Today's Blind Items - Jackass
This foreign born Golden Globe nominee/winner is a C+/B- list actress who primarily does movies but is better known for being on a show loved by critics but which could never find an audience. Anyway, our actress is not the best customer at restaurants. Over the Christmas holidays our actress was at a restaurant with a party of 8 and decided to show the table what you could do if you were a star. She went to find her waitress and asked the waitress to find the biggest vegetable in the kitchen, bring it to the table and say, "Here you go ____, is this what you were talking about?" The waitress found a large vegetable, brought it out to the table and said her lines. As she was leaving, our actress said, "You see? That's the kind of thing I can do because I'm _______." Throughout the night our actress made other staff do various tasks to laughter from the table. When they left, the table didn't even tip.
a show loved by critics... arrested? no, that cant be it, at least i really hope not
ReplyDeleteI hope this will be revealed.
ReplyDeletewhat a douche...oh enty, pls reveal this.
ReplyDeleteIt's the height of stupidity to be intentionally rude to the people who handle your food. Who knows what kind of payback you'll get (and deservedly so).
ReplyDeleteFor a table of 8, wouldn't a 20% gratuity be automatically added to the bill?
toni collette ?
ReplyDeleteAnna Friel?
ReplyDeleteShe was on Pushing Daisies which got a lot of love but was short lived.
Portia de Rossi? Arrested Development came to mind for the show.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe the wait staff kept jumping through hoops. Who's the idiot?
ReplyDeletePushing Daisies
ReplyDeleteNo Paisley. I was a fine-dining server for 16 years, the automatic gratuity is NOT every restaurant's policy.
ReplyDeleteAlso, a server normally would skip the added gratuity for anyone well-known. I know from experience that 'celebs' DO NOT want their server to assume they're not a good enough tipper (but they never are). Also, management will often step in and forbid the server to add gratuity to anyone 'important.'
if it was arrested development it would have to be portia de rossi and there's no way ellen would be married to someone who would pull that.
ReplyDeleteThat had to be quite humiliating for the server. I hope karma bites this woman in the butt.
ReplyDeleteI like the Anna Friel guess.
ReplyDeleteMinnie Driver fits w The Riches being the show, but I sincerely doubt she would do that.
I think Portia is known primarily for TV, not film.
I think M is onto something with Anna Friel from Pushing Daisies. Nominated for a Golden Globe...
ReplyDeleteMy first though was Anna Friel also from Pushing Daisies.
ReplyDeleteYou know that British humor can be so dry. And like all actors, they are too cheap to leave a decent tip. Prolly thought her being there was tip enough.
Minnie Driver? The Riches being the show.
ReplyDeleteI don't think Portia de Rossi cos she's really better known for all her TV shows...
Anna Friel from "Pushing Daisies" seems a good guess!
ReplyDeleteOops just saw your post, Smoke and Mirrors. LOL
ReplyDeleteAnna Friel
ReplyDeleteglad Im not the only one thinking portia
ReplyDeleteBut do people know that name? I wouldn't know her if she ran me over with her car. And she's not a household name that she would say, "I'm Anna Friel so blahblahblah", and people would know instantly who she is.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, I have no guesses. :-(
Anna Friel was my first thought, also!
ReplyDeleteBut Anna Friel doesn't primarily do movies ...
ReplyDeleteMy first thought was actually charlize, but she is A-list! Otherwise it would have fit well, she is best known for movies, but she appeared on arrested...
ReplyDeletekristen bell!
ReplyDeleteshe mainly does movies and was on veronica mars...her boyfriend, dax shepherd, got his start on jackass, hence the post title?
Minnie Driver is my guess. My friend worked with her recently on a show and supposedly she was nothing but a royal bia. Unfortunate though, cause she's quite cute and funny when she's entertaining a crowd...
ReplyDeleteAs of 2006, when I (briefly) worked with her, Anna Friel seemed very nice, down to earth and got on with the crew. True, she may have changed since then but I have a hard time imagining it to be her. Really hope it's not. Also hope it's not Portia since I love Arrested Development.
ReplyDeleteyeah, bell is a great guess! that show was loved by a lot of critics, but it only lasted for what, three seasons? that, and her name is SO much more recognizable than anna
ReplyDeleteAnna Paquin?
ReplyDeleteKristen Bell is a great guess, but I think her bf Dax got his start on Punk'd
ReplyDeleteGreat minds, Venting Vixen!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that about Minnie, Awkward Bird.
Shanna - Kristen Bell is American, already looked her up b/c I thought the same thing.
yeah, and i just looked up kristen bell on imdb and it didn't have any golden globe noms/wins listed for her. oh well!
ReplyDeleteoh darn.
ReplyDeleteEvangeline Lilly. Notorious for saying lame things. Canadian. Nominated for a Golden Globe. The show is called "LOST" so it could never "FIND" an audience...I think that's a word play on Enty's part.
