Shane Sparks Arrested For Child Molestation

I don't know where So You Think You Can Dance hires their employees but this is number two that has been arrested and charged with sex crimes. Shane Sparks who was the choreographer of SYTYCD is also a judge on America's Best Dance Crew and was arrested and charged today with lewd acts on a minor.

The molestation allegedly began back in 1994. Shane was charged with 8 felony counts but it is just one person that was allegedly molested. The specific charges are oral copulation and other acts "with the intent of arousing, appealing to, and gratifying the lust, passions, and sexual desires of the defendant, who was at least 10 years older than [the victim]."

Sparks is currently being held on a $590,000 bail.

  1. EW. I hate child molesters and rapists. I think there is a special place in hell for people like that.

Polanski might have a new party buddy.

  3. Terrible.

Let's see how fast those shows distance themselves from him (Or not).

Why are good, honest, and decent men so hard to find? Seriously.

Last week Tiger became a cheetah and this week it's this?

I'm starting not to be shocked anymore when I hear this crap.

I thankfully found a good one.

  9. I had to wiki this guy, I don't watch the show(s).....apparently, his parents are cops. BOTH of them.

    They did a FANTASTIC job.

  10. I guess she was only 15. Sad.

  11. That's what I read... she was 15, he was 25. Illegal, but not nearly as disturbing as a 20 yr old and a 10 year old, because who knows what she told him. I do wonder, however, why if it started in 1994, she waited 15 years to come out with it. Methinks because he is famous now....

  12. Began in 1994 Is this an ongoing relationship?

  13. I was appauled when I read this, but when you say she was 15, well, it seems less shocking. I know, I know, the law etc, but 15 is not exactly a minor in an emaotional sense. 15 year olds' hormones are raging. Remember the "Your Turn" Enty did about losing your virginity? Many folks are sexually active by then. It's definately a grey area if it was indeed consentual.

15 is 15. "What she told him" doesn't mean squat. It may sound unromantic, but check a fucking ID if you have to.

  15. Come on, you guys. These are accusations. You have all already tried and convicted him. Can we at least find out what happens with the charges first? Geez.

  16. WHATEVER - if she is 17 and he is 27 that is no different than what I was up to when I was a teen. He seems like a cool guy and nothing specifies he is jacking onto an 8-y/o or a 12-y/o.

I used to have older boyfriends and was lucky my parents blamed me for my indescrepancies, not the men I ran with.

When I was 15 I was doing it with a 21 year-old. I told him I was 17 (age of constent was 16). That is completely different than having sex with a child.

  18. "with the intent of arousing, appealing to, and gratifying the lust, passions, and sexual desires of the defendant"

This doesn't sound to me like a "non consensual" crime. In fact, it sounds like he was busy being damn attentive. I've never heard of a charge like this before.

Hey you CDaN lawyer types, what's up with this?

  19. i'm so glad i came back to read the comments. he was born in 1974 so he would have been 20 - a 20 year old and 15 year old is so much more tolerable than her being a young child.

still illegal, but infinitely less icky. i concede to rocketqueen - i judged this way too quickly!

  20. hold up, i googled his age and it said he was born in 1974 but the article i just read said he's 40. i'm confused and tired. i quit this scandal.

mygeorgie, "the defendant" is the the accused, not the minor in question! It's the older person being gratified, not the younger. Reread please, you got it backwards.

  22. I remember watching the show where he was comenting on a dance one the groups did where the guys in the group were grabbing and rubbing their "packages" a la Michael Jackson. He said something to the effect of "you know that turns the girls on when men do that"...

What it does to me is that I want the men to run to the nearest sink and disinfect. Ass.

  23. he was born in 1969, makes him 25 at the time. yeah, and who hasn't lied about their age. every one in the dance world knows he dates chicks much younger than himself, usually 18yrs old. well, i guess some of us know. anyway, never really got an ick factor off him, gangsta love jockey booty dance dude, but, not ick. damn, this is gonna fuck stuff up.

  24. According to MTV, the arrest warrants identify the girl as being under the age of 14.

    See this MTV Report.

  25. Anom: Duh! Thanks for clearing that up :) I read wrong. Amazing how one word *completely* changes the story!

  26. The charges are so horrific, his career is over wether or not he is guilty.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Barbara, tell that to R. Kelly. :(

I'm curious to get the whole story. Why charges now?

As for his shows, 'So You Think You Can Dance' has pretended that Alex Da Silva never existed, so I doubt they'll respond to this. MTV will probably talk about it, because they love scandals.

Its untolerable anyone would defend a pedohile. Buncha freaks all of you.

  29. Our criminal justice system is based on the premise that a person is innocent until proven guilty. The court of public opinion is not a jury of his peers. I personally think it's untolerable [sic] that you are judging people for being objective and open minded.

  30. sussique, you are an idiot. He's not a pedophile, he would be classified as an ephebophile.

And as anyone who's gone to a mall lately can attest, 15 yr. old chicks can pass for 20 nowadays. Not that what he did isn't wrong, it is. But NONE OF US know exactly what happened, & the timing of the charges makes me kinda suspicious.

    ReplyDelete
  31. sussique, i don't think anyone is trying to defend a pedophile. i think that the lack of information at first led to speculation that the girl could have been much younger than 15 and not consensual.

I'm not defending what he did, but a consensual relationship with some jailbait is a whole lot different than some monster molesting a 7 year old or something.

  32. Well, the classy thing for the folks at so think you can dance.. and mtv's abdc can do is circulate a petition with Hollywood people's signatures defending Shane Sparks and saying he is is an artiste and thus should be excused, right? I mean, Roman Polanski had that going for him, didn't he?
