Congratulations To Hanes
Charlie Sheen won't be getting any more money from Hanes. The actor had been pitching their products for about two years. All of the commercials featuring Sheen were pulled the day after his arrest on domestic violence charges. In addition to dropping him, Hanes also apologized in advance because there will be print publications featuring Sheen but they couldn't pull those in time to stop them from running. Hanes in a statement said:
"It's a pretty standard, straightforward call when somebody who's in your commercials is arrested on suspicion of something of this magnitude. And we would suspend the ads both for the company and, really, for Mr. Sheen and his family as well. Given the publicity, it makes sense to not air those ads during that time."
Well done Hanes!!
It's funny you posted this b/c I read about this on another site last night and emailed Hanes my congratulations and thanks for doing this. Besides when I think of Hanes I think of "All American" and "Clean" and neiher of those resembles Charlie Sheen.
ReplyDeletewhen I think hanes I think of field of dreams
ReplyDeletei don't get it. it's not like he was a saint before all of this. did hanes not know his history before hiring him and are they surprised now? if this is their stance then they shouldn't have hired him as their spokesman in the first place.
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting this Enty. For once a corporation did the right thing.
ReplyDeleteKudos to Hanes!
I'm sure they were trying to give him the benefit of the doubt (again) before this, but he really screwed up. I appreciate the fact that they are reinforcing that fact that what he did was NOT okay.
ReplyDeleteKuddos to Hanes. Now if Tiger's big backer would just kick his a$$ to the curb.
ReplyDeletethat should be backers. Sorry.
ReplyDeleteI love Hanes ladies' undies, and now I love them even more. Good for you Glen Coco! You go Glen Coco!
ReplyDeletesporky i love you. (you too, glen coco.)
ReplyDeleteThanks Hanes. I will go buy a pack of your athletic socks this weekend. I need some for my NY resolution. Hah
ReplyDeleteI was remiss in not emailing Hanes.
ReplyDeleteI emailed all of Tiger's major sponsors and only Gillette has responded:
Thank you for your comments about Gillette’s sponsorship of Tiger Woods. I’m sharing your feedback with senior management at P&G, and the advertising managers responsible for Gillette. Our consumers are very important to us, and you can be sure your comments will be given full consideration as we make marketing decisions in the future.
Thanks again for taking the time to express your thoughts.
Nothing yet from Nike. I won't hold my breath...
I actually DO associate Hanes with wifebeaters.
ReplyDeleteHa. Hahahahahaha.
But I agree, good call on their part.
Good, now he just needs to lose his tv show, spend the rest of his money on hookers and drugs, and end up living in an apartment above his dad Martin's garage.
ReplyDeleteWow, talk about presuming someone guilty! He hasn't been convicted of anything, folks! Sure hope YOU never get ACCUSED of something and then everyone automatically thinks you are GUILTY until it's proven.
ReplyDeleteI'm not saying Charlie's innocent, but he hasn't been proven guilty of anything and I reserve judgment until it's proven.
Glen Coco??? You GO, Glen Coco.
ReplyDeleteYay to Hanes.

ReplyDeleteI am a fan of Two and a 1/2 Men however this bad Charlie generated P.R. is just the nudge this still ratings succesful sitcom needs to end it's run. I have a very bawdy sense of humor but they have upped the sexual innuendo meter soo far lately most of it is just too obvious to be funny and Angus the little boy aint so little anymore he looks plain uncomfortable saying his lines disguised as teenage angst(?)
ReplyDeleteIt's time.
and i reserve the right to JUDGE JUDGE JUDGE!!! it is a gossip site afterall, not a court of law ;o)
ReplyDeleteAgreed, Enty.
ReplyDelete@ Harriet - LMFAO!
ReplyDelete@ B626 - Also the bathroom humor (an oxymoron if there ever was one, IMHO) on 2.5 Men has really gone too far. I didn't like fart and poo jokes even when I was 6 years old, for crying out loud.