ReplyDeleteThoughts?
charlize theron. monster, arrested development
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteYeah... i am not sure about the word play, but I guess it could be. Cause Lost has for sure found an audience!
ReplyDeleteCharlize crossed my mind, but her Oscar makes her higher than C+/B-
ReplyDeleteNot sure about the the word play. It can't be Charlize Theron because she's known primarily for movies, not for Arrested Development and is definitely A-list. This is a show that was already canceled. I'm on the Kristen Bell train.
ReplyDeleteAwww, man, that sucks big time.
ReplyDeleteHolly Hunter came to mind, but C+/B- for being an Oscar nom/winner makes me doubt.
I think Saving Grace had some good reviews.
christina applegate
ReplyDeleteOops, Bell is American. And when the waitress was told to say, "Here you go ______," I think the waitress said the character's name, and not the actress's name.
ReplyDeleteI think when Enty says "foreign born", he means foreign to the US. Kristen Bell was born in Michigan. Michigan might be foreign to the rest of the country, though.
ReplyDeletecan't be Bell, she's not foreign born. can't be christina, she's born in america. doubt its evangeline. she seems to polite.
ReplyDeleteanna paquin was revealed in blinds recently to have given her best friend $50,000 toward her wedding. someone who would do that, I seriously doubt would be so obnoxious and narcissistic.
so, I have no idea, but I do vote that its someone from england, where that would be considered funny among certain of the upper classes.
never mind, I spaced on the foreign born part.
ReplyDeleteAnna Friel could be a good guess. She's spent the last few months back in England doing a stage production of Breakfast at Tiffany's, and made the UK press every night when she'd leave the theater in costume and go out to bars and restaurants with various friends. Enty featured her last month in a post about her getting caught out publicly fooling around with her costar and cheating on her babydaddy/partner of 9 years, David Thewlis. It doesn't seem like fame has done good things to her as a person.
ReplyDeleteThis is definitely Minnie Driver. She probably thought she was being funny, and perhaps she was, and there's a slim chance the staff thought it was funny. If not, they probably put some bodily fluids in the food. In print, it reads like bad behavior.
ReplyDeleteCan't be Anna Friel: she was at the time playing in a stage adaptation of "Breakfast at Tiffany's" in London.
ReplyDeleteSo, it's Minnie Driver.
Kristen Bell was born in Michigan, so it isn't her. I'm thinking Minnie Driver, as The Riches was popular w/critics, and is past tense.
ReplyDeleteIn any case, what a shitty thing to do to the restaurant - and then NOT tip.
I like the Minnie Driver guess.
ReplyDeleteI think Minnie Driver is mostly known for movies. And for getting dumped by Matt Damon via Oprah.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the Minnie Driver guess. She comes of as somewhat bitter that she isn't a bigger star than she is, so behaviour like this wouldn't surprise me.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea who Anna Friel is...duh
ReplyDeleteMaybe "party of 8" is play on words. What about Neve Campbell from "Party of Five." That show was beloved by critics, but never quite found the viewers. Neve was born in Canada.
ReplyDeleteWhat about Holly Hunter? Where was she born. Saving grace was loved by critics but has been canceled
ReplyDeleteWho is Anna Friel?
ReplyDeleteLittle Miss Smoke and Mirrors -- I know! She hosted this event we went to (when my friend worked with her all day) and we just adored her. She was so cute and funny and charming- but then when we heard about her backstage etiquette we were appalled. Sadness. I could see her doing it for a joke... although not too funny in my book...

ReplyDeleteHours later... Duh! *foreign-born*
ReplyDeleteI got nuthin'
I don't think we got this one, Myra.
hahah I should have looked it up first. I am a bit slow! :)
ReplyDeletePORTIA DI ROSSI- she said in an interview before that she lied to a flight attendant that her parents had just died ina tragic accident so they had to give her a first class ticket on a sold out flight so she could make it to the funeral in time. the way she told her story you could tell she was arrogant. you can find this interview on youtube....its with leno or lettermen
ReplyDeleteLOL @ Michigan might be foreign to the rest of the country, though.
ReplyDeleteoh and australians are notoriously bad tippers too
ReplyDeleteI initially thought of Portia DeRossi when I read this, only because Arrested Development was such a great show but never had the audience to back it up, but she doesn't seem like the type to do that. Or is she? After reading all the comments, I like the Minnie Driver guess the best, although I always thought seemed like she is nice.
ReplyDeleteA lot of "foreigners" are bad tippers because the service charge is included in the bill in their home country and they don't know to add a grat when they are in the good ol' US of A. Or they pretend that they don't know. :-/
ReplyDeleteMy beau is Norwegian and his sister was a waitress while in college and made something like $15.00 an hour. And this was about 5 years ago. Sure, our servers might make a lot more with grat, but there's a lot to say about paying a decent wage. Also (sorry for the digression) I worked in Human Resources for a large resort hotel with several restaurants and our servers would under claim their grats (so as to avoid paying taxes on it) and then when they wanted to buy a house or car they were in a pickle because they'd been claiming a much lower income.
