Shane Sparks Says This Whole Child Molestation Thing Is Extortion

Shane Sparks says he is innocent of child molestation charges. Well, actually Shane didn't say anything, but his lawyer did. His lawyer did a great job of spinning. He told E! News that Shane's case is just like the John Travolta and John Stamos cases where people were extorting celebrities. Huh. For a second that gets you to stop in your tracks. Then of course you remember one very very important point. John Travolta and John Stamos were never arrested. The people trying to extort them were arrested.

Shane's lawyer went on to say that the only reason Shane was arrested now is because he is famous. "It's a bogus accusation that reeks of opportunism and exploitation. The timing is beyond suspicious, and this whole thing stinks to high heaven. We are going to fight to clear his name, and we are going to succeed."

  2. I was keeping an open mind about this until I went to the link xoApril posted. Now I believe he is a child molester and hope he rots in jail.

  5. I have to wonder if there is a lot more to this, just due to the amount of time that has passed in between the date of the assaults and the charges being filed. The charges etc. are pretty aggressive for a ten year old case if the only evidence is the word of the victim. There has got to be more evidence, which makes me think he is probably guilty.

  6. Mooshki, this is what I saw at xoApril's link.

Shane Sparks Teaches Hip Hop 101 at the Knicks City Dancers Tryouts.

Not sure how that condemns him?

  7. I didn't think they went around arresting people without some kind of evidence. No DA is going to stand in front of a judge or jury without a case. Just saying...

  8. When someone mentions child molestation the police arrest first, ask questions later. My cousin was wrongfully accused of molesting his daughter because his wife at the time was looney-tunes on drugs and she was pissed off at him. He was arrested, his daughter was examined (she was 2 at the time) and there was no evidence of the kind. Even the cops felt bad for arresting him because dingbat was known to the police and they knew what she was like.

Not saying Shane is a stand-up citizen - just saying arrest comes first before anything else.

  9. Arrest does not necessarily come first.
There are cases where publicity could and would destroy a case, and in such cases, the complaint and supporting testimony is presented to a Grand Jury, who then votes on whether to proceed with prosecution or not.
    (I speak from experience)

  10. Sunnyside, it was in the comments, not the article itself. One of the posters says she knows someone who was assaulted by him at age 13. And that post was from July, so it's not just a reaction to his arrest.

  11. Got it Mooshki. I skipped the comments. I can see how you could be repulsed by information like that.
