There's a great picture of David and Iman on a boat in matching red, white & blue swimsuits. I googled it but can't find it. Such a cool, classy couple.
OT, but here's a recent quote from another rock star that kinda stuck in my craw. Here's Jack White on his Dead Weather bandmate Alison Mosshart's fashion sense in the February British Vogue:
White is similarly adamant about his bandmate's position as a style leader. I wonder how important it is for a rock musician to look the part? "You have to appear to give a damn - not about fashion but about life," White writes. The people who wear pyjamas to the mall couldn't care less about art or anything of even mild interest. Alison is not one of those people."
Am I sensitive, or is that a bit harsh? Full disclosure: I am wearing sweatpants right now. However, I do care about both art and life.
Bowie confirmed his bisexuality in an interview with Melody Maker in January 1972, a move coinciding with the first shots in his campaign for stardom as Ziggy Stardust.[34] In a 1976 interview with Playboy, Bowie said: "It's true — I am a bisexual. But I can't deny that I've used that fact very well. I suppose it's the best thing that ever happened to me."
I have his unauthorized biography. Very interesting read.
My son got an mp3 player for Christmas. I played some songs for him to figure out what he wanted to listen to. When I played Ziggy Stardust, he only had to hear the beginning riff and he yelled out "YES!". He's 8.
Oooops. I accidentally deleted my post or something. I'll try to replicate as best I can.
♥DAVID BOWIE♥
LOVE him. LOVE his music. Now I love Enty for posting this!
Also, I was going to say that later on I think he said he made up the bi thing to appear more mysterious or something. Not that it really matters either way.
I bought my boyfriend in high school a David Bowie 8-track for his car--yes I am that old. He started yelling that he hated David Bowie, why would I do that. I didn't want to tell him because I couldn't stand listening to top-40 any longer. Once he went through the list of songs, he realized he liked each & every one, but he didn't know who sang them
When I was 5 or 6 years old I saw The Labryinth and decided I wanted to grow up and marry David Bowie, 16 years later I can watch the movie again and again and always remember why =)
Sailors fighting in the dance hall Oh man! Look at those cavemen go It's the freakiest show Take a look at the lawman Beating up the wrong guy Oh man! Wonder if he'll ever know He's in the best selling show Is there life on Mars?
Love David Bowie. When I was a child, my older sisters were huge fans. They had me running around the house yelling, Ziggy played guitar!
And some of my faves: - thin white duke (teeth creepy) - popular 'modern love' image in yellow - with lovely iman - the grey suit - and the retro 20s image in suit/black and white with cig.
I could never understand why Peter Jackson didn't cast him as Elrond. But after seeing Hugo Weaving, that was no longer an issue but David is an elf incarnate.
One of my first huge crushes in the 80's was David Bowie. Awesome photos. I love the man and his music.
ReplyDeleteI love him and Iman together.
ReplyDeleteHubba hubba.
ReplyDeletemeh. more impressed by iman's career...but happy b'day to him, may he be strong and healthy for 63 more yrs.
ReplyDeleteLove David Bowie, thx for the Labyrinth pic
ReplyDeleteLove! Especially in Labyrinth - thanks for the pic Enty! It's hard to believe he's only 5 years younger than my parents.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday, David, and a posthumous happy birthday to the one and only King, Elvis Presley, who would have been 75 today.

ReplyDeleteLove him, love his music, too.
Labyrinth is one of my favorite childhood movies....

Thanks Enty!
David Bowie is my patron saint of art. I wouldn't be doing my goofy job if he hadn't inspired me along the way.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, you spicy old goat!
The man is completely fascinating.
ReplyDeleteI think he would be an awesome person to sit down and talk to.
One of my favorite parts of 'Jennifer's Body' (it's fabulously awful):
ReplyDelete"It's a Bowie knife."
"Bowie? Cool!" (Dude obviously thinking he meant David Bowie.)
The often imitated, but never duplicated...David Bowie is awesome. Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteLove David Bowie! I showed my young neices (6 & 9) Labryinth and the 6 year old became obsessesed with him! My brother was so pissed at me. :)
ReplyDeleteI hope I age as gracefully.
ReplyDeleteI could never understand why Peter Jackson didn't cast him as Elrond. But after seeing Hugo Weaving, that was no longer an issue but David is an elf incarnate.
ReplyDeleteGreat Guy! Many happy returns to him!
ReplyDeleteMy husband taught my son to sing "Rebel Rebel" when he was 3. Especially the part that goes "hot tramp - I love you so!"...
ReplyDeleteI have it on tape. It's funny.
Love, love David Bowie.
Happy B-day David!
ReplyDeleteDitto ardliegh's comment.
mngddess, I'd love to see that tape :-) btw, who's your avie?
Love the multi-faceted David Bowie. Always watch his duet with Bing Crosby on The Little Drummer Boy over Christmas holiday. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteIman is a seriously beautiful woman...
ReplyDeleteLOVE David Bowie! Thanks Enty!
ReplyDeleteMy first concert was when I was nine, and it was David Bowie's Glass Spider tour : )
i love david. happy bday-hot tramp!
ReplyDeleteBowie's always been a sexy beast. Gotten better with age.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed his part in Zoolander, where he was the judge for the "walk-off" between Zoolander and Owen Wilson's character.
