I have no soul, so I'll admit I laughed at Kendra. She was crying over the sound of her career and her husbands going down the drain.

    Kardashians make me nauseated, though.

N.O. QB and his son, though...that made me cry, he seems like a really sweet guy.

  25. Poor Kendra. :( I'm glad the Saints won only for New Orleans sake, but I really could do without the Kardashians once again splashed all over my internets.

  26. My first thought was I didn't want either team to win because of Kim and Kendra.

But I can understand Kendra leaving in tears. She is sad for her husband. Plus as I remember her from the early seasons she is a HUGE sports fan so I bet she takes the game very seriously. Just sayin'.

  27. Kendra like Manning all the way back to her GND days she also loves sports so to be at the superbowl and watch them lose is hard for her.

  28. Awww, poor Kendra!

  29. Hilary,
Reggie, although injury prone, has made significant contributions to the team and is exhilirating to watch play in person.
    B626,
I too was surprised at the refreshing lack of camera cuts to the Kardashians.

An added note, Kim and her siblings twittered after the game and did not even say our cheer correctly. Anyone that has watched a game from outside of a box could tell it to you!

    Who Dat!

  30. Kim & Kendra...who cares? What a great victory for New Orleans! I thought it was an incredible game. Kinda cheapens the victory when two women (who have nothing to do with it) are the focus of anything.

Also thought that Peyton Manning was extremely gracious in what he had to say about the Saints & Brees afterwards. A true class act.

  31. Gahhh Enty. I love you, but your writing style gives me almost as bad a headache as Ted C's. That first sentence made absolutely no sense. Commas and semi colons are your friend!
