Conan Puts The Tonight Show Up For Sale On Craigslist
Did you see Conan last night? If you didn't you have to watch the video below. Conan has put The Tonight Show up for sale on Craigslist. It appears that next Friday will be Conan's last day on the show. He is so getting screwed and I can't wait until he is on Letterman the day after his last day on NBC.
Team Conan!!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteConan FTW!
ReplyDeleteI'm with COCO!!!
ReplyDeleteGo Conan, Go Conan!
ReplyDeleteLOVE, LOVE CONAN....
ReplyDeletethat is fan-freaking-tastic. haha
ReplyDeleteConan, and his college buddy Zucker, "screwed" Leno to get the Tonight Show in the first place. The fact that it is now coming down around their ears is simply Karma.
ReplyDeleteI'm with CoCo!!!
ReplyDeleteHope he does not get blackballed on television. Is Sumner Redstone still head of Viacom which owns Universal? Ole Sumner is something else.
ReplyDeleteGood info Daveb. Team KIMMEL and LENO.
I got a dollar. Anybody else in??
ReplyDeleteWhere were all these 'team Coco' people when his ratings were taking a nosedive?
ReplyDelete*not talking about the poster above that said 'team coco'
AND THERE IS ALWAYS CABLE...WHERE FREE SPEECH REIGNS ..
ReplyDeleteTeam Conan. Leno has no class.
ReplyDeleteEnty, you have to post Kimmel ripping Leno a new one on Leno's show last night!! F-ing BRILLIANT.
ReplyDeletehmmm, wonder how much he wants. I could use a new job. The Tonight Show with Big Mama.....hmmmmm.
ReplyDeleteYOU NEED TO CHECK OUT THE REPLIES TO THE AD!!

I might have to watch Dave if Conan is going to be on. If for nothing else, this fiasco has made for some funny bits.
ReplyDelete"must honor Barry Manilow booking on Thursday" LOL!
ReplyDeletethe silver lining is that I will no longer have to listen to Andy. Ugh, that was the worst idea ever.
ReplyDeleteDave, how do you steal someone's show when the contract was signed 6 years ago...with jay's consent?
ReplyDeleteJay panicked and cried like a fucking baby to get a 10 spot or anything when it got time to go. Conan was a victim of circumstance. Jay needs to ask why they were looking 6 years ago in the first place.
@Daveb: Don't know anything about Conan getting the show, but turnaround is fair play. Leno screwed Letterman out of getting the TS so, yeah, karma's a bitch, man!
ReplyDeletethis Team Coco girl was watching from Canada, where we don't count.
ReplyDeleteJay committed career suicide, the public does NOT like to be fucked with. I hope all the old grannies and people with no sense of humour can go back to watching at 11:35.. because no one else will be.
@kimmiepie: The switch back to Leno has nothing to do with Conan's ratings, but rather how many MILLIONS the NBC affiliates were losing because Leno was the lead-in to the local news and HIS ratings were so low.
ReplyDeletethanks Nun.. people tend to forget that for YEARS the Tonight show followed the nightly news. NBC fucked with an institution...and now its fucking back!
ReplyDeleteKarma will eventually knock Jay the Chin off on his ass, mark my words. This is the same shit that he/NBC pulled on David Letterman 18 years ago and now after being given the opportunity to get the Tonight Show after toiling for 16 years, CoCo is getting the shaft...not to mention, the folks that uprooted their families to the opposite coast to join CoCo on this great opportunity are assed out of a job.
ReplyDeleteFvck a Jay Leno and fvck an NBC...
awww...go conan! that was great. i hope everything works out for both of them, i like them both. here's to hoping they can rise above a bad situation and continue to be awesome.
ReplyDeleteI love Conan. He was on fire last night! Jay Leno is so not funny. Only the olds and Larry the Cable guy fans like him. I guess Jay is funny if you need everything spelled out to you.

ReplyDeleteSix years ago NBC was worried about losing Conan and pressured Leno to agree to a retirement date. When that date arrived NBC panicked because Leno was the ratings leader (ahead of Letterman and way ahead of Conan). They suddenly realized the economic impact of killing their No. 1 moneymaker and offered Leno the half assed 10PM show. The rest is history.
I never understood why NBC wanted to force the retirement of someone who had Leno's ratings. That was until I heard that Jeff Zucker, the network president, had been a school buddy of Conan's. The fix was in.
There is no doubt that Leno is less "hipper" than Letterman or Conan but that is because he takes a "big tent" approach. Consequently he will get bigger ratings.
no Dave..they "offered" Jay the 10pm spot because it's cheaper than producing another Law and order type drama.
ReplyDeletecheck your facts man!

ReplyDeleteDaveB, seriously get your facts straight...Leno announced 6 years ago he didn't plan to renew his contract and planned to go off into the sunset. He wasn't FORCED out. So when Conan was renewing his Late Night deal, he was promised the Tonight Show at the end of his tenure at Late Night.
ReplyDeleteI hate how Leno is trying to play the victim card (I got screwed because my show only lasted 4 months at 10 pm). The loser is getting back the 11:35 slot. Conan's ratings weren't bad before Leno took the 10 pm slot.
If Fox opts to sign Conan, NBC will be screwed b/c Conan seems to have the youth vote, and he will have major lead in's like American Idol and 24.
If Zucker and Conan were school chums then why is Conan getting the shaft?
ReplyDeleteTEAM CONANDO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And I watch Conan's show every weeknight so my ratings are right where my mouth is
DaveB has no idea what he's talking about, so pay Jay, I mean DaveB no mind...
ReplyDeleteJAX
ReplyDeleteNBC "begged" Leno to take the 10PM slot because he was being approached by other networks to move to an 11:30 slot elsewhere.
NBC saw the ratings leadership going with him and the Tonight Show is the most profitable show on their network. Check your facts!
Did those 10PM dramas cost more than the Leno show - yes but that doesn't matter if their ratings were high enough to offset the greater costs (which they weren't).
NBC saw a way to kill two birds with one stone and tried it. It failed.
The show is "popular" (I guess) because Jay had ample time to get his ratings up, and by time I mean more than 7 effing months!
ReplyDeleteI've been watching Conan since high school and religiously every night for the last 7 or so years. So I am not riding the wave of Team CoCo but who cares anyway?
ReplyDeleteThe Craigslist ad was hilarious.
You guys should definitely also check out Jimmy Kimmel laying into Leno from last night's show. Awkward but HYSTERICAL.
I ALMOST felt sorry for him but I know he played more a part of this than he is letting on.
I don't really like Letterman but of course I have been very much so enjoying his coverage of this fiasco. Craig Ferguson has also been hysterical.
Ok enough babbling.
I'm with CoCo!
@1pm, real celebrities could care less about "most" entertainment blogs. They are busy making MONEY. The top entertaiment sites are TMZ, Perez, MediaTakeout, Just Jared and Just Jared Jr. That's where they would send their reps. It's all about the hits baby!
ReplyDeleteI am with 0 - Conan FTW!!
ReplyDeletedaveb-who were the other networks trying to take Leno? Huh? Not CBS. Not ABC...the CW? My9? Seriously. I'm so confused here.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Conan is hilarious and witty and this has just been a horrible mess. Plus all the programming that got lost when they went with Leno at 10. Boo.
