Katy Perry spoke to MTV about her recent job guest judging American Idol and she says she would do it full time if they asked. You know what? I actually think that is a really good idea. No one under a certain age really remembers that Paula Abdul even "sang." Who is she to give advice about singing or music. Katy Perry on the other hand is where Paula was 20 years ago and would be much more relevant and someone that is identifiable to those under 40 as a an actual singer.
I don't think she would end up on American Idol, but I do think she would be a much better choice for a judge on X factor than Paula would be. After making the decision to get engaged to Russell Brand I really didn't think Katy Perry was capable of making good decisions. I was wrong. She should quit her singing career, saving us another album to listen to for a year, and instead go be a judge on X Factor or Idol. She is not bad at it.
I can't believe Paula's new production deal includes her being on 'Dancing With the Stars.' I mean, I know they've had people with dance training on before, but she was a professional dancer/choreographer for years! How is that fair?
ReplyDeleteKaty was difficult and not terribly entertaining. I LOVED Neil Patrick Harris. He was honest and no nonsense, like Simon, but he's NPH with the charisma! I loved how he took over.
ReplyDeleteKaty came off as so much manipulated and poorly delivered scripted snark. Gee who else could they add to make the show even more about the judges?
ReplyDeleteshe's not stupid, she knows she's ridden the kissed-the-girl train as far as it'll go...she absolutely needs to stay relevant. the engagement to russel brand buys her another 15 minutes, but then what?
ReplyDeleteita w/ the above posters that she came across as difficult and not entertaining...if she worked on her personality she just might be able to remain in the limelight.
Katie Perry will also be where Paula is, 20 years from now. Vaguely remembered, if at all.
ReplyDeleteI think she's cute when she's all made up. I don't think I've even seen her speak before and today won't be the day.
ReplyDelete"Otherwise, it's kinda like judging a talent show."
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, what?! American Idol is akin to a talent show? What a novel and crazy idea, Katy Perry.
Wasn't impressed with her on idol.
ReplyDeleteWhats with the stupid lens-less glasses?
ReplyDeleteUnlike a lot of Americans, I've loved Russell Brand for quite awhile, and I rather like PerryBrand as a couple. Okay, that didn't work. RussKatie? I suck at the cute name merging, and somehow that makes me feel better about myself.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds pretentious. What I meant is that so many Americans seem to dislike Russell Brand for some reason, and I just loves the guy.
ReplyDeleteWrong again, Ent.
ReplyDeleteKaty Perry is incredibly annoying and has had about 5 minutes worth of experience in the music industry. Who is SHE to be giving someone advice? Paula might have had her day back in the 80's but she has been involved with the music industry as a whole for a very long time.
Besides, how old is Katy? 25 tops?
I thought Paula was being approached to go on DWTS as some form of judge, not contestant??? Isn't Len Goodman retiring soon? I wondered at first if she'd replace Samantha Harris or Tom Berganwhathisface.
ReplyDeleteI actually enjoyed KP's stint on AI this past week but I've enjoyed everyone they've had so far except Avryl (sp) who acted like a ... you know what.
I think Katy Perry is a total bitch and more unlikeable than Kara. Even though Paula may be nuts, she was a good mentor to the kids and has the experience and the heart, and did contribute to the show. Avril Lavigne was another one, she was useless and annoying.
ReplyDeleteJust the fact that Simon signed Paula to x-factor just shows you how he felt about her contribution to the show.
