Amy Winehouse Gets A Slap On The Wrist For Assault
You know the headline says slap on the wrist but really it was more of a love tap. Amy Winehouse has to pay about a $300 fine and stay out of trouble for two years but that is about all that happened to her for her December 23rd assault against a bartender who suggested she just have a glass of water. Amy who had already consumed a minimum of 5 vodka and cokes that night grabbed the bartender by the head and pulled his hair. Earlier in the evening she had been cuasing a disturbance during the performance.
The judge was going to give Amy a larger fine but said her having to be good for two years would be a much tougher punishment. That would probably be true except that nothing will happen to her if she is bad. The charge wasn't that serious and even if she gets arrested everyday I doubt she would see the inside of a jail cell. The judge said he was also making the fine small because she had been making progress in curbing her drinking. Really? Who said that?
awww, I missed Wino. haven't seen her since the Barbie experiment went so horribly wrong. Even Michael K hasn't mentioned her that much.
ReplyDeleteWow, apparently you can really get away with a lot over in England if you're a celebrity.
ReplyDeleteOh wait, that happens everywhere, nevermind...

ReplyDelete"Celebs" beware! If you ever dare lay a hand on me, I guarantee you, I Will Hit You Back! I will totally go Brenda Walsh on your ass. I don't give a shit who you "think" you are, being famous and assaulting people then getting away with it is BS. That judge sucks.
ReplyDeleteDo those British celebs ever get punished for what they do to others? Look at that junkie Pete Doherty. I guess he really has to kill somebody first before they put him in jail again where he obviously belongs. They always only get slaps on the wrist whereas non-celebs will be sentenced for much less.
ReplyDeleteI'm also wondering why nobody has kicked that filthy crackhead in the ass yet? She always physically assaults people and they never seem to hit back. The same goes for Naomi Campbell.
Am I the only one who found it weird that a bartender would try to cut her off?
ReplyDeletebetween the shit she and Pete Doherty get away with, I wonder if there is any Justice in the U.K.
ReplyDeleteNot that Los Angeles is any better.
no, a long long time ago, I used to bartend and sometimes it is the ONLY WAY to control a customer you know is going to get out of hand or is already acting wierd. Besides the fact that here in the states there is a liability problem with serving customers who are clearly over thier capacity for "safety". I have no doubt there are bartenders who have been sued for alchohol poisining. Seriously.
ReplyDeleteI'm another still shaking my head thinking of Pete Doherty. Considering he has STILL never seen the inside of jail cell, seems to me the U.K. is the best place to get away with celebrity bad-drug behaviour.
ReplyDeleteIf she and Pete Doherty hooked up, wouldn't that be a rolicking good time?
ReplyDeleteShe needs to get locked up for wearing those damn ballet flats.
ReplyDeleteFor the love of God, what do you have to do in Britain to see the inside of a jail cell?
ReplyDeleteBesides be a commoner, apparently.
I can see just getting a fine for the assault since there was apparently no blood shed, however this certainly wasn't her first offense and won't be her last.
I don't think jail would be a good option, however an extended lockdown in a mental facility should have been considered.
I mean this in the nicest way possible, but how is she not dead yet?
ReplyDeleteYep, celebs can pretty much get away with anything over here. Although so can most serious offenders, our justice system is majorly fooked.
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't the bartender, it was the front-of-house manager.
ReplyDeleteI agree, what does she have to do to get her comeuppance? There's no chance in hell she'll behave for two years, but when she re-offends she will just get another wrist-slap.