/rant
Dunno who it is, but I hope she is revealed!
Toni Collette-
ReplyDeletenominated for GG and won for United States of Tara--she is from Australia I think. I am just guessing as i have no clue how she is out in public
For those who guessed Holly Hunter - her accent isn't faked, she was born in Georgia. (USA, not the former SSR). Can't be her.
ReplyDeleteHave no idea what Anna Friel looks like and never can remember what she's done whenever I hear her name.
I'm liking the Minnie Driver guess.

ReplyDeleteoh and who could be married to ellen when she is notoriously neurotic?? gee.. another inflated ego who can ignore the defamation of others...i mean i would never lie about a family members death just so i could get a shorter flight home and believe me i travel a butt load and have integrity
ReplyDeleteAnna Friel
ReplyDelete-British actress
-GG nominee 2008 for Best Actress for Pushing Daisies
-Pushing Daisies - critically acclaimed but canceled after 2 seasons
Everything seems to fit except that her imdb profile looks like mostly TV and British tv at that...
My guess is it's another in a series of made-up blinds.
ReplyDeleteOkay. Here are my 2 cents.
ReplyDeletePortia - Definitely fits with Arrested Development. However, I really cannot picture her doing this. Not that I know her personally, but Ellen & Portia seem like a class act to me.
Anna - Fits with Pushing Daisies, but she is NOT a house hold name. I even had to look her up. Also while PD was loved by critics, it wasn't very well advertised.
Minnie - Okay let's talk Minnie. The Riches was def. more advertised, and I thought it would be around for a while. She is (to me) most definitely more of a house hold name. Hard to forget a name like Minnie. And, lastly, I could just picture her doing this for some reason. just picture the waitress coming to the table "Here you go Minnie, is this what you were talking about?"... I dunno I can just picture her chipmunk face snickering and giggling while acting all entitled and snarky...
So, with that said...
MINNIE DRIVER FTW!!
Just a shot in the dark - how about Alexis Bledel? "I'm Rory Gilmoure."
ReplyDeleteAnna Friel. Fits completely.
ReplyDeleteAlexis Bledel is from Houston, Texas.
ReplyDeleteHasn't Portia also mainly done TV? Drawing a blank on the movies she would need to "primarily have done" per Enty's clues for her to fit this one.
ReplyDeleteI mean, I know she's done some movies, but looks to me like they were all mostly small roles or forgettable movies--nothing was a standout to me per IMDb.
Just doesn't seem to be Portia to me.
I think its Rose Byrne from Damages.
ReplyDeletePortia de Rossi and Kristen Bell are not Golden Globe nominees/winners. Minnie Driver and Anna Friel were both nominated for The Riches and Pushing Daises. Not saying it's either of them; just that we can rule out a few others based on a clue a lot are forgetting.
ReplyDeleteHow about melissa George who was born in Australia (I think) and was a co-star of "In Treatment" with Gabriel Byrne?!
ReplyDeleteI am a massage therapist in a famous spa in nyc and I worked on Minnie Driver, and she is rude and cheap. I gave her a two hour massage and she left me ten dollars. She was all about "Don't you know who I am?"
ReplyDeleteEven then, she was a has-been. Not that she ever really hit the big time. Also her skin is just awful with sun-spots and skin-tags all over her body. And her skin was baggy, from too much dieting.
I know from my time in Europe that they do not tip there-it is frowned upon and considered rude. That is why most Europeans are considered bad tippers in the States.
ReplyDeleteThat said, I'm going for Minnie Driver.
I looked at Anna Friel's imdb credits and she's done mostly television.
ReplyDeleteminnie driver has a reputation for being really difficult to deal with and she's mainly been in movies
i HIGHLY doubt it's minnie driver. she frequented the jewelry store where i used to work and was always very nice and pleasant.
ReplyDeleteI would never recognize Anna Friel or her name if I met her, even though I was a Pushing Daisies fan. As another poster stated, she's not a household name. I don't think she'd have this kind of pull. I've also never seen her in a movie. Minnie Driver is a better fit. I could see her doing this if she was a bit tipsy from the wine.
ReplyDeleteMinnie Driver for the win, she is an A-class douche and had a reputation for trying to use her fellas to increase her Hollywood star power. That was the reason why she was dating Matt Damon, and prolly why he dumped her. In the UK she is 'Minnie who?'cos the Brits couldn't give a toss about her anymore. Her cheapness and sense of entitlement comes from the fact that she and her sister are the offspring of a married businessman and his mistress (see Wikipedia). My guess is her own kid was also sired by a very rich married man, hence the secrecy about paternity. She's really dropped from the radar since Good Will Hunting. Her friends sound like right a--holes too. It was just a matter of time before Karma caught up with Ms Driver.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I would never say Anna Friel. Despite her being best known for Pushing Daisies- she's mostly a stage actress.
ReplyDelete
