David Beckham Thinks Tom Cruise Is Handsome

Did you see George Lopez on TBS last night? Did you even know George Lopez has a talk show on television? Yeah, most people don't. I don't know why David Beckham is not on more talk shows but last night he was on George and started telling Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes stories. Apparently when you go out with Tom and Katie you don't just and eat or watch people eat (Victoria), but instead need to play games and describe your favorite Xenu fantasies.

"We were at dinner once with Tom and Katie ... and we sat there and everyone was like, 'OK, let's play a music game, let's start a singing game!'"

David confessed he was texting anyone he could think of to come drag him away from the table. He does say they are good parents and good looking people. Who knew?

"You say there's good looking people, and you look at Tom, and he's one of the most handsome men I've ever met."

Well now Tom has something to think about tonight.

  6. I actually feel sorry for Victoria.

For all her fame whoring and shameless self-promotion, she didn't deserve this douche to cheat on her with a bunch of skanks.

  10. Let's hear it for Lopez. I can't see any other talk show host getting Becks to open up like that.
And even as much as I don't like TMD, I'd watch.

  11. I agree with Empyrios. Beckham should just shhhhh....sit there and look pretty.

I can't say I feel sorry for Victoria at all. This is hardly the first time. Rumours have been around for years including that she caught him red-handed once and that he makes his conquests sign confidentiality agreements. Truth is, she'd still rather be married to him. Can't stand her.

  12. I feel sorry for anyone whose spouse cheats on them. Been there and it's so hard.

  13. So Becks is into crazy Troll men? That's a visual ....

Actually the Beckhams relationship confuses me. Why stay married to the man if he cheats and betrays you? I don't care how he looks, or how much money he has. Although this might explain why SHE never smiles.

Ha Enty, don't you know it!

  15. i don't see why a man can't call another man good-looking...it's no different than when we women acknowledge that another woman is pretty. no biggie...i'm more concerned w/ TC's nerdy 'let's play a game' thing. wth is THAT?!

  16. I for one still find it shocking the thought of David cheating on Victoria - simply because this union truly seemed to be a real love story.

I'm in England, and for just over a decade it has been impossible to escape the continuous media coverage of these two: EVERY single day in the newspapers, EVERY single week and month on all the magazines, every so often in documentaries and special programmes on television...

BUT, for all their ridiculous vanity, greed and attention-seeking, they seemed to be totally into each other, and share an intimacy that I haven't noticed in any other celebrity couple.

Victoria said, back in 2002 I think, that David was the love of her life, and that if he was to leave her, that she would die of a broken heart, that she "really would". She seemed sincere.

And David had also always seemed totally in love with her.

When the news broke that he had been cheating with that vile pig-botherer, and then the beautician who waxed his hair and a third woman, I was extremely surprised, and disappointed.
Because even though I find them pathetic in many ways, if there's one thing I could respect was the true love they seemed to have for one another.

There was a huge shift in power in that relationship in the beginning of the decade, that I think has impacted on how they see and feel about themselves both as a couple and individually.

When they started dating, Victoria as a member of the Spice Girls was a global superstar, while David was just an up-and-coming footballer.

He was good looking, and they made a glamourous couple, but she clearly had the upper hand.
She was media savvy and deftly handled all the attention thrown their way, while he stayed two steps behind her and was so shy he hardly said anything. Victoria would actually lead him by the hand when they were out together and he would follow her around meekly.

Then around 2000 the Spice Girls broke up, which also coincided with David's rise as a footballer to became England's captain.
By then he had become more confident in public while Victoria, now without the status that being a successful pop star gave her became a figure of ridicule and derision.

They would both do stupid things, and often together, but because he was (at the time) one of the best footballers in the world people were still very proud of him, and Victoria would be the main target of press.

I think that being relegated to the supporting role of wife of David Beckham, and the fact that they both marketed themselves has an entity, has meant that dissolving that unit would be extremely difficult (not just in a business/financial sense), but that they would find it very hard to live without the other.

Victoria in particular, it seems that her identity is so entwined with being with David that it is possible she cannot imagine living without him.

DISCLAIMER: The above is all speculation, of course.
I don't know these people, and have formed this opinion based solely on years of enforced, involuntary exposure to these people's lives through the media.

  17. On the contrary, Schmooey - I think you have provided an excellent dissection of the dynamic between that couple of the years and how they find themselves where they are now.

  19. I agree with empyrios as well. Never speak, Becks...

And Schmooey, awesome post. I was studying abroad in England in the few months post Loos and the media obsession with them there, it's crazy.

  20. Who sings at a restaurant during dinner? Waiters? It's kind of disturbing that he really seems sincere in his adoration because Tom's jacked up teeth and short statue and weirdo personality are hardly attractions for most people.

  21. @Schmooey, you're so right. I don't want to see them split either for the same reasons. I used to hate Victoria, but i've begrudgingly begun to respect her a bit. David on the other hand... not so much.
Oh and kudos on 'vile pig-botherer', that made me lol.

  22. @RocketQueen:

Also, when she was 6-8 months pregnant with their first child, a newspaper printed a story of a woman who claimed that she'd had sex with DB.

It was such a huge blow reading it that Victoria was having trouble breathing, and was convulsing and vomitting.

She talked about it in a documentary (which is up on Youtube, and if I had the time to find it I would post the link) and was very candid about how difficult that event had been for her, saying:

"As much as David kept telling me that it wasn't true, and that he didn't even know the woman, I'm still having to read her describing haw he "had a huge erection"..."

It must have been really devastating for her to find out that he did cheat on her a few years later, and I hope this rumour of a year-long affair isn't about him.

Victoria seems totally invested in her marriage, and if she is committed to her husband, she deserves him to be committed to her too.

    @ Lian:

They took over from Princess Diana as the media's Number 1 Tabloid fodder.

    @ Kinky Bootleg:

I call her that because she masturbated a pig in that reality show with Vanilla Ice.

  23. I know, I know, there are a lot of reasons to love to hate Vicky, but I have always thought this video of her being interviewed by Little Ant and Dec is soooo cute:

She comes across as lovely and unpretentious, and she smiles through the whole thing. :)
