Nicole Richie Wrote A Novel?

Yeah, yeah, Nicole Richie is getting a shot at an ABC network deal. That is great and I'm sure the pilot will be picked up, and that her acting is Emmy caliber. The thing that stuck out for me in reading the Variety article about the deal from the network that loved Chris Brown until a flood of e-mails and calls came in, is this sentence. "Separately, Richie is working on her second novel, as well as the debut of her clothing collection and shoe line. "

By all accounts her shoes and clothes are doing ok. Second novel? When the hell was the first? Did I miss it? Was it any good? Then I remembered. It was that book called like Truth About Diamonds or some nonsense. It sold like five copies and the only thing that was fiction about it were the names of the leads in the book. Do you remember the book? It was about some girl named Chloe (Nicole) who got hooked on drugs and then started making reality commercials with her friend Simone (Paris). When it was released Nicole said it was being made into a television show and she was going to write and produce and star in it. Hey, that is the same thing she said about her current show.

So I'm guessing the second book starts out with Chloe driving the wrong way on the highway and she realizes she needs to change. She finds a rock star and gets pregnant a couple of times while her friend Simone stays in the party life and has a sex tape hit the internet and talks about getting f**ked up the butt for coke. Wow, I could write the novel for Nicole. It really just writes itself.

  9. i read the book. i bought it at the airport. it was actually pretty good. (don't make fun of me, i love nicole richie) you can tell exactly who was who in the book. Nicole, Paris, Kim Stewart, Bijou Phillips, Elijah Blue, DJ AM. It said Paris has been doing drugs for a long time, had major behavioral problems and got sent to reform schools, hooks up with guys for drugs, etc.

  10. I read the book when it came out. I was told to do so from my doctor. (it was a lighthearted joke - but I thought why not) I was under way to much stress, so I bought the book and planted my ass beachside in Mexico. It was not to be a classic, but she did throw Simone under the bus to keep it a page turner.
Plus, I agree with the above comments, she has turned her life around, unlike Simone.

  12. lol - no wonder she and Paris aren't friends anymore - good riddance! I've heard that for years about Paris - she gets hired as escorts for all sorts of people...wonder why she can't buy her own damn drugs??

  13. That's weird, wasn't she talking about "leaving the Hollywood craziness" and moving to New York just a day or two ago?

  15. figgy, that's b/c she's mexican. in fact, her bio auntie is the super-talented Sheila E.

while i don't begrudge nicole her career opportunities, i'm a little saddened that yet another truly talented actress somewhere is being passed up for a role so that it can be given to a reality star. sigh.

  16. Pookie I didn't know about the Shelie E link (love her! and her Dad). I thought Nicole was African American. And I have always loved Nic, even when she threw bleach on the pool table- I cringed a lot but she is so funny!

  17. Her biological mum is white and her dad is half black, half Hispanic, something like that. So she does have a little black in her.

  18. The Escovedo family (Richie's biological peeps) are NOT hispanic. They will tell anyone who will listen They are black and Creole. Nicole's mom is a white woman and her dad (Pete Escovedo) is Black/Creole. That's it.

  19. I bought this book, read a couple pages, then took it back. I wasn't really expecting much, except maybe a lighthearted read, but it was so badly written that I just couldn't stand it.

I like Nicole, though. Either she is really that amusing or she has great 'keepers' and publicists.
