When Latex Meets The Queen
I wonder if Queen Elizabeth has ever met anyone dressed in latex. Oh sure there were probably the late night parties when Prince Charles would come home late at night in his leather or latex talking about what he did, but I don't think the Queen's husband is probably into that kind of thing so it is pretty much left to the times where she may have been visiting a factory or meeting musicians, or the time she accidentally walked into the store selling sex toys. Oh wait, that could have been a spoof movie. Scratch that.
Last night Lady GaGa dressed as Elizabeth I if Elizabeth had been into red latex. The Queen to her credit doesn't even look phased although the guys in that dance group that beat Susan Boyle literally drop their jaws in the second picture.
When the Queen met Lady GaGa she smiled nicely and then in her best Christopher Walken impression, said, "oh oh oh oh ah ah ah ah ah Poker Face."
omg, lady poopoo's parents must've been so embarrassed.
ReplyDeleteNah. When she was on Jay Leno they talked about her meeting the Queen. He asked what she was going to wear. She figured if she asked for Lady GaGa, she may as well dress like she usually does.
ReplyDeleteWe all know this could have been much, much worse.
She's a performer and met the Queen as such - why should she change? I know people will argue it's a matter of respect, but if there had been a dress code, I'm sure she would have been informed.
ReplyDeleteI don't think this is bad by comparison to what Miley Cyrus was wearing during the performance and the skanky orange dress that she changed into to meet the Queen. The dress Miley wore looks like it came from the prom dress section for future hookers at a Wal-Mart in the middle of nowhere. It shows too much cleavage for a 17 year old (esp. one meeting the Queen).
ReplyDeleteI think Gaga was very respectful in her wardrobe choice! She covered her body (unlike Miley) and kept her individuality but toned it down. No fake blood or anything.
ReplyDeleteYou are an American Lady Gaga...you are not supposed to bow to the queen. Who do you think you are? Madge? Oh right...
ReplyDeleteI've always loved Chris Walken; he's such a hoot!
ReplyDeleteWAY more offended by Miley than Ms. Gaga.
ReplyDeleteBesides, I think the Queen has a pretty great sense of humour. I don't really know if she does or not, but I'm guessing she doesn't take herself as seriously as well, Miley Cirus does.

ReplyDeleteThe Queen is known to be a spot on mimic and entertains her family all the time with imitations of people she has to deal with.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was in Australia, I used to argue with my British friends about whether Americans should bow or curtsy to the Queen. My Australian friends were mostly indifferent. Not sure what the rules are, but probably not happening, so no worries.
I agree with Adventurous Kate. She was covered and you can almost see her face. I recently read that she showed up for a mag. interview in Chanel.
I think GaGa looks good.
ReplyDeleteThey all get told what correct protocol is, but maybe she was nervous. Or just decided to do it her own way.
Whatever, the best dressed lady award of the evening went to Bette Midler - she looked awesome.
Totally agree w/ lionsden. When I saw the picture of Skankarella I just cringed. Stupid little slag.
ReplyDeleteAt least she wasn't about to fall out of her dress like Miley.
ReplyDeleteAnd if she wants to curtsy to the Queen, then she should do so.
I love that you found an excuse to post the Walken video again. I love it, although it doesn't have enough cowbell.
ReplyDeleteShe can do whatever she wants but that doesn't mean I have to agree with it. Anyway, I was not that offended by her appearance. Everyone was in their stage clothes...one girl had on spandex and no shoes so attire was obviously very formal.
ReplyDeletenot very formal I mean
ReplyDeleteWhy are you picking on GaGa when Miley basically gave the queen a full-on shot of her poonanner AND her ta-tas?
ReplyDeleteAt least GaGa isn't pantsless this time! I've never NOT seen her thighs.
I think she looks fine. The dress is very conservative (other than its redness) and the eye sequins are discreet. She is who she is. She toned it down out of respect, and I don't think a curtsey or two ever hurt anyone.
ReplyDeleteHer Majesty looks like she was very amused, but I can't believe she meet the queen with those red things on her eyes, seriously. Tacky, tacky
ReplyDeleteI'm American, and if I met the Queen you'd better believe I'd curtsy. Or bow, whatever it is British women do. I'm inexplicably bonkers for the British royalty.
ReplyDeleteI think she is fabulous!
ReplyDeletePoor Queen!
ReplyDeleteConsidering the persona that Gaga tries so hard to be, this outfit is damn near conservative.
ReplyDeleteAt least it's not slutty like little ms Disney.
At least Gaga didn't have her breasts hanging out like Miley Cyrus did. Gaga looked far more appropriate.
ReplyDeleteThe designer that makes all her latex gear is London based correct?
Honestly, I don't know how it is possible for Lady Ga Ga to be wearing fire-engine red latex and platinum Veronica Lake hair and STILL look utterly homely. Wow. I mean. Just wow. What on earth would she look like without all those trappings? (Marilyn Manson without makeup?)
ReplyDeletei have to believe that the queen is probably a pretty cool old broad, there's just that pesky protocol thing.
ReplyDeleteshe's probably fascinated by the people she meets!
and while i agree on the diana thing, where i to meet the queen, you bet your sweet ass i would bow. 'twould only be respectful.
Oh god I dislike miley as much as the next person but does nobody seriously remember the queen meeting ginger spice????
ReplyDeleteShe was dressed nice compared to her. AND the dress wasnt all that bad, geez.
Ok, having finally seen both Miley's and Lady Gaga's outfits for being presented to the Queen, I have only this to offer.
ReplyDeleteMiley Cyrus needs to fire her current stylist. Period. And then they need to tell her that pumpkin is not a good color for her.
Then someone needs to explain to her the entire concept of etiquette, beginning with age appropriate attire when meeting heads of state.
Lady Gaga might have been a little avant guarde in her choice of material, however the entire effect is both acceptable and very much "what you should expect from Lady Gaga".
And my hand to God, I can almost believe that Miley would hand her gum to Charles or Edward prior to meeting the Queen.
I wouldn't have a problem with her handing it to Camilla though.
Just sayin'.
